A harness around the big man? I think that would be quite a formidable steed.

A mount or steed is a creature used as transport by another creature.

History[]

Horses were commonly used as mounts in Tal'Dorei[2][3] and Wildemount.[4][5] In Kraghammer, goat-like celestials called goat-knight steeds were used as steeds by the Peakclimber Knights of Kraghammer.[6]

Wyverns were used as mounts by both the Draconian army and a collection of sky-based pirates encountered by Vox Machina on the way to Vasselheim.[7] They are also ridden by the skyswimmers of Lyrengorn.[8]

Massive, wooly flot goats are used as mounts by the Glassblades of Uthodurn in the Greying Wildlands of Wildemount.[9] Uthodurn also stables cliffneck goats,[10] which may or may not be the same thing.

Camels are used for transport in the Rumedam Desert,[11] though as of yet they have not been explicitly shown as mounts, only as draft animals.[12]

Simurghs are massive creatures native to the Oderan Wilds of Marquet. They are used as mounts by Sky Wardens, who patrol the skies above Jrusar.[13]

Sillgoats are often used as mounts in the city of Jrusar in lieu of horses, as sillgoats are sure-footed, strong, and more comfortable at the heights of the city.[14]

Uses by Vox Machina[]

Horses[]

The adventuring party Vox Machina occasionally rode mounts when needed, although usage lessened as they gained access to long-distance teleportation, such as Keyleth's Transport via Plants spell. They rode on horseback when traveling to Westruun,[15] Jorenn Village,[16] and Kraghammer for the first time.[17] While on their mission to find and slay a white dragon for the Slayer's Take in Vasselheim, Vex'ahlia, Scanlan Shorthalt, Percival de Rolo, Strongjaw, as well as their new allies Lyra and Zahra Hydris rode horses to the Vesper Timberland.[18] Later Vox Machina bought a couple of additional horses for the rest of the group for the travel to home of the Fire Ashari.[19] Back in Tal'Dorei they bought horses in Westruun to travel to Whitestone,[20] but lost them to the harpies on the Salted Bluffs trail.[21]

Another means[]

While in the Underdark, Tiberius Stormwind used a flying Grog Strongjaw as a mount due to the group's limitations in mobility.[22] On their way to Whitestone, Vox Machina stumbled upon a bridge. Tiberius cast fly on Trinket and rode him across the crevice.[23]

Uses by the Mighty Nein[]

Main article: The Mighty Nein's mounts

The Mighty Nein inherited a horse named Winter's Crest and a cart from the disbanded circus.[24] On the way to Zadash, passing through the Alfield, they bought an additional horse, later named Loaf.[25] On the Amber Road the Mighty Nein were attacked by group of unlucky bandits. After their defeat, the party took the bandits' horses for themselves.[26] In Shady Creek Run, the Mighty Nein acquired four horses from the Iron Shepherds' stables.[27] Two of them then were cut loose to ease the travel.[28]
