Pachydans, also referred to as elephantines,[4] are a race of elephant-like humanoids in Exandria.[5]
Appearance[]
Pachydans are described as bipedal, tailed, and larger than most humanoids, with elephant-like heads having trunks, tusks, discrete fingers[6] and big, droopy ears.[7][8] They can carve patterns into their tusks.[9][10] Despite their size, they can be graceful on their feet.[11]
History and society[]
Pachydans have so far only been encountered in Niirdal-Poc (isolated deep in the Rifenmist Jungle of Tal'Dorei) and Jrusar (in the Oderan Wilds of Marquet), but one pachydan is seen arriving in Jrusar on a skyship,[12] so they are presumably found in at least one other major city as of 843 PD.
Powers and abilities[]
In the Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica, loxodons (by all appearances similar to pachydans) can use their trunks for lifting, grappling, making unarmed strikes, or breathing as with a snorkel; it also grants them advantage on a variety of checks involving smell. Their thick skin is a form of natural armor, and they count as one size larger than they are for the purposes of lifting, pushing, and grappling. Their serene nature gives them advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened. They also have their own racial language that they speak in addition to Common.[1] No pachydans have yet been seen using any of these abilities.
