Lou Diamond Phillips is an actor, director, and writer who is perhaps best known for his breakthrough role as Ritchie Valens in the 1987 film La Bamba. He appeared on several episodes of Blindspot, in which Ashley Johnson had a starring role, and in Elena of Avalor, which Sam Riegel directed. From 2012 through 2017, he played Henry Standing Bear in the television series Longmire. He is the author of two novels: The Tinderbox: Soldier of Indira and The Tinderbox: Underground Movement.
He portrays the father of Anna Ripley in The Legend of Vox Machina, Season Three.[2]

Lou was born at an American naval station in the Philippines as Lou Diamond Upchurch. His father died in Lou's childhood and he was adopted by his stepfather, taking his last name Phillips. He grew up mainly in Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington, majoring in Drama.
