Maeve is a half-elf druid of the Air Ashari in Zephrah. As an NPC, Maeve is played by Matthew Mercer.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Maeve is a half-elven woman with long blond hair in a bulb-like style, adorned with red flowers. She looks very similar to her sister Leeta,[4] and presumably also to Baernie, the third triplet. She wore a leather breastplate and a long flowing robe.[5]
Personality[]
Maeve is confident in her abilities, introducing herself as "one of the druid guardians of the village. Kind of a talented one if I say so myself."[6]
Biography[]
Maeve was born at some point before 813 PD as the daughter of Derrig and Nel. She was part of a triplet set, having two sisters, Baernie and Leeta, and a younger brother called Will.[7][8] She took an interest in nature magic, working with her mother (a herbalist) but eventually focusing completely on becoming a druid;[9] they both taught Orym (a local halfling child and a friend of Will) about magical plant-based healing, although he wasn't very talented in that particular area.[10] Some time later the fighter would end up becoming part of their family when he married Will, thus becoming Maeve's brother-in-law,[11] and staying close to her father and siblings.[12][13][14]
Circa 837 PD[15] Maeve lost her father and her brother during an attack on Keyleth in Zephrah, since both were part of her defense team as the Master of Defense and a member of the Tempest Blades respectively.[16][17]
As of 843 PD Maeve had become a more active part in the defense of Zephrah using her druidic powers,[18] and helping her sister Leeta, who was now the right hand of the Voice of the Tempest.[19][20][21] Orym, on the other hand, had left Zephrah to investigate the deaths of his loved ones, becoming an adventurer.[22] Maeve was present at the Battle of the Red Center at the beginning of the apogee solstice where Keyleth was badly wounded.[23]
Afterward, Maeve and several other Ashari became very protective of both their leader and their home. When Bells Hells Teleported to Zephrah the half-elf attacked them with wind magic, stopping the moment she realized Orym was with them. She greeted her brother-in-law warmly, and accompanied them to the home of the Voice of the Tempest. Later, when the leader of the Air Ashari sent the adventurers to the Grey Valley to look for the people sent there, Maeve cast Transport via Plants for them.[24]
Many days later Leeta and Maeve were among the Air Ashari sent to the outpost in Ria'Doin, to protect a portal connected to Ruidus. A week after being there they met with Orym and Bells Hells in the Platinum Sanctuary of Vasselheim, greeting the halfling warmly and escorting him and his friends to the outpost, with Maeve casting Transport via Plants; shortly before doing so Laudna asked her about "Ropey", but the druid didn't know what she was talking about. Maeve stayed with the group for a bit, informing Orym that both of their mothers were okay and that Baernie was keeping an eye on them; when the halfling took a moment to remember Derrig, Maeve pointed out that like him, he didn't always share his feelings, and he responded that even then he loved his family deeply. They hugged, and the druid told Orym that as soon as he came back she wanted to get drunk with him to hear about his adventures, after which she transformed into an owl and flew away.[25] Later, when Bells Hells and the Mighty Nein were ready to cross the portal Leeta announced them with great ceremony,[26] and Maeve hugged Orym one last time before joining the rest of the Ashari spellcasters as they parted the waters of Lake Umamu to expose the portal.[27]
Maeve was present in Zephrah when Bells Hells visited after the gods became mortals. She greeted Orym and the party and directed Orym where he could find the Voice of the Tempest. She also agreed to organize a big dinner with their family for the Crown Keepers.[28]

Trivia[]
- Her name comes from the Middle Irish Mebd, meaning "strong" or "intoxicating". The name itself could be a reference to her knowledge of plants and their properties.
- Maeve is the only one of the triplets whose name has been spelled correctly since it was revealed. Her sisters' names used to be spelled "Berenie" and "Lita" until Liam O'Brien confirmed the spelling for "Aid of the Tempest" (3x66).
