Heera Agneheart is a tiefling rogue/warlock and a member of The Re-Slayer's Take. She is played by Jasmine Bhullar.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Heera is a tiefling woman with yellowish ocher skin, a long tail, buffalo-like horns adorned with ribbons and peacock feathers, and wearing green and blue silks and a leather armor with henna designs. Although she has hooves,[5] she wears boots.
After Farah accidentally hit her with a rock a piece of one of her horns broke,[6] and although it was temporarily re-attached with sap and vines,[7] that same day Heera used it as a projectile in a battle, destroying it in the process.[8]
Personality[]
She is confident and cunning, clever and decisive, described as a "con-artist",[9] and pragmatic when it comes to achieving her goals. She is also grateful, appearing friendly to those who treat her well, but irritable to those who disappoint her. She seems to be good with kids,[10] befriending them rather quickly,[11] and she also loves animals, understanding them better than people.[12]
Biography[]
Background[]
Heera is from Marquet, being the descendant of mountain shepherds. She grew up being mostly raised by her sister Sona, since their mother was gone when she was young, and her father was too busy;[13] during her youth she was very fond of one particular calf, Saffron, whose horns looked just like the tiefling's. Eventually she left home, and while she was still young she lived in the Menagerie Coast, working in barns.[14] She has had a hard life recently, and has gone hungry.
"The Carnivorous Cube" (RTx01)[]
Around 839 PD[15][16] Heera received an invitation to try to join the Slayer's Take, and she went to the monthly Himblewood market, where other candidates gathered. Since it had been days since the last time she ate, she tried to convince an elderly woman that if she allowed her to steal her gems for a while, she would show her the flaws in her security; the jeweler was somewhat confused by the offer, and so was Idrin Shadowstep when he approached, curious about the whole conversation. However, when the orc-elf offered Heera a fish, she hungrily accepted it, and left with him after signing an five-year-long agreement with the old woman, who had been convinced after the rogue showed her some of her own jewels making her believe she had stolen them while they were speaking, unnoticed. As they walked, Heera and Idrin discovered they were trying to join the same guild, and she expressed she was doing it for money, making some misled assumptions about Idrin's own motives, that he didn't bother to correct. They stopped between two buildings for a bit, and the wizard used his own knife and the Create Bonfire cantrip to cook their fish, gaining Heera's admiration and compliments as they continued walking while eating. When they were in the area where the other candidates were gathering, Heera decided to take out some competition, and after analyzing a girl's outfit, she deduced she came from a grocery store nearby and told her they were looking for her because the count was off there. Laterm when they were writing their names down, Poogs asked Heera why she was there, and she said she was hungry and wanted to earn money.
During his presentation, Timpani Guff noticed several candidates that he called to the stage. Frog, Farah Vallari and Idrin went first, and when the firbolg was about to call another person, Heera tripped them so that she could go instead. When Timpani accidentally released a gelatinous cube, the four candidates took care of it, and Heera, after failed to convince the firbolg to intervene, attacked with her rapier several times, eventually slicing the ooze in half before it reached the market. Timpani, who had been hiding until then, told them they had been accepted as members of the Slayer's Take, and asked them to meet him at dusk for their first job; during that conversation the tiefling, who was angry at him, stole his coin purse without him noticing. At the end of the day, the group met the firbolg and Poogs in the forest, and Timpani decided to share with them a ghost story that was popular in the guild. This ended when strange sounds were heard in the forest, followed by a violet light and an avalanche, that caused Heera and the rest to start running.
"The Bog House" (RTx02)[]
Heera ran as fast as she could, and she actually managed to avoid the snow without needing to get out of the way. Poogs, however, fell behind and ended up buried in the snow, but since one of his hands was still protruding, the tiefling was able to locate him, fire a crossbow bolt tied to a rope, and bring him to the surface with Frog's help (discovering that they had stuck the projectile in the goblin's ass by accident). When four snowmen controlled by undead vines approached, they hid; however, when Timpani mentioned they could attack the monsters' shiny backs, Idrin, encouraged, cast Fire Bolt against one of them. A battle ensued, and Heera, following Timpani's advice, hit one of the monsters in the back; when she herself got hit, she immediately cast Hellish Rebuke, completely destroying that snowman, and ending another one with her daggers. When they thought the problems were over, roots dragged Poogs away and the rest of them went to rescue him, with Heera commenting outloud the goblin seemed to be an unlucky individual in general. Eventually they found a shining dome of green energy. While they were there Timpani confessed to them that he wasn't an actual member of the Slayer's Take, but a failed recruit doing his own research and trying to prove to the guild that something strange with Putridius Festerkin and long defeated monsters was going on; to prove it he showed his notes to Heera. The rogue returned the field guide to him and agreed to stay and help him, impressed by his resourcefulness, and admitting she had underestimated him.
