Mishi the Curfew Creature[1]
[!h]

Mishi is the curfew creature at the Wildemount Wildlings camp. As an NPC, Mishi is played by Sam Riegel.

Description[]

Mishi is a polar bear-sized blue and purple furry creature with glowing eyes, floppy ears, a feathery tail, and a soft, calm voice. She watches everything,[2] and cares more about the curfew itself than about safety. She doesn't like to share other people's secrets, but she's also vain and greedy (especially because she isn't paid), and can be persuaded through bribes and/or flattery.[3]

Biography[]

Mishi in her tower - Toff Mazery

Official art of Mishi in her tower, by Toff Mazery.[art 2]

Mishi lives in the Curfew Creature Tower that overlooks all of the Wildemount Wildlings camp, and from which she is always looking.[4] When Beauregard Lionett climbed the tower to get a good view of the camp, Mishi calmly informed her that this was her tower and Beau needed to leave. Mishi's voice dropped menacingly when Beau asked what happened to children out after curfew, saying that they got "punished". She also told Beau she could pay if she wanted to stay, and Mishi liked shiny things, "like coins and baubles and jewelry." 50 silver was sufficient payment for Beau to stay for a few minutes, since Mishi wasn't paid by the camp.[5]

Later, several of the campers attracted Mishi's attention from the ground. She told them it was 3 hours and 30 minutes to curfew, and immediately saw through Kai's attempt to deceive her that he was a counselor. When they asked if she knew where the pig creature had gone, she admitted she did, but that she believed everyone was entitled to privacy and would not tell them. Padmund Pondhop tried arguing that giving them the information would protect the safety and wellbeing of the camp, but Mishi didn't care about that. She only cared about curfew. Finally, Kai promised her autographed Mighty Nein cards from the card game that Padmund was developing, along with a holographic card representing herself, and she accepted. Although she still wouldn't tell them where the creature went, she told them where it wasn't, leaving only one possible location where it could be.[6]

After the campers found and defeated a gigantic pan creature hiding beneath the camp, Mishi inexplicably appeared in front of them, telling them it was after curfew. She teleported them to the Hubbub Hub, the central meeting point of the camp, congratulating them on their survival and asking them to let her know when Padmund's cards came out.[7]

  • Mishi: I love watching.

    Mishi: For sure they do.
Beau: Okay, all right. I'm just going to get back to paying attention, if that's okay.
Mishi: All right, I'll just watch.
Beau: Watch me or watch them?
    Mishi: Yes.[9]
  • Mishi: There's two things I believe in more than anything. One, is that curfew (darkly) must be observed, and the other is everyone's right to privacy.[10]
