Idrin Shadowstep is a young elf-orc chronurgist and a member of The Re-Slayer's Take. He is played by Jasper William Cartwright.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Idrin is a young man of elven and orcish descent, with pointed ears but no prominent tusks, dark hair, and skin the color of clay. He wears warm-colored flowing robes with a pattern showing fragments of the starry sky, and matching gold earrings in both ears; he also has painted black nails, and tattoos of the moon and the sun in the back of his left and right hand respectively, that glow when he uses magic.
Personality[]
He is loyal and shrewd,[6] clever, kind and generous, with strong ideals about helping and protecting other people, and enough curiosity and confidence to intervene in situations that catch his attention. He is also insecure about his identity, being terrified of losing himself if he fully remembers his past lives.
Biography[]
Background[]
Idrin was raised in Xhorhas by a mother and a father who shared stories and advice with him. He was born with the consecuted soul of a member of the Kryn Dynasty, and presumably during his adolescence he started having visions at night about those past lives (seeing a big ogre, a sword-wielding orcish woman, and a drow man of the Dynasty); although he was told by his father that was a sign of consecution, his mother said that those were just dreams, so the young uniya ended up repressing the memories of his past lives.[7] He eventually learned magic and manifested a talent for chronurgy. Idrin ended up leaving Xhorhas following his mother's advice, who might have also used magic so that his father couldn't find him.[8]
"The Carnivorous Cube" (RTx01)[]
Around 839 PD[9][10] Idrin received an invitation to try to join the Slayer's Take, and he went to the monthly Himblewood market, where other candidates gathered. He stopped at one of the stalls, showing curiosity about a huge swordfish with a green stripe, encouraging the fisherman who had caught it, an old captain, to narrate the fantastic feat. After listening to him, Idrin bought some fish, and as he was leaving the fisherman threw him a crab as a gift, which the wizard's hawk familiar caught on the fly. Shortly after the young man walked near a different store, where Heera Agneheart was trying to convince an elderly woman that if she allowed her to steal her gems for a while, she would show her the flaws in her security; Idrin approached, curious about the whole conversation, and offered one of the fish to Heera, who hungrily accepted, leaving with him after signing an five-year-long agreement with the jeweler. As they walked, the two of them discovered they were trying to join the same guild, and Heera, misinterpreting, Idrin's motives, assumed he was doing it because of need; he, however, decided not to correct her, since her mistake hadn't caused any harm. They stopped between two buildings for a bit, and the wizard used his own knife and the Create Bonfire cantrip to cook their fish, gaining Heera's admiration as they continued walking while eating. When they were writing their names down with the other candidates, Poogs asked Idrin why he was there, and he said he wanted to protect others; noticing the size of the goblin's dentures, the wizard asked to examine it, and tried breaking it and then Mending it in a way that would bit Poogs' mouth better, and although he almost ruined it, he used his Chronal Shift to correct his mistake, returning the fake set of teeth to its owner, who was very happy. Idrin introduced himself to Farah Vallari and Frog, and noticed the latter's armored body and glowing eyes.
During his presentation, Timpani Guff noticed several candidates that he called to the stage. Frog and Farah were called, and Idrin went next, with Heera following him shortly after. When Timpani accidentally released a gelatinous cube, the four candidates took care of it, with Idrin attacking it multiple times with fire spells, inspiring the others and giving Heera enough time to finish the ooze. The old captain in the market they saved gave them some fresh pieces of "Old Bertha", his big swordfish, and encouraged by Idrin, shared with the other three the story of how he caught it. Timpani, who had been hiding until then, told them they had been accepted as members of the Slayer's Take, and asked them to meet him at dusk for their first job. At the end of the day, the group met the firbolg and Poogs in the forest, and Timpani decided to share with them a ghost story that was popular in the guild. This ended when strange sounds were heard in the forest, followed by a violet light and an avalanche, that caused Idrin and the rest to start running.
