K'nukis, the Iron Scorpion,[2] was a demonic[1] dignitary and follower of the Betrayer Gods just before the Divergence. As an NPC, K'nukis is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.
Description[]
Appearance[]
The Iron Scorpion had a humanoid upper body, with elongated ears and sharp fangs; however, the lower part of his body was bestial like a centaur with the body of a scorpion instead of a horse. Among his possessions was a massive amulet representing the symbols of all the Betrayer Gods.[3]
Personality[]
He was surprisingly affable and enjoyed parties and wine.[4]
Biography[]
Background[]
K'nukis was a servant of the Spider Queen,[citation needed] although during the Calamity he was an ally and dignitary among the followers of other Betrayer Gods, obtaining a place of honor in Rybad-Kol.
"Give and Take" (E4x01)[]
Days before the Divergence the Iron Scorpion visited Rybad-Kol and was one of the diners at the meeting held in the Steel Keep, where they discussed the state of the war. He was happy to enjoy their wine (asking Fiedra Marrow to pour more in his glass), but he also confirmed to his allies that the Spider Queen hadn't returned from her banishment after being defeated by the Stormlord, and that the Crawling King had lost most (if not all) of his forces in the Underdark. When Lord Callister pointed out that not all the Betrayer Gods were as efficient as the Strife Emperor, K'nukis encouraged the rest by pointing out that at least they knew that the Prime Deities were weakened and less predisposed to conflict; they then kept talking about how to keep control of the situation so that their forces wouldn't notice it had been some time since last time their side carried out an offensive.[5] Shortly afterwards, however, the Strife Emperor and the Wildmother with her divine and mortal allies had a climactic battle at the prison and the forces aligned with the Betrayer Gods were annihilated, presumably including the Iron Scorpion.

Quotations[]
- "The time for propaganda is at an end, at least here in these circles. The Spider Queen is banished. The Crawling King's minions have been utterly routed. Those caverns of the Underdark, they are empty of his soldiers, and now the Ruiner has fallen as well."[6]
Trivia[]
- In Dungeons & Dragons lore, there are monstrosities called "tlincallis" that have a humanoid upper body attached to the lower body of a giant scorpion.[7]
- That K'nukis has pointed ears and the lower body of a giant arachnid is also reminiscent of a drider, a monstrous creation of the Spider Queen that combines drow and giant spider in a single body.
- The description of the Iron Scorpion also resembles that of Vulkoor, a scorpion god worshiped in Eberron.
