Hevestro is an Issylran archdruid. As an NPC, Hevestro is played by Matthew Mercer.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Hevestro appears to be a middle-aged elf, probably a few hundred years old. He has matted black hair, vibrant lavender eyes surrounded by smile wrinkles, and heavily tattooed, tanned skin. When encountered by Bells Hells, he was wearing painted leather vestments over a thick cloth robe, and metal bracelets.[2]
Personality[]
Hevestro is an affable and grateful man, willing to share his resources with those who deserve them. He is also solemn even when he is pain, not shedding a single tear despite the sadness caused by the deaths of his fellow druids.[3]
History[]
Hevestro is a Fire Ashari from Pyrah who was tasked at some point in or before the last century with keeping watch over the Shrine of the Emerald Tree and the Tomb of Oma-Dua in the Irriam Canyon.[4] Presumably around that time he also taught magic to some students, including Joan Abaddina, a half-giant from the village of Hearthdell, south of the canyon.[5]
In 843 PD, after helping the townsfolk of Hearthdell drive out the followers of the Dawnfather that had come from Vasselheim, Bells Hells sought advice from Elder Abaddina on how to return to their respective homes, and she revealed to them that Hevestro's magic could help them; so, guided by a Demithore Eidolon, the adventurers set out for the Irriam Canyon.[6]
However, when the adventurers reached the canyon and entered the Shrine of the Emerald Tree they discovered that Hevestro had been captured by Evithorir the Taker, a fey thief of magical energy that had been freed from their imprisonment thanks to the magic of the apogee solstice, and had traveled to the Irriam Canyon to take control over the last home of their old enemy, Oma-Dua.[7] Bells Hells managed to separate Hevestro from the shadows that formed Evithorir's body, and although he was slightly harmed during the battle, he was healed. When the Taker was killed, the archdruid thanked his saviors and promised to send them home with his Transport via Plants spell the following day, since he needed to rest (Evithorir had been draining his energy) and to bury the remains of Ennorai, Oldaan and Keese, the followers that the Taker had killed when attacking the Verdant Tomb; he also talked to Ashton Greymoore for a bit when they asked about the Hishari, and answered as well as he could Prism's questions about the githzerai. When he returned from his funerary duties Hevestro discovered that the group had killed one of their members, and he offered them some comfort, without judging.[8]
The following day the archdruid, with some help from Prism's Scrying spell, sent the adventurers to the places of their choice: Deni$e Bembachula was sent to Westruun,[9] and Prism, Ashton, Orym and Laudna were sent to Jrusar.[10]