"The Bog House" (RTx02)[]
Idrin ran as fast as she could, and in order to avoid obstacles he sent his hawk to fly above him, and used its senses to watch the entire path better. Eventually they all got to safety, and when four snowmen controlled by undead vines approached, they hid following the wizard's advice; however, when Timpani mentioned they could attack the monsters' shiny backs, Idrin, encouraged, cast Fire Bolt against one of them. A battle ensued, and although the adventurers got hurt, when Farah mentioned they needed magic to actually hurt the snowmen Idrin helped her by casting Magic Weapon on her blade, making it easier to defeat them. After roots dragged Poogs away and the rest of them went to rescue him, Frog praised her friends, who had fought very efficiently, displaying affinity with fire, and apologized for not being more useful; Idrin, however, argued that she had done well by avoiding hits. When they found a shining dome of green energy Frog approached, and when she touched it, she felt powerful energy activating; she was saved by Idrin's Chronal Shift, which caused a less harmful outcome, with the monk being pushed a few feet away by the magical wave.
While they were there Timpani confessed to them that he wasn't an actual member of the Slayer's Take, but a failed recruit doing his own research and trying to prove to the guild that something strange with Putridius Festerkin and long defeated monsters was going on. Idrin agreed to stay and help him, and since he had been casting Unseen Servant during that conversation, he tried and failed to send it through the dome with a knife. Timpani got frustrated, claiming he had already tried that spell without success; this led the wizard to suggest that maybe the druid wasn't very good at magic, and called him ridiculous. Frog told Idrin he was being judgmental, although he defended himself by saying he was just trying to help access the dome, since Poogs could be inside.
Shortly after Timpani, suddenly inspired guided the four of them (including a sceptical Idrin) away from the dome; Idrin asked Frog if she could take him on a piggyback ride, and she agreed; when he got on, the Xhorhasian noticed that her friend's body was strangely cold and hard, but since they had things to do he didn't ask about it, commenting simply that he liked feeling tall. They arrived to a willow tree that transported them to a strange bog (seeing Timpani opening the portal made Idrin admit the firbolg was very capable, but also strange); when they approached the dark entrance, Frog commented Idrin would have to guide her, so the wizard cast Light on her hands to help her see. They found a hut that needed a door knocker to be opened, they managed to locate the broken pieces of the item, and when Frog confirmed she had some experience with reparations, Idrin asked her to assist him, keeping the pieces of the door knocker together as he cast Mending, being praised by the monk immediately after. When the door was finally opened they were greeted by Gurt Stumpstuck, a dwarf and friend of Timpani who identified the four younger adventurers as the "chosen" ones of a prophecy, and offered them some legendary weapons to face undead threats: Idrin made some comments about which items seemed more fitting for each of his companions, and then Gurt hurried him to take a necklace with painted wooden beads that, according to the dwarf, would make ghosts less scary. After all that the group returned to the green dome, and with their new gear, they were able to pass through; before doing so Idrin folded his eyes and used his hawk's senses to see instead.
"The Frozen Puppet" (RTx03)[]
Idrin and his friends appeared in the middle of a blizzard in a tundra, and they looked for Poogs; on their way there Frog accidentally revealed herself as an aeormaton, but her friends accepted her as she was, and Idrin (who was relieved that his friend wasn't a weird person always covered in actual armor) asked only if she was ok taking him on a piggyback ride again (she was). Eventually they found Poogs inside a cavern that they recognized as the old lair of Rimefang, a dragon defeated by Vox Machina and the Slayer's Take, and although Timpani seemed to be very confident about the whole situation, Idrin was still concerned, not sure of what to think of the druid; there, they had to fight the dragon's skeleton, puppeteered by marionette vines. Idrin Enlarged Frog, making her twice as tall, and used the power of his new necklace to destroy one of the vines with Scorching Ray; his new magic item also protected him when the draconic puppet frightened most of the group. In order to help his friends, the wizard cast Mage Armor and then started scream to attract the enemy's attention, being attacked immediately after; although Idrin managed to block part of the attacks with Shield, he got hit once, almost falling unconscious (although Timpani helped by casting Mass Cure Wounds, preventing him from passing out when the next wave of attacks arrived). With Magic Missile, Idrin hit the puppet more times, separating Rimefang's skull from the rest of the skeleton and then destroying one more vine. When Heera destroyed the last one, the group followed a green glow and climbed towards it (Frog lifted Idrin), finding a strange bulb that the tiefling killed, stopping the strange aura filling the cavern. While they were there Idrin noticed that inside the ice there were some skeletons holding a box, which he accessed casting Shape Water: inside there were ten earring-like devices (with designs similar to that of Frog's metallic body), and when him and Timpani tried them, the firbolg's loud voice helped them discover that they were communication devices.
