Jessep Nimblethorp is a teenaged sorcerer and one of the campers attending Wildemount Wildlings. She is played by Libe Barer.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Jessep is very tall (almost 6 feet), has pale blue skin, ultramarine eyes, and aquamarine hair with pale roots that has grown a bit wild. She wears a monocle.[5]
Personality[]
She is intelligent and somewhat anxious. Despite having excellent health, she is hypochondriac.[6]
Biography[]
Background[]
Jessep grew up in a very academic household, since both her parents were professors, which made her a very good student.[7] In 844 PD she was sent to the Wildemount Wildlings camp, and even though she had started manifesting magic, she wasn't able to control it. At one point a wild surge of energy caused many people to temporarily lose their hair, making her feel terrible about it.[8] She and Sky became friends, and during a race in which both of them were doing pretty badly, they came up with a song that helped with the sorcerer's anxiety.[9]
"Welcome, Campers!" (WWx01)[]

By the end of the summer, both Jessep and Sky had ended up in the OLGA cabin (along with Padmund Pondhop and Kai) for not having earned a single badge at camp. However, on the last day, Veth Brenatto gave them one last chance, leaving them with Beauregard Lionett and Yasha Nydoorin to guide the four teenagers and help them earn at least one badge before the end of the day.
Their first activity was to try to steal a pinecone from one of the veteran adventurers. Jessep was the second one to participate, facing Beau. She used Infestation so that birds made the monk let go of the item, but she caught it again moments later; the sorcerer then tried to Charm her, but her wild magic activated due to stress, and instead she caused herself to speak very loud for some minutes. Kai, in order to make her feel better, let her hold the pinecone he had stolen, and she, in turn, gave it to Padmund for ten minutes so he could Identify it and confirm they didn't have special properties. When they were done, Jessep commented that she believed working as a team would probably help them more than working alone; Padmund told her to try to focus on other emotions instead of letting her anxiety take control, and she promised she would try.
The second activity was "Tug of Peace" (renamed by Yasha), in which the couple would pull the rope against the four teenagers. During the struggle Jessep managed to create a Mage Hand to tickle Yasha's stomach, but her abs protected her. The group started losing motivation, but they ended up winning after Kai distracted the adults by screaming pretending to be hurt; Sky then declared they should have sang the song she and Jessep had, since that would have helped with the mood. Beau and Yasha encouraged them, since they were making actual progress.
The third activity was "Hide and Seek", and it was decided that Yasha would be the one hiding. After counting, Jessep teamed up with Sky, and used a spell scroll to cast Fly and bring the halfling with her, in order to look for the hidden person from the heights. Not long after they saw a monstrous pig that had trapped Yasha in its mouth. Beau arrived and put herself between the girls and the creature, and congratulated Jessep when she managed to cast Sorcerous Burst against it; however, seconds later the pig grabbed the monk with its long tongue and captured her too. After attacking the campers with depression-inducing smoke, it walked away, with Beau and Yasha in its jaws.
"Into the Wilde" (WWx02)[]
When Jessep and Sky found the other two adventurers and explained what had happened, Padmund panicked and started to walk away, but Kai convinced him to stay. Using flattery and some bribery involving the promise of her own card in Padmund's game (which Jessep supported by creating a Minor Illusion of it), the campers convinced Mishi, the Curfew Creature, to tell them where the pig was, and they went there. They found the area of the cabins covered in food, and when Padmund tried it, he decided to go inside a maze; Jessep, who had noticed that the food looked like kimchi, decided to be daring and ate some too, getting some additional health, and a strange feeling of homesickness. They all followed Padmund, trying to avoid traps, but at one point a flash of magical light left the wizard distracted, as the room started filling with lava; since he was completely overtaken by some memory of his past Jessep and Sky tried to use spells to get his attention, but that failed, and the sorcerer's wild magic made her skin turn into a different shade of blue. Kai rescued Padmund, and once he regained his senses, he jumped to help Jessep too. Since the influence of the food was still clouding her thoughts, Sky tried to help her focus by reminding her of memories from that summer, but Jessep, still distracted, ate more kimchi to regain some health. They continued, and eventually found a stranger guarding the exit, but Padmund immediately disintegrated his form by hitting him with his staff.
They arrived to the Magic Meadow, finding it filled with strange monsters. They distracted a couple of shark-like guards, and convinced them to let them pass with the excuse that they were hat makers, but then decided to ran towards the shed nearby while avoiding the monsters. When they reached the hatch Jessep used illusory magic to distract one of the enemies, giving Sky enough time to open it. When they were about to go in, a monster produced a psychic scream that knocked both Kai and Jessep unconscious; Padmund grabbed the latter to take her inside.
"Wilde Out" (WWx03)[]

