Obsidian Flint Dragon Plate is a suit of magical armor worn by Arkhan.
Description[]
Appearance[]

Official art of Arkhan wearing the dark, jagged plate, by Kit Buss.[art 2]
The jagged armor is composed of hooked and bladed, black obsidian-metal with green dragon scales embedded throughout the main plates.[1][2]
Outside Critical Role canon, the armor is depicted as having the five-headed dragon sigil of Tiamat built into the chest plate.[3]
Properties[]
The armor grants its wearer an additional +2 bonus to AC and resistance to poison damage. Also, because of the armor's sharp edges, the wearer has advantage on checks to break non-magical grapples.[1][4]
History[]
There was no mention of Arkhan wearing the distinctive plate in his adventure with Keyleth and Percival de Rolo in 810 PD.[5]
But just as Tiamat had sent Arkhan on the mission with Keyleth and Percival to find the Wreath of the Prism, the dragon goddess continued to send Arkhan visions in dreams to reveal the location of artifacts, including this suit of armor, that would help him serve her.[6]
So in early 812 PD, when Vox Machina encountered Arkhan in their final push to confront Vecna, the paladin was wearing the jagged black armor.[7]
Trivia[]

- Arkhan has been depicted in Dungeons & Dragons works outside of Critical Role canon wearing the armor, while also bearing Fane-Eater, another item he carried when he was introduced in "The Final Ascent" (1x113).[8][9] In the same works, he has two things he acquired in Critical Role canon, the Hand of Vecna[10] and a pet manticore[11] named Chango.[12]
- Due partly to this armor, Arkhan has the second-highest AC (at 24) of any player character to appear on Critical Role thus far – surpassed only by Zerxus Ilerez's AC of 25.[13]
- Because Arkhan generally wears heavy armor, he would ordinarily not gain any benefits of rage, aside from getting to attack a third time with a bonus action due to Frenzy. However, he appears to have gained some traditional benefits, including rolling a Strength (Athletics) check with advantage.[14]
