Biography[]
Background[]
At one point in his life Kexon teamed up with the Menagerie and became an adventurer.
"Critical Role plays Daggerheart" (Sx83)[]
The Menagerie's first job was to fix the Velvet Grove after some of its inhabitants asked them for help.
After staying for a bit in the house of a veteran adventurer, Everett, the Menagerie went to the forest. While investigating a strange sound, Kexon encountered Echo, a two-headed owl who demanded that they prove their worth before allowing them to continue; to do so, the wizard admitted that he feared disappointing his family and not obtaining knowledge. Shortly after they were attacked by corrupted hedge bears, and the faerie used fire against them; when only one of the beasts remained, Kexon cast Mysterious Mist to protect his friends while Xarlo Grandall examined the bear. Later, the adventurers found a corpse, and Xarlo recognized him as Wild Cullen, a friend of the seraph; Kexon helped examining the body, determining that he had been attacked by surprise and got hit in the head. When they finally found the source of the corruption in the forest, they had to fight the now-corrupted Glen Warder, Boko, who attacked them; Kexon helped Sweetpea Betabean restrain it with magic, but shortly after the guardian attacked them, and the wizard got hit by a rock. With some effort, the adventurers contained it long enough to get rid of the corruption, and the fane guardian recovered his senses.
"The Menagerie Returns!" (Sx84)[]
The adventurers (minus Pango, who went underground to do his own research) decided to go to Bunnie's hometown in order to find Dyson, and when they finally arrived, a few days later, the faun brought them to the Lily Locket Lounge, a theatre full of performers and art. There, a magician tried to impress Oppy with one of his tricks, but Kexon used his own skills to expose him by revealing the secret of said trick; later they encouraged Bunnie to perform instead of an injured co-worker, and thanks to that same performer, they learned that Dyson had been seen in town recently.
Following the clues they had, the adventurers went to a casino, where Kexon located Dyson playing in one of the tables; Bunnie convinced the man to follow her into the bathroom (that Kexon closed with Runic Lock), and after some interrogation, they learned that he had taken a "package" to the forest on the orders of Mortimer Kroatona, a member of the local mafia family. They went into the sewers looking for Mortimer, and when Oppy was being swept away by the current, the wizard cast Time Lock to lock his friend's staff in space and time, allowing him to hold on. Eventually they found a secret basement with Mortimer and some of his agents inside. A battle ensued, and Kexon protected Sir Danté from an axe using Arcane Deflection, after which he stayed with his friends. After the fight was over the group (using magic and lies) convinced Mortimer that his men had betrayed him, and to better persuade him Kexon created a Wall of Flame against them. Mortimer was initially convinced, but as they were leaving, more gangsters arrived, and Mortimer got more suspicious. Kexon tried to stop some of the gangsters using Time Lock, but when it was clear that the area had become too dangerous, he and his friends left, realizing soon after that Bunnie and Sweetpea had been captured.
"Ménagerie a Trois" (Sx85)[]
Kexon briefly considered leaving their friends behind, but Danté and Oppy were firmly against it, so they started wondering how to get them back; luckily, the two of them managed to escape, meeting the rest of the Menagerie and running away. When they hid in an alleyway, Sweetpea used her magic to disguise the entire group as sexy ladies to avoid being recognized when performing with Bunnie: Kexon chose to look like a lady with broad shoulders and impressive makeup.

When they returned to the Lily Locket Lounge they decided that while the rest of the team performed on stage, Kexon and Oppy would do some crowd work, to investigate about a mysterious baron that, according to Mortimer Kroatona, was behind the corruption in the Emerald Sky; as a precaution, Bunnie established a telepathic connection with the wizard before starting her number. While Oppy pretended to be a waitress, Kexon was simply walking among the audience, listening to conversations; at one point they started speaking with two men, and Oppy tried to gain their trust using the disguised faerie (who had chosen the alias "Tata") as bait, but Kexon ended up getting uncomfortable and walked away. After they learned that a performer named Mafauna might have tried to sabotage Bunnie's performance, the adventurers decided to pay her with the same coin, subtly interfering with her number; when she was bowing, Kexon Time Locked her wig, embarrassing her for a few moments. Mafauna ended up attacking the Menagerie with her back dancers, and Kexon embarrassed a second time using Shape Material to create a trap door under her, making her fall. When Mafauna came out, however, she used her charms to force Danté to attack Xarlo, but Kexon intervened with Arcane Deflection, protecting the seraph. Eventually they managed to neutralize Mafauna and her team, making the audience believe it was all a staged fight.
They went to the local mines (closed because of a favor from the baron to the Kroatona family) to investigate, and after some effort and guile using the remaining time with their sexy disguises (which led to Kexon Runic Locking the man they had collectively seduced inside a room), the Menagerie reached a cave. Guided by the wizard's lights they investigated for a bit, and although they didn't find anything hidden, not even with the Reveal spell, eventually they found crystals with an abscess of corruption, and a glowing hydra defending it. The adventurers fought the monster, and during the battle Kexon defended himself with his magic, but he was hurt and needed Xarlo to heal him; even with the simiah's assistance, at one point one of the heads of the hydra bit and swallowed Kexon. The wizard was at death's door, but remembering his family he gained enough strength to survive and make his way out of the creature who, after the crystals were destroyed, lost its regeneration and was killed by the party.
