Jaina is a half-elf were-bear living on Rumblecusp. Before being stranded on the island, she was known as Ashelyn. As an NPC, Jaina is played by Matthew Mercer.

Appearance[]
Jaina is a half-elf female, muscular and built like a barrel. She has patches of hair across her body amongst tattered leathers, a pair of nice, standard tailored pants that are torn and dirty, and muttonchops that come down to the edge of her chin.[1]
Personality[]
Jaina appeared to be the leader of her hunting party with Pono. She was friendly to the Mighty Nein and welcomed them to the island.[2]

Background[]
Jaina stated that she thought she'd been on the island a long time, at least a few years, but she couldn't seem to remember where she was from, saying that "a lot of us here have a hard time remembering".[3] She explained that her lycanthropy was an affliction that she'd worked on most of her life.[4]
"Hunted at Sea" (2x100)[]
Jaina leaped out of the jungle in bear form to attack one of the several displacer beasts that had surrounded the Mighty Nein. She and Pono then befriended the party and escorted them back to the village. Notably, neither she nor Pono had any clear idea of where they had come from before arriving on Rumblecusp some unknown number of years earlier. She told them about the three leaders of the village (Viridian, Lukash, and Terra), and about the village's worship of the fire god Vokodo.
"A Fog Lifted" (2x106)[]
The Mighty Nein learned that Jaina's name before coming to Rumblecusp was Ashelyn. She stated that she wanted to get off the island as soon as possible.
"Devoutness and Dicks" (2x107)[]
Jaina/Ashleyn was still on the island as of the dinosaur hunt, although she declined to join the party for it.
