At some time after Scanlan Shorthalt gained notoriety as a hero, he pestered the kitchen staff of the Laughing Lamia to develop a food reminiscent of his purple Bigby's Hand: a hand pie with blackberry glaze and blackberry filling.[9]
Trivia[]
- A lamia is a monster in Dungeons & Dragons[10] that is based on the eponymous creature from Greek myths. In the original myths the creature had a serpentine lower body, but in D&D the lower body is that of a lion.
- When asked about about the inn's signage, Matt said he has envisioned lamias with a lion body, rather than a serpentine one.[11] However, the serpentine version was depicted in Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins, Series III, Issue #6.
- The Laughing Lamia was also featured in the opening of Talks Machina from "Talks Machina #1: 'Where the Cards Fall'" (TMx01) through "Talks Machina #48: 'Lvl 20 Battle Royale'" (TMx48).[12] The opening was drawn by Wendy Sullivan Green.
