Nera is a half-elven scout from Kraghammer.

Appearance[]
Nera is a female half-elf with brown eyes, brown skin, and "slender" hands.[1][4] When Vax'ildan and Vex'ahlia met her, she wore "sensible" green and brown clothing and carried a bow.[1] She also had a cloak, in which she mended a tear.[4]

Background[]
Nera was born to a elven parent from Syngorn, and was sent to live in a Syngornian outpost.[2] She "rebelled by going to live in Kraghammer."[2]
Kith & Kin[]
Around 807 PD,[5] Nera and her two dwarven companions were hired by Master Simeon and Lord Willan to accompany them from Turst Fields to Jorenn Village.[3] Along their journey, their group crossed paths with a messenger travelling between Turst Fields and Westruun; she described them as merchants and informed Vax'ildan and Vex'ahlia that they might catch up to them.[6]
The following evening, Nera and her party made camp with Jorenn Village in view.[7] The twins and Trinket did indeed catch up to them, and asked to camp with them.[1] Nera took the first watch while the others ate and got ready to sleep.[8] Vax'ildan later joined her; he commented that Nera didn't seem to like his sister, and Nera guessed correctly that the twins were from Syngorn.[9] During their conversation, ash walkers descended upon the camp.[2] Nera's leg was injured in the fight, and she threw paper on the fire that created sparks, as a kind of signal flare.[10] Nera and her fellow travellers, except for Vax'ildan and some of their ponies, were rescued by riders from the Shadewatch; Vax'ildan was rescued by the outlaw miners, while all but two of the horses were killed by the ash walkers.[11] The Shadewatch brought the travellers to Jorenn Village and told them there would be rooms for them at The Scattered Bar.[12] A healer and a messenger brought Nera to the town hall to treat her injuries.[11]
The next day, Vex'ahlia found Nera outside The Scattered Bar, speaking to a human man.[13] She was fatigued and limping, but able to travel; she intended to leave for Westruun that day, and perhaps travel on to Kraghammer after.[14] She told Vex she would look for signs of Vax along the way.[14] After Nera left, the two scholars then found a guide to lead them into the Grey Valley, while her dwarven companions returned to Turst Fields.[15]
Several days later, at the climax of the conflict between the Shadewatch and the outlaw miners, Vex lied and told Shademaster Derowen that Nera was part of her contingency plan: Vex had given Nera the stolen notebook, and she would bring it to the Clasp in Westruun if Vex or Vax were harmed.[16]