An hour later the group had a meeting with two members of the Slayer's Take, and Timpani, who had brought Rimefang's skull with them, tried to convince them of the strange phenomena in the area. Idrin and the rest supported him, showing their injuries as proof of the battle they had won against the marionette ghosts, but the members of the guild didn't believe the story, and didn't got a good impression of the four new adventurers either. When the agents of the Slayer's Take were leaving, however, Idrin noticed that one was whispering to the other that they shouldn't tell Osysa anything about that meeting. Both Poogs and Idrin told Timpani that part of the reason why people didn't trust him was that he had been lying during his activities, and the druid promised to be more honest in the future. When Timpani stated his desire of unveiling the truth and helping people, Poogs immediately went with him, being followed shortly after by the other adventurers, with Idrin perched on Frog's back. The following day they settled into an apartment on the outskirts of Vasselheim, and took "the Re-Slayer's Take" as their new group name.
"The Voiceless Village" (RTx04)[]
When the group was talking about their potential first mission, which involved dealing with combined spirits that had kidnapped people, Idrin was curious about whether those spirits were actually reborn, but Farah clarified there was no body involved at all. They started preparing, and Idrin took some holy water; when Poogs arrived shortly after with cupcakes, the wizard tried one, and did his best to try his disgust, since they were extremely salty (since the goblin had baked them using his literal sweat). Idrin then asked his friend to go fetch some water for the mission, and while he was away, he told the rest of the group that they should use the cupcakes as weapons to fight the ghosts; when Poogs returned with the bottles, just before they left Vasselheim, Idrin immediately drank his own, as well as Frog's (with her permission).
With Timpani's Transport via Plants they appeared in the intended swamp, but in quicksand. Idrin was irritated at first, but when they started looking for ways out and noticed thar Farah was stuck, he helped her by casting Vortex Warp and make her appear on solid ground; shortly after a dire frog appear, but the elf-orc threw a cupcake at it, distracting it long enough to leave with Timpani. After walking for a bit they reached Josgren's Hollow, the village the missing people were traveling to before being abducted: the place, however, was very deteriorated and mostly silent. Idrin and Heera inspected the local processing plant, and he found two bottles with potions that had gone bad, and he kept them. Shortly after, Igor, the wereboar from the Slayer's Take appeared and started shouting at them, but that attracted the attention of the local whispers, which after making him disappear attacked Idrin and his friends.
"The Whispers" (RTx05)[]
During the fight Idrin gave Frog his holy water and she threw it at the spirits, as the wizard cast Enlarge on it to cause massive damage. The whispers seemed to be difficult to hit, and Idrin resorted to magic to attack them, casting Burning Hands; however, when Frog revealed to her friends that they were sensitive to sound, Idrin used the Thunderwave spell instead. The ghosts, which had failed to poison the wizard, tried to overwhelm him with whispers, but he used his Chronal Shift to resist; when he was attacked again, Heera came to defend him. Eventually, Idrin defeated the last of the whispers with a Thunderwave so powerful he destroyed the wooden planks on the floor as well.
