Imps are lesser devils found in the Nine Hells and in the Elemental Plane of Fire, but occasionally residing peaceably among mortals on Exandria.
Description[]
Imps differ somewhat in appearance—some are dark, ashen-grey with yellow eyes,[5] others red[6]—but they are generally described as looking like tiny, leathery-skinned, winged humanoids with barbed tails and sharp teeth. They are capable of turning invisible,[7][8] and their tails have potent poison stingers.[9] Some have been seen wearing armor.[10][11]
Known imps[]

Campaign One: Vox Machina[]
- When Vox Machina investigated the home of Sir Gregory Fince, they found him slain in the basement, and encountered an imp in the upstairs library.[12]
- After Thordak escaped from the Elemental Plane of Fire and razed Pyrah, imps were among the creatures wandering through the widened, unguarded rift into the Sunderpeak Mountains.[13] Vox Machina didn't encounter any by the time they returned to the Cindergrove.
- Vasa worked for Ipkesh in the City of Dis.[14]
- Also in Dis, Vox Machina attacked two imps who had been invisibly helping Utugash operate the traps in his throne chamber.[15]
- The messenger Senokir sends across the planes to Vox Machina is an imp.[16]
- Demistrik was an imp living with Sprigg.[17] When that house was destroyed, he quickly made his way to another home in Kraghammer.[18]
Campaign Two: The Mighty Nein[]
- The Mighty Nein encountered three imps while fighting Kylre.[19]
- Two imps reside in Ava Endlewood's shop in Uthodurn. Reani knows about them, but Samliel hasn't told her to kill them.[20]
- Fjord inadvertently discovered an imp in Vess DeRogna's tower.[21]
Campaign Three: Bells Hells[]

Watching through the Occultus Thalamus, Bells Hells saw that imps were among the extraplanar entities bound into submission by the mages of Aeor at its height. At least one enforcer of the Torian Guard had one, Slitch, as a familiar, advising him, but he could seal him inside a glass emblem whenever he wanted.[22] The imp, however, was stolen by Emhira (a mortal avatar of the Matron of Ravens), and the imp was actually very happy to serve her and betray Aeor.[23]
Specials[]
- In "CelebriD&D with Game of Thrones' John Bradley", the tiefling warlock Dietrich has a nervous, red-skinned imp familiar nicknamed "PBH" who will disappear if his real name is spoken.[24]
- In the Vox Machina vs. Mighty Nein battle royale, an imp ate the gem that changed Percy to Mollymauk and back.[25]
- In the "Guest Battle Royale" (Sx64), imps helped with the production of the televised battle. One was named Lestat.[26]
- In the "Dignity: An Adventure with Stephen Colbert" (Sx67), searching for cultist Madrak, Lucky Jack, Yasha, Beau, and Nott encountered Bozyn, the imp who guided the group directly to them.[27]
