Jonathan Frakes is an American actor and director best known for his role of William T. Riker on several Star Trek films and television series such as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager or Star Trek: First Contact, in which Jonathan is also directed several episodes. Jonathan's work as a director for episodes of television series also includes Leverage, NCIS: Los Angeles, or The Librarians.[2]

Frakes was born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He began acting at a young age in junior high and high school plays, and played the trombone in his high school band. He then enrolled at Pennsylvania State University as a psychology major, and during his time at Penn State became involved with an off-campus professional theater group; this experience eventually led to Frakes changing his major to theater arts. After receiving a BFA in Theater Arts from Penn State, Frakes spent two summers studying drama at Harvard University where he graduated with a Master of Arts. On 28 May 1988, he married actress Genie Francis. [1][3]