After the battle they had a brief meeting with a local politician, Vaughn Josgren Jr, who told them to rescue someone from the local prison who seemed to be aware of the whispers. Heera sneaked in the prison while the guards were distracted and when she found the prisoner she shot an arrow outside to alert her friends. Idrin and Frog noticed and approached, and although a guard saw them, the wizard used Fire Bolt to distract them again, winning enough time to help Janet the goliath and Heera herself.
"The Hungry Cloud" (RTx06)[]
After Idrin returned with the rest of the group he noticed Janet's tattoos and he praised them, after which he warned the goliath about Poogs' salty cupcakes. They stopped in Janet's caravan for a bit to take some instruments to use against the whispers, and as they were trying them, Frog accidentally broke the strings of a guitar, so Idrin (who had taken a trombone himself) used his Chronal Shift to fix it, allowing her to do a decent first performance; when Timpani broke the strings of his own instrument (a bass), the wizard, frustrated, cast Mending to repair them too. On their way to the whispers' lair Idrin had a brief talk with Poogs, explaining to him that it was possible for a person to have more than one best friend, so the goblin wouldn't feel jealous of Janet for being Timpani's friend; as they were talking through the marsh Idrin also took a moment to talk with Janet about the whispers' weaknesses. When they finally reached the lair, Idrin used Fire Bolt to help destroy the mushrooms that produced the spores forming the whispers' bodies, and then cast Faerie Fire against their leader, the whispering mouther. He then kept attacking the ghosts with his magic, and although he received some hits, Timpani helped him with his Mass Cure Wounds. Shortly after, and inspired by Janet's musical style, Idrin cast a very "metal" Lightning Bolt, putting an end to the battle by destroying the whispering mouther. After that he immediately went with Frog, who had been very scared because of the influence of the ghosts, and reassured her.
Later, when they were celebrating back in Josgren's Hollow, Frog went with him again and held his hand, thanking him for his help, and the wizard responded by explaining that was what friends do. Shortly after they left the village they received a message via seagull about a new job, and they started making their way back to Vasselheim, while arguing with Timpani about going to proper shops for preparation, instead of his messy apartment.
"The Monster in the Mirror" (RTx07)[]
On their next mission the Re-Slayers went to Shoresight Isle with Timpani's Transport via Plants spell, but appeared on the edge of a cliff and fell; luckily, they were able to catch themselves in time and climb back up. They went to the lighthouse and met Duderonomous, Timpani's old friend who had sent them a message asking for help; after that they went to the local tavern, where they were soon attacked by the villagers, controlled by some sort of invisible ghost tentacles that Idrin and some of his friends noticed through the reflections.
To avoid lethal damage Idrin tried to Sleep some of the costumers, but seeing that they were immune to that kind of magic he focused on freeing Poogs, whom one of the villagers had grabbed. After some struggle Duddy managed to cast Light on Idrin's fists, and gave him details of one of the villagers' life (specifically the name of his daughter, Persephone) so the young wizard could use all of it to make the man regain control of himself. After that worked Idrin, encouraged by Timpani's Guidance, repeated that strategy, complimenting a woman's fashion sense to remind her of her real life too, freeing her of the mental control too. When they were done with the now unconscious villagers they had to save Frog from being sucked inside a puddle of ale in the floor, and as they were doing so Idrin sent his hawk towards it to attack whatever was inside, causing it to hit the floor, since it couldn't move through the reflection (the wizard apologized to his familiar for that when they left). They returned to the lighthouse, and suddenly Duderonomous called the building his house, with a voice that wasn't his own, and with three glowing red eyes.
"The Lost Light" (RTx08)[]
Duderonomous, under the control of the entity (the ghost of an aboleth), manipulated the Magnificent Mansion spell affecting the lighthouse to send the adventurers to different spaces; Idrin and Frog tried to stay together, but they ended up separated. The wizard appeared in a place he recognized as the Barren Valley in Xhorhas, and he started seeing different people: first a big ogre telling him he couldn't keep them at bay forever, then an orcish woman reminding him that they were him, and finally a drow of the Kryn Dynasty warning him that soon he would remember who he really was and what were his pending issues; Idrin tried to convince himself that those were inly dreams, but he started receiving psychic damage, and the dark elf asked him if he would allow the light of the Luxon to be extinguished, to which he responded by saying he didn't want to fail. The voice of the aboleth whispered to him, telling him that it could offer him guidance and protection from his past lives, but Idrin instead focused on the moons of Exandria, until he noticed the three eyes of the entity and used them to leave that illusion, repeating to himself several times that he was ok.
