This article is about the paladin from Yios. For Otohan's weapon, see Ishta.

Ishto is a holy warrior from Yios and a follower of the Lawbearer working against the Ruby Vanguard. As an NPC, Ishto is played by Matthew Mercer.

Description[]

Appearance[]

Ishto is a 47-year-old man who looks older than he actually is, with tanned skin and very short white hair. At some point during or before his time as prisoner of the Vanguard he lost some teeth. He wears armor which bears a symbol of his goddess (a double-bladed axe combined with a scale) on the chest piece.[3]

Personality[]

Ishto seems to be a determined and devout man willing to fight for the Lawbearer's cause despite the dangers.

Biography[]

Background[]

Ishto was from Yios, the City of Flowing Light, and had connections with the Glistening Spire.[4] He had had a hard life.[5] At some point he became a paladin and follower of Erathis.

After the apogee solstice of 843 PD, his nation became part of an alliance against the Ruby Vanguard,[6] and he was sent to the Tishtan excavation site in order to collaborate with other warriors and mages mounting an assault there. He was acting as the bodyguard of a group gathering information when he was captured, while his comrades ended up all petrified or dead.[7]

"Rush for the Bloody Bridge" (3x82)[]

An unconscious Ishto was rescued by Bells Hells when they killed the Reiloran Shrike guards holding him prisoner. After FCG healed him, they gave him the choice either to join them in their scouting mission or just to try to get out of the area. The paladin was still very weak, but he stated that his goal was to save the realm even at the cost of his own life, and he was willing to help them as much as he could (showing some nervousness when the possibility of traveling to Ruidus was mentioned).

Although while the party was moving toward the Bloody Bridge, the paladin fell off a roof on top of Orym, despite being at the limit due to his injuries, he managed to successfully fight the members of the Vanguard that were approaching, even killing one of them with his Divine Smite. This helped all the members of Bells Hells to successfully reach the Bloody Bridge.

Relationships[]

Erathis[]

Ishto firmly believed in the Lawbearer, and reminded himself and others that she would help in their endeavor, even when things seemed to be going wrong.
