Kephekedriel was a peculiar elven member of The Roaches, a gang in Rybad-Kol prison. As an NPC, Kephekedriel was played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.
Description[]
Kephekedriel (or "Keph") was a gaunt elven man, with a roach tattoo on the back of his neck. When first seen in the prison kitchen, he was wearing an absolutely filthy blood-soaked apron and happily cutting up meat. He seemed to have a fondness for bad puns.[1] The other members viewed him with suspicion, not being sure if he was crazy or he was just "like that".[2]
Biography[]
Kephekedriel was a member of The Roaches, the gang of which Fiedra Marrow was the leader, and worked in the kitchens of Rybad-Kol prison along with its other members. He was part of the group when the other members discussed possible plans to free Crokas from being sent off to be eaten by the Scaled Tyrant, dragging a horse leg with him.[3] When the guard Acherus Blix came in and said he'd take a seat, Kephekedriel leaned against him and said, "I could be your chair."[4] Later, he referred to the horse leg as his new walking stick.[5] Keph and the other Roaches remained in the kitchen while Fiedra went to serve dinner to the visiting dignitaries later that night.[6] After the prison was destroyed, Fiedra searched unsuccessfully for the rest of the gang in its ruins[7] before leaving for Torm's Hill.
When Fiedra's party reached Torm's Hill, Otto and Taveen rushed to greet her, explaining that they and Keph had survived the fall of the prison by hiding under a gigantic cooking pot and rolling in it. However, along the road Kephekedrial had run into some friends, and Otto and Taveen suspected he might be like 200 years old. They watched as he took a bite out of a guy's face in front of a bonfire, and heard people talking about the gods being dead and they were the new gods, and Kephedriel "got naked and he walked into the fire and started burning and laughing." Otto and Taveen opted to leave him with the group and move on.[8]
Fiedra eventually returned to Gwessar and reunited with the Roaches. Years later, they heard of strange marauders to the north, and on investigating, found them in a swamp near what became Stilben. One of them was Kephekedriel, who greeted her and invited her to join their budding horde. She, however, pointed out to him that the world had become a much more welcoming place, and he recognized he wanted to change. Slitting the throat of a compatriot who disagreed, he joined Fiedra and the Roaches.[9]