Shortly after Timpani, suddenly inspired, started guiding the four of them away from the green dome, and when Idrin expressed some concern about the firbolg's attitude, Heera said she trusted his determination. They arrived to a willow tree that transported them to a strange bog. There, they found a hut where they were greeted by Gurt Stumpstuck, a dwarf and friend of Timpani who identified the four younger adventurers as the "chosen" ones of a prophecy, and offered them some legendary weapons to face undead threats: Heera, following Idrin's advice, took a rapier that was bladeless until the missing piece formed with glowing energy as she tried one of her flourishes; according to Gurt, would help her poofing ghosts. After all that the group returned to the green dome, and although Heera was annoyed because her boots were dirty, the trip to the swamp proved to be worth it, since with their new gear, they were able to pass through the barrier.
"The Frozen Puppet" (RTx03)[]
Heera and her friends appeared in the middle of a blizzard in a tundra, and they looked for Poogs. Since the tiefling was extremely cold, Frog lent her her poncho without giving it much thought, and in the same way, Heera hugged the monk instinctively; a few moments later both realized the accidental revelation: Frog was an aeormaton. Heera was thankful and accepting nonetheless, and praised her friend's kindness. The group followed a marionette vine to a cavern that they recognized as the old lair of Rimefang, a dragon defeated by Vox Machina and the Slayer's Take. Heera was very concerned about the possibility of the vines taking control of an entire dragon, and indeed, when they entered and found Poogs, they saw the remnants of an old battle (including the marks of a Hellish Rebuke like Heera's) how eight tendrils started puppeteering Rimefang's corpse to attack them. Heera destroyed two of the vines by herself while teleporting between stalagmites, and managed to weaken a third, despite being frightened and wounded by the skeleton. She kept fighting, and eventually destroyed the last tendril. Noticing there was still some green glow in the area, the tiefling and her friends climbed until they found a carnivorous-looking bulb, which she stabbed with her rapier, turning it into ash. After that, the group left the lair with some magical earrings Idrin found, and when they noticed some of the designs were similar to Frog's aesthetic, Heera showed interest, although the monk, excited as she was, didn't know much about their connection with her, or her own origins.
An hour later the group had a meeting with two members of the Slayer's Take, and Timpani, who had brought Rimefang's skull with them and had been encouraged by Heera, tried to convince them of the strange phenomena in the area. The others supported him, showing their injuries as proof of the battle they had won against the marionette ghosts, but the members of the guild didn't believe the story, and didn't got a good impression of the four new adventurers either; Heera in particular tried to show her rapier as proof, but the weapon was currently inactive (and thus bladeless), so it didn't help. Later, when Timpani stated his desire of unveiling the truth and helping people, Poogs immediately went with him, and although Farah briefly commented they wouldn't be paid with the druid, Heera argued that if they were lucky they would find another dragon lair with actual treasure inside, and the four adventurers followed shortly after. The following day they settled into an apartment on the outskirts of Vasselheim, and took "the Re-Slayer's Take" as their new group name.
