Dusk General Okirai is an elven warrior and a follower of the Moonweaver. As an NPC, Okirai is played by Matthew Mercer.
Description[]
Okirai is an elven man with black hair with white highlights, facial tattoos, and heterochromia, with one of his eyes glowing gold. He wears armor, a blue cape, and a big symbol of his goddess hanging around his neck.[1]
He seems to be cautious.[2]
Biography[]
During the Crisis of the Red Solstice of 843 PD, the gods sent several of their followers to fight against the alliance between the Ruby Vanguard and the Kreviris Imperium, since they were working to free Predathos the God Eater. Dusk General Okirai was among the holy warriors that traveled from Lake Umamu to Ruidus, prepared to fight the forces of the Red End and potentially seal it along with its vessel. The army found Bells Hells in the tunnels beneath the red moon, who claimed that they had dealt with Predathos, and the Dusk General was called forward to speak with them and get confirmation of their victory; during the conversation, however, he was cautious, and when he looked at one of the angels present and received confirmation that Imogen Temult had the God Eater inside of her, the army prepared to fight. Okirai didn't attack immediately, and tried to stop Vusono, a cleric of the Ruiner, who ignored him and used Divine Intervention. When her deity didn't smite the adventurers, Okirai explained that they couldn't harm the vessel without freeing the entity she contained, so he asked for the adventurers' demands; after Ashton Greymoore told him to apologize for the rudeness of his companions, they were told that Imogen indeed contained Predathos but they had things to discuss, and Bells Hells asked to be brought to Vasselheim. The Dusk General paled and hesitated, but when the angels confirmed that the gods wanted the group to continue, Okirai agreed to escort them to the Dawn City. They all returned to Exandria, and he, like others, grabbed his holy symbol realizing his deity felt the arrival of the Red End. Through Transport via Plants they arrived in Vasselheim, encountering multiple soldiers ready to attack them.[3]

Trivia[]
- His name could derive from the Japanese okiru (起きる), which can mean "to rise", "to wake up", or "to blaze up" depending on the context.
- The "Dusk General" title presumably relates to the Moonweaver's associations with moonlight and shadows,[4] though the forces at Fort Daxio in Tal'Dorei include a Dusk Regiment that is commanded by a general,[5] and one of the senior figures of the Kryn Dynasty holds the title of "Dusk Captain".[6]