When he reappeared in the same room as the rest of his friends, he was very nervous, and when Poogs asked if they were ok, the uniya told him that he wasn't. After a short pause they prepared to go after Duderonomous, and when Frog checked on Idrin, he quickly cast Disguise Self to look like he was smiling, before following her upstairs. There they found the weakened mage, near the darkened crystal of the lighthouse, surrounded by windows from where the reflections of the ghost laughed at them all, sending a wave of psychic energy that Idrin helped Farah resist with his Chronal Shift. After that, following Duderonomous's instructions, the wizard cast Light on the crystal, and the spell was amplified in such a way that turned the lighthouse on again, and revealed the spectral form of the aboleth, allowing Farah to shoot at it, scaring it away.
"The Dark Well" (RTx09)[]
Before they followed the aboleth they spoke with Duderonomous for a bit, and he revealed to Poogs that he was the wizard that had made his fake teeth; the goblin was surprised and grateful, and told him that Idrin had helped him as well by adapting the size of the teeth to better fit his mouth, so the elven mage congratulated Idrin the young spellcaster. He was still sad, and when Timpani, who was healing the team, checked on him, Idrin told him he was alright, even though he wasn't. Eventually, he and his friends agreed on a plan to face the aboleth and bait it with its bones, and potentially save Thyme the pig (who wasn't a familiar, but an awakened pig companion). As they were going inside the well Idrin cast Dancing Lights to help Frog see, and his smiling Disguise flickered a bit, although she didn't notice. They found a cave with a portal, and a pool where the missing pig was floating; after Heera rescued her, Farah, using the aboleth's skull, made it appear in its ghostly form, and attacked it with her shortsword. The monster chased Frog (the one carrying the bag with the bones) as she was leaving the well, and Idrin, who was with her, warned Duderonomous in the lighthouse by summoning Dancing Lights. When the aboleth came out to the surface it produced a wave psychic energy meant to scare them, but Idrin's beads protected him, and he cast a powerful Scorching Ray, followed shortly after by a Fireball he combined with his Chronal Shift to make sure the enemy was hit. The ghost focused on the Xhorhasian wizard, and Duderonomous and Frog tried to distract it (the former with an amplified Minor Illusion, the latter with some bones) without much success. The aboleth knocked Idrin unconscious, but shortly after it was destroyed by Heera. She immediately Misty Stepped in Idrin's direction, waking him up with dried fish, and praising his bravery when he asked.
They went to the sea cave to close the portal the ghost had been using, and as Timpani was doing so (worrying Idrin, who didn't believe the druid was careful enough), a spectral black finger attacked him, leaving him confused and unfocused, talking nonesense. After Idrin determined that was likely a magical disease they tried to bring the firbolg to Duderonomous, but he used his Hidden Step to walk away, still confused, running towards a tree and casting Transport via Plants. His friends ran after him and crossed the portal in time, appearing in the Utesspire Mountains. Recognizing the area, Poogs agreed to bring Timpani to his old home to help him.
"The Curse of Strife (episode)" (RTx10)[]
Poogs guided his friends through the mountains, and while he was doing so he talked to Heera about his past with the Curse of Strife, as well as his first encounter with Timpani; she admitted she wanted to help the firbolg even though her first impression of him wasn't good, and when she learned that both her and Poogs tried to steal from him the first time they met, she retorically asked who hadn't thought of it (causing both Idrin and Frog to raise their hands). When they arrived to a tunnel Idrin cast Light on a rock to help with the visibility. Since he had commented that his father had experience with something similar to the Curse of Strife, Heera also talked to him, asking him if he would inherit the curse, and offering to deal with him if he went insane; the wizard then clarified that his father had experience dealing with people affected by the curse of ruin (but he didn't have it), and shared with her some information about his family and culture in Xhorhas, including his concerns about his pasts lives (although the concept of consecution was confusing for the tiefling). When they reached doors with two handles, they learned, after investigating for a bit, that they needed to use them at the same time to open the way, so Idrin sent his Unseen Servant and Heera via Vortex Warp to do so.
