Jotunborg is a giant fortress city located somewhere within the Neverfields, the icy wastelands on the northernmost edges of the continent of Tal'Dorei. From there, High King Jorskymmar commands the fealty of all the petty jarls who lead the mostly nomadic frost giants of the region.[1]
Its inhabitants are famous because they have managed to tame multiple dangerous creatures that they use to raid human villages,[1] including white dragons. Moreover, the giants of this particular settlement are very pious, praying to Melora for protection against the elements, or to Tharizdun to cope with the threat of death and eternal cold.[2]
Trivia[]
- Its name is composed by the Old Norse terms jǫtunn (meaning "glutton" or "giant") and borg (meaning "stronghold" or "city"), so the full name could be translated as "city of the giants". In Norse mythology the jötunn was a type of divine entity with great strength and magical powers, usually at odds with the other gods.