Padmund healed Jessep with a potion that he was able to find in the darkness only after litting his manuscript for his card game on fire; his friends were all very impressed with the wizard's sacrifice, and Jessep immediately provided a new source of illumination by casting Light. They walked (finding some potions on the way) until they found two doors; one of them brought them to the waiting room of "Wok Wok", and Jessep led her friends as they kept moving, supported by Sky's illusory distraction and the sorcerer's own stealth. They reached a giant kitchen in which they found Beau and Yasha, as well as Wok Wok, a giant pan-like monster. A battle ensued, and Jessep immediately used her Mirror of Guilt to weaken the enemy, stopping it when it tried to hit her; she then combined Infestation with the fire of the kitchen to attack. She tried to cast Sorcerous Burst but failed, and started getting anxious; Padmund, however, noticed that and blew some oolong leaves in her direction, and the fragrance calmed her down. Eventually she and Sky defeated Wok Wok (hitting it and ruining its surface with a brain in a jar), and Padmund and Kai joined their friends to kick their enemy's fallen form.
They were brought back to the camp by Mishi, and they told Veth and the other campers what had happened, causing them to receive a lot of praise. When Padmund threatened to sue the camp the director tried to bribe him, and with Kai's intervention she ended up offering boons to the four of them. The OLGA campers received their Friendship Badge (created following Sky's suggestion) and they were officially promoted to Threebelows; they also got a free reservation to attend camp the following summer.
Later life[]
After Padmund's help and Veth's bribe (in the form of her personal supply of oolong) Jessep continued drinking tea and eventually started selling a line of ultra-soothing looseleaf. At one point someone tried to steal the business from her, and that person was found cowering in the forest with their skin mysteriously tinged with blue.[10]
Relationships[]
Skullcrusher Bloodforge[]
Jessep and Sky became close during the summer of 844 PD, bonding over their lack of skill in the different camp activities, and trying to help each other. Since they both know Halfling, they use that language to speak to each other.[11]

Trivia[]
- Her name derives from the Hebrew hosíf (to add).[26]
- Jessep's species wasn't revealed in the game, although she was described as an air genasi in a recap on critrole.com.[27] However, in "Into the Wilde" (WWx02) she mentions her Healing Hands, an aasimar trait. Moreover, her appearance also resembles that of a firbolg, with the cool-toned skin, the pinkish nose, and the height. It's possible that she simply has mixed ancestry.
- Libe Barer and Eden Riegel deliberately chose to limit their own characters' spellcasting, based on the idea that both girls were still bad at magic; incidentally, that caused Brennan Lee Mulligan (who had chosen to have only non-harmful spells for his character) to play as the best magic user, to his surprise.[28]
- Libe implied that Jessep's hairstyle is based on that of Albert Einstein.[29]
- She has asthma.[30]
- Of the four members of the OLGA cabin she is the only one who doesn't have any sort of connection to the Mighty Nein prior to the camp (Kai resembles Beau when she was younger, Sky was inspired by Caleb's magic, and Padmund wants to create a card game inspired in the adventuring party).
- She shares the lowest AC and HP stats with Padmund, at 11 and 7 respectively.
- Her favorite food is kimchi.[31]