When they finally arrived to the goblin settlement, Hug Hive, they found it very welcoming, and were greeted by Freedom Windsong, the medic Poogs had told them about; since he seemed to be a hugger, Idrin hugged him, causing a good impression. They asked him for help, and the doctor agreed to examine Timpani, revealing the firbolg suffered from mindfire, an effect of the Contagion spell (confirming Idrin's theory about the magical sickness), and left him with his assistants, assuring the group that with a few hours and the proper ritual, Timpani would be healed. Freedom guided them through a tunnel, showing them a pillar with a goblin hand holding a cupcake, and telling them how Poogs indirectly helped free his community from the Curse of Strife by sharing one of his cupcakes. Then the doctor recommended the adventurers to meditate there for a bit, and after checking with his goblin friend Idrin left a smashed cupcake offering before sitting, receiving a magical boon. Later, after Poogs told them that the Slayer's Take had defeated a mind flayer there once, they started investigating, learning that the remains of the aberration (that used to decorate the entrance) had been gone for only a week. Then the entire group suffered a psychic attack and heard a telepathic threat, falling to their knees.
"The Rotten Soldiers" (RTx11)[]
Scouts informed the people of Hug Hive that an army of undead was approaching, and the adventurers and some of the local goblins (who had also been affected by the psychic attack) took a moment to rest and drink some healing kombucha. After that, the Re-Slayers decided to organize the defense of the settlement, and Idrin gathered a team of five local mages making plans and staying with them as the skeletons started approaching. When the moment arrived and the enemy got stuck by traps, Idrin and the other wizards cast Magic Missile, breaking multiple stalactites that fell on top of the undead. After that, the Xhorhasian wizard sent his hawk to observe the battlefield, and he cast Fly to follow behind. From above, he was able to notice new monsters approaching, and when he saw that one of the bigger ones, a rotting tree, was weak enough, he cast Scorching Ray, destroying it and hitting a moss monster too, although the latter wasn't too hurt by the heat. When a mushroom monster started approaching the area where Freedom was healing Timpani, Idrin used his instrument to stop the enemy with sound.
By then the missing illithid skeleton had appeared, sending a wave of frightful psychic energy, but Idrin was protected by his beads, and when he saw that Frog was scared, he flew down to end that effect on her. When the mind flayer attacked again, hurting both Frog and Heera, the angered wizard cast a black Fireball against it; Farah defeated it with her bolts, leaving only the Timberblight, who left the battlefield. Shortly after Timpani, completely healed, returned to the party.
"The Timberblight of Dead Man's Table" (RTx12)[]
After saying goodbye to Freedom and his people, Idrin and his friends used miniature horses to return to the tree that had brought them to the Utesspire Mountains, and as they were doing so the wizard spoke with Frog for a bit, telling her how glad he was that she was ok after the fight. Later, as Timpani was thanking them for their help, Idrin told him that despite the many dangers they had faced, those had been the best days of his life. With Travel via Plants they returned the Vesper Timberland, arriving through a tree near Dead Man's Table; when they reached the top Putridius was already waiting for them, and as part of the preparations Idrin used his beads to give magical wards to all his friends. A battle ensued, and Timpani cast Barkskin on Idrin, who thanked him before using his new wand to cast Confusion, which the Timberblight resisted; then the dark druid hit him back with a psychic blast that the wizard resisted too. Idrin repositioned himself so that he was away from Putridius and his Aura of Poison, but close to Frog and Poogs in case they needed help, and then used his wand again, successfully Confusing the enemy; the Timberblight tried to Mind Sliver Idrin twice, but he resisted both times. After a few seconds Putridius got rid of the Confusion, but before he could do anything Idrin hit him with Burning Hands, and shortly after that Frog defeated him as she was taking the unconscious Poogs away from him.
