Nathaniel Trapp is a veteran of the recent war in Newfaire, and a journalist for the Civil Tribune newspaper. He is played by Travis Willingham.

Description[]

Nathaniel Trapp comes from old money, and has despised his family for as long as he can remember. Repulsed by the arrogance and weight his family's name carries, Nathan has strived to distance himself from his name and be a check against the evils that come when too much power is amassed by a single family in Newfaire. Nathan's higher education allowed him to become an officer, which is where he met some of the other fellows at the table. But the horrors of the war only gave way to the revelations of horror committed by his family, this time in the name of expansion and public transit. Determined to hold those in power accountable, Nathaniel joined The Civil Tribune newspaper to investigate corruption and shine a light in the shadows of Newfaire.

Nathaniel's clothing looks expensive, although he tries to hide it. He wears a pocket watch, a beard, and two weathered but currently empty leather holsters.[2] He has piercing blue eyes. After the events of "Candela Obscura: Eye for an Eye" (CO2x01), the right eye's vision turned completely white[3] but the only outward sign was a slight discoloration to the pupil and some creeping scarring that he attempted to disguise with makeup.[4] After the attack at the Chapter House in "Candela Obscura: Flesh and Blood" (CO2x02), he carried an officer's revolver in one of the holsters.[5]

Biography[]

Background[]

When Nathaniel was nine years old, his older brother was caught by waves as he waded out into a river to fetch one of Nathaniel's toys, and instead of helping him, Nathaniel froze and watched him drown.[6]

Nathaniel was Marion and Sean's former lieutenant and commanding officer in the army.[7]

Nathaniel's introduction to Candela Obscura involved investigating his family's railroad and metro operations, during which Allison Suarez, a member of the circle of Silver Flame, sacrificed herself to save him from a dark entity, transforming her horribly. Although Nathaniel ran from the creature he encountered in a metro station, Allison pursued and distracted it with a lantern and a large mirror until her compatriots arrived and burned it, but her body was transformed due to her proximity to the creature. Nathaniel was given a Candela pin and an address to go to if he had questions.[8]
