Luz was a tiefling priestess of the Moonweaver around the time of the Divergence. As an NPC, Luz was played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.

Description[]

Appearance[]

Luz was a beautiful woman with horns that swept back and upward. When refugees arrived at Torm's Hill, she was wearing unusual clothing for the time—robes of well-made white fabric with fancy stitching and embroidery on the cowl and vest, all covered by a traveler's cloak. The robes were badly frayed at the bottom, and her clothes were wet from the recent storms. Most strikingly (to others in the south of Gwessar at the time), she also openly wore a symbol of the Moonweaver.[2]

Personality[]

Luz was a kind and idealistic woman who had a lot of expectations about the future.[3]

Biography[]

Background[]

Luz grew up during the Calamity as a friend of Liana and Rei'nia Saph, half-elven sisters with whom she shared stories about Sehanine the Moonweaver, causing them to develop their own personal beliefs connected to the goddess and Catha.[4]

At some point Luz traveled to Torm's Hill and became their resident cleric. More than a year before the Divergence, the parents of her childhood friends visited the town, but left again while the tiefling was out on a mission. Similarly, Liana visited looking for them and stayed for months, hoping for Nia to come too, before leaving again (after receiving a vision of her parents connected to the Snowgrave Pass).[5]

"Seven of Them" (E4x02)[]

When Rei'nia and her friends arrived in Torm's Hill, Luz heard about it and ran into Erro Mordaurum while he was out looking for Nia. Luz told him that Liana was still alive, and he told her about their journey in turn; the tiefling was very affected by their suffering in Rybad-Kol, but felt some comfort thinking about change actually coming, despite what the prisoners had been told by their jailers. She was brought to Nia and they were happily reunited, talking about Liana and her destination; Luz explained to her friend that she couldn't leave the town because she was using the power of the Moonweaver to help people, but when Ondetra (a local woman) expressed her annoyance, they continued their conversation elsewhere.

Later that day, soldiers of the Strife Emperor appeared (having tracked halfling thieves who had stolen from them) and tried to force the people to leave Torm's Hill. A battle ensued when Erro attacked and his party began rousing the populace to rebellion. Initially Nia made Luz walk away with the most vulnerable people around, but moments later she changed her mind and encouraged her friend to stay and fight alongside them. The strongest enemy, however, was a captain that noticed the tiefling's holy symbol, and cut it with his sword at the same time he caused a fatal wound. Although retribution came when Nia used that very symbol to kill the captain (as she channeled the power of the moon through it), Luz kept bleeding. When Nez Pilch was helping the wounded after the soldiers' defeat, she noticed that it was too late for her, so she helped Garen instead. When Nia returned to her friend she tried to reanimate her, even though she was gone, and Erro had to stop her.

Luz and the others fallen in battle were buried in a cemetery near the Larksbrook river.[6]

"Mirror and Key" (E4x03)[]

Days later, when Nia met the Moonweaver, she asked about Luz, and when she showed the goddess her holy symbol, Luz's spirit appeared before them, smiling and surrounded by faeries of wind and ice.

Relationships[]

Luz was a friend to the matriarchs who ran Torm's Hill, Klasara Bandy and Nez Pilch.[7]
