Orwyn is the half-orc assistant to Sightwarden Cerrit Agrupnin, and a member of the Eyes of Avalir. As an NPC in Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, Orwyn is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.

Appearance[]

Orwyn was a burly, leather-clad half-orc with one missing tusk. His hair was pulled into a long ponytail wrapped with a leather cord.[3]

Biography[]

Orwyn was a member of the Eyes of Avalir and Cerrit's former partner.[4].

While Avalir was parked over Vasselheim just prior to the events of Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, the sightwardens of the city received a report from Vasselheim's constabulary that Archmage Vespin Chloras had gone missing under circumstances that made Vasselheim suspect possible heresy had been committed. They were checking if he had stowed away on Avalir. The scene left behind when he disappeared resembled those left after wizards in the past had unsuccessfully attempted to recreate the Raven Queen's Ritual of Seeding, except that in this case, there was no body remaining.[5] Orwyn was dismissive of the idea that the ritual had actually succeeded, saying that if Vespin had ascended, they would have heard about it.[6]

Vasselheim also wanted to get rid of the magical items remaining in the room, so Avalir took them to break down in the arcane furnace to add to the city's stored magical ether. However, a member of the Ring of Silver intervened, telling them the items were of academic importance and asking them to put them aside.[7] After Cerrit realized that Chloras had summoned something powerful that got the better of him, he asked Orwyn to lock everything down, catalogue the evidence, write up a report, and keep it between the two of them.[8]

During the first night of the Calamity and the massive invasion of Avalir by devils, Cerrit was hit by a Detect Thoughts cast by one of the attacking K'nauthi clerics and forced to think of Orwyn and the items recovered from Vespin Chloras's ritual. When Cerrit returned to the Hall of Eyes, he found Orwyn's dead body in his office, although Orwyn had taken out a couple of his assailants with him. In his hands were two Runes of Recall with a written note for Cerrit: "I don't know how much time we got. They're for your kids. They're keyed to the mom. Wishing you all the.."[9]

Appearances and mentions[]

Trivia[]

  • His name derives from the Old English name Eoforwine, combining the terms for "wild boar" (eofor) and "friend" (wine). This is a reference in a certain way to his relationship with Cerrit, since he's a half-orc (thus having tusks like a boar) and a friend and allie of Cerrit.
