The Irriam Canyon is located south of the Ascendant Bridge Mountain and north of Hearthdell on the continent of Issylra.[1]
Description[]
The canyon is a 120 feet deep and 250 feet across crevasse in the middle of the Serratus Wilderness forest,[2] with at least one river that plunges down forming a waterfall, and its water dividing in two directions when reaching the bottom.[3]
Flora[]
The area is heavily vegetated. The plants near the shrine have a curious blue coloration.[4]
Fauna[]
There is a flowering hill that is actually a living creature, camouflaged.[5] It is friendly towards Hevestro.[6]
Notable locations[]
Shrine of the Emerald Tree[]
Beyond the living hill is the entrance, with an archway that reads, in Primordial: "Within the Verdant Tomb, we keep her spirit enduring". There is a section in the cavern with crystalline formations that cast beautiful lighting effects, leading to a room with a large green obelisk that despite glowing has a dark space in its center.[7] This is the place of rest of Oma-Dua, a Gau Drashari who protected the Irriam Canyon until she died.[8]
History[]
Somewhere in this canyon there is a shrine embedded in the rock and surrounded by blue flora. This is the home of the archdruid Hevestro, hierophant of the Emerald Tree, who taught Joan Abaddina at some point in her younger years.[9]
In 843 PD, after helping the village of Hearthdell drive out the followers of the Dawnfather that had come from Vasselheim, Bells Hells sought advice from Elder Abaddina on how to return to their respective homes, and she revealed to them that Hevestro's magic could help them so, guided by a Demithore Eidolon, the adventurers set out for the Irriam Canyon,[10] reaching it three days later after crossing the Serratus Wilderness.
When they reached the shrine they found the room with the obelisk, and in the ceiling, among the crystals, they discovered Evithorir,[11] who had attacked the shrine and killed everyone except Hevestro. The adventurers managed to kill the dark fey and free Hevestro, who the following day sent most of the adventurers away with his Transport via Plants spell. Bor'Dor, who had been revealed to be part of the Ruby Vanguard just after the battle against Evithorir, was killed by the other adventurers, and was buried in the cave, separated from the gods who had disappointed him so much in life.[12]
