Description[]

Ozo is a mighty ten-foot-tall Reiloran Juggernaut who wears a smooth dark iron mask covering his entire face, and intricate graphite-colored bladed and spiked body armor with tusks and bladed edges, adorned with long, ragged strips of black and red dyed leather.[4] The two-inch wide leather strips are attached to the mantle but designed not to impede his access to the multiple weapons he wears, including a hooked mace and a massive saber.[5]

Gaz Tomo called him a terrifying tactician, a warrior, and "the most recent in a long line of Cruths helming the iron will of the Ruidian military. Kind of a badass, to be honest."[6] Athion Zathuda described him as a warrior unlike anything Exandria had ever seen, riding a gargantuan bonded vidulch, Scrag.[7]

Biography[]

Ozo and his family are allied with the Weave Mind, and they control The Will,[8] sending enforcers wherever they are needed in the Imperium.[9]

His bloodline has a special psychic connection with Ruidian beasts, producing many of the slitherlords, wormlords, and vidulchlords utilized by the Imperium.[10]

In 843 PD the Sunder King visited the excavations that Sorrowlord Athion Zathuda was supervising and met with him. Cruth and Zathuda had a telepathic argument, the nature of which seemed to displease Zathuda, who eventually capitulated and said, "What thy will might be, Sunder Lord. The Vanguard will see it through." Ozo then left, escorted by his two armored avadons. When one of them stayed behind, sniffing hungrily at the team of Bells Hells members present hidden by a Seeming spell, the Sunder King impatiently called for the beast to follow him, and it obeyed.[11]

A few days later the Sunder King traveled to Exandria, becoming the leader of the army protecting the Malleus Key.[12] When the Exandrian Accord attacked the Red Center, Vox Machina went after the Key itself and faced Ozo Cruth, his vidulch mount, Scrag, and his bane worm, Vorak.[13] During the fight, the Sunder King proved to be ferocious and resilient, taking a lot of damage without stopping his attacks; at one point he chose Lady Vex'ahlia de Rolo as his target, and even though he was constantly blasted by her Blessing of the Dawnfather, he continued attacking until he killed her.[14] Shortly afterwards, Ozo withstood the many hits unleashed in retaliation by Lord Percival de Rolo, Vex'ahlia's husband, and blocked Scrag's mandibles after it got Dominated by Scanlan Shorthalt. However, he was weakened enough for Grog Strongjaw to kill him with his Bloodaxe, after which Grog put his hand inside the Sunder King's open wound to move his head like a puppet.[15]

Like other members of his bloodline, Sunder King Ozo Cruth has a psychic connection with the beasts of the land,[16] and he specifically has bonded with a mighty vidulch, Scrag, and a bane worm, Vorak.[17] He has telepathic abilities.[18]

  • Multiattack: 4 attacks, 1 time with Carnage, then 3 times with Bone Graver
  • Creature summoning: Cruth screeched, causing armored flaps on his neck to open and summoning "Vorak", a massive armored and spined worm creature.[19]
  • Frenzied Wrath: Ozo takes 3 initial attacks. For each that hits, he can make an additional attack, continuing to attack until he accumulates 3 misses.[20] Once used, Ozo rolls at the beginning of a turn to see if it recharges.[21]
  • Whirling Parry: As a reaction, Ozo can add +3 to his AC until the end of his turn.[22]
  • Legendary actions
    • Both Scrag and Vorak make an immediate melee attack (3 legendary actions)[23]
    • Surge: regains the use of his reaction that round[24]

Notable items[]

  • Bone Graver, a hooked mace that demonstrated 17 points of bludgeoning damage[25]
  • Carnage, a massive barbed glass sword that can be fired 60 feet away[26]. Demonstrated 24 piercing damage and pulls the target toward the wielder on a successful hit.[27]
  • Multiple other weapons[28]