Timpani healed the group with Mass Cure Wounds. After a brief celebration Poogs suggested to go back to Himblewood to rest, and as they were making their way to the town, they were stopped by people of the Slayer's Take led by Heldwell, very ready to kill them. However, one of them, Sweeny (a gnome), saved them by teleporting them to a bakery where Kashaw Vesh told the group Osysa wanted to speak with them.
"The Cat's Cathedral" (RT2x01)[]
Kash guided them to the lair of Osysa, who immediately started judging them and analyzing their behavior. Stuttering, Idrin tried to say that they had gotten off on the wrong foot, but the sphinx declared that she intended to test them to see if they were worthy of the attention of the Slayer's Take. Osysa isolated each member of the group with darkness and illusions, and told Idrin that, unlike the rest of his friends, he was trying to avoid being found, and losing time as doom approached his people; she told him that his parents had been lying to him, and although he refused to believe it, especially in his mother's case, the sphinx assured him that the magic the woman wielded might have been affecting her son's mind. After wondering if the wizard was going to abandon his people or his friends, Osysa released him, somewhat apart from the rest of the group; a portal to Xhorhas opened and the sphinx urged him to choose, so Idrin, very affected, threw his magical beads to Poogs, apologized, and although his friends (with the exception of Farah) started moving towards him, the wizard crossed the portal.
Relationships[]
His parents[]
Idrin remembers both his parents fondly, thinking of his mother's colorful tales about her lifting a boulder with her mind once, and following his father's advice about avoiding arguments if the reason for them didn't cause actual harm. He refused to believe that any of them could have been lying to him.
Heera Agneheart[]
Idrin seemed to like Heera's company, even when he found some of her attitudes strange. Although they had different ideals regarding money and fighting monsters, he prioritized being friendly with her instead of arguing. Idrin sees Heera as a very brave person and tries to be like her. He also trust her enough to talk to her about his family and his past lives, something that tortures him deeply.

Quotation[]
- Idrin: (destroying a ghost sensitive to loud sounds) Rock and roll! Now, that was metal.[21]
- (reaffirming his identity in battle after a traumatic experience with his past lives) "I am Idrin!"[22]
Trivia[]
- His name could derive from Idren, the Rastafarian term for "brethren".
- Since he comes from the "Xhorhas Empire" it is very likely that he is associated with the Kryn Dynasty, where dunamancy is most common. Jasper, his player, confirmed it.[23]
- When Farah was talking about spirits coming back and combining Idrin showed interest and asked if they were reborn somehow, confirming he is aware of what consecution is,[24] even if he refuses to face the reality of his own.
- Based on the order of his visions and their appearances, it seems that in Idrin's most recent life previous to this one he was an ogre, that before that he was an orc, and that the oldest of his lifes was that of a dark elf of the Kryn Dynasty.[25]
- Since he is able to cast Faerie Fire it is very likely that one of his parents is of drow blood. Dark elves are very common in the Kryn Dynasty.
- When Farah was talking about spirits coming back and combining Idrin showed interest and asked if they were reborn somehow, confirming he is aware of what consecution is,[24] even if he refuses to face the reality of his own.
- There is not much known about the identity of Idrin's parents, but since his father is a Shadowhand working with people affected by the curse of ruin (that he himself doesn't suffer) and recognizes consecuted souls he might be a man of orcish blood of the Dynasty. Since his mother is a mage is skeptical about both the curse of ruin and the motivations behind consecution, she might be a woman of dark elven blood not affiliated with the faith of the Luxon.
- Because of their disagreements regarding the aforementioned subjects, Idrin's parents have had strong arguments.[26]
- He considers himself lucky.