"The Voiceless Village" (RTx04)[]
When the group was talking about their potential first mission, which involved dealing with a strange fog that had kidnapped people, Heera was curious about the phenomenon, and Farah explained those were amalgamations of ghosts known as whispers. Timpani offered them to take whatever they needed from the apartment as part of the preparations, and after replentishing her own inventory Heera took her time organizing the food cans the firbolg had kept, based on the quality of conservation of the content, to try to inspire him to throw away what had already expired; however, when Timpani noticed it and simply commented that she had found his good chair, the tiefling was somewhat discouraged. When Poogs brought them cupcakes, saying that he had baked them himself using a local baker's oven, Heera was able to determine that the goblin didn't actually have permission to do that, but she just asked him not to get caught if he intended to do that again. When Idrin confirmed (without Poogs knowing) that the cupcakes were too salty, Heera decided not to eat hers, and todl the fighter that she was just visually enjoying the food at the moment. Before leaving Vasselheim Heera and Farah stayed behind for a moment, and after exchanging an understanding glances, the rogue took some cotton to put it in her ears and gave the rest to the blood hunter, since the monster they were facing used sound as a tool.
With Timpani's Transport via Plants they appeared in the intended swamp, but in quicksand. When they realized Poogs wasn't visible, Heera immediately started looking for him, noticing that he, as the shortest of the group, had already sank below surface (so Timpani and Frog had to help him). Using a rope and Farah's advice, Heera was able to reach solid ground, and her friends joined her with some effort. Later, while they were traveling through the swamp, Farah prevented her from falling inside a pond, although the tiefling admitted that at that point her pants were already ruined either way. Eventually they reached Josgren's Hollow, the village the missing people were traveling to before being abducted: the place, however, was very deteriorated and mostly silent. Heera and Idrin visited the local processing plant, and Heera noticed a girl looking at them from a window, so she approached and started making faces until the child laughed; her father told the rogue to leave, warning her about the whispers, but she wrote in a paper that she and her friends were there to help, gaining his trust. Shortly after, Igor, the wereboar from the Slayer's Take appeared and started shouting at them; Heera used her Thaumaturgy to shush him very loudly, but soon the local whispers appeared, made Igor disappear and attacked the rogue and her friends.
"The Whispers" (RTx05)[]
When the battle started the whispers attacked Heera, who managed to avoid part of the damage and retaliate with Hellish Rebuke; she then attacked with her rapier, discovering that the fog was resistant to physical damage, even if it came from magical weapons. However, when Frog used Extract Aspects and revealed that those entities were vulnerable to thunder damage, Heera (after avoiding another full hit of a Withering Touch), cast Thaumaturgy, producing a thunderous sound that stressed the spirits and made them more solid. They kept fighting, and the tiefling helped Idrin when he was attacked, until eventually they defeated the rest of the whispers. After all that Heera decided to check on Delphine, the local child she had been entertaining minutes before, since she considered her a friend already, and Farah accompanied her. They were invited in by the girl's father, who told them that the ghosts had been attacking for a week, and that his family was considering moving out because local politicians like Vaughn Josgren Jr weren't helping; while they were there Heera taught Delphine how to play with string to create form and patterns, and her father gave them some jerky and two vials of Philter of Freedom of Movement.
When the two adventurers returned to the rest of the group the learned that the others had been talking to Vaughn, who told them that there was someone in the local prison that could help them with the whispers; Heera was irritated about the politician and wondered if they could steal from him to help the villagers, but Timpani told her that even if they did something like that they needed to solve the ghost problem first. In order to break that person out, Farah and Timpani created a distraction by starting a fight in front of the guards. Meanwhile, Heera sneaked it quite easily, since the first door was unlocked and she distracted the guards inside with Thaumaturgy; after forcing a lock she entered a room where the Janet the goliath was chained; he was initially perplexed, since he was expecting a guard bringing some balm for his most recent tattoo on the back of his neck. His behavior made Heera uneasy at first, but after some conversation, she decided to trust him and gave him a vial to help him get free of his shackles, explaining that he deserved to be free, although mentioning she would be thankful if he repaid the favor by helping her and her friends; the goliath mentioned that he was a lone wolf, and that made Heera cackle, even though she was trying to be stealthy. Once Janet was free, he and Heera bumped fists as a formal greeting, and she shot an arrow outside, alerting Idrin and Frog to come help. They created an opening for them to leave the prison, and Janet, embarrassed, asked his tiefling savior to lift him a bit, since he wasn't very strong; she did so, and promised not to tell anyone. When Janet met the rest of the Re-Slayer's, it was revealed that he and Timpani were old friends, and the firbolg asked if he could guide them to his caravan.
"The Hungry Cloud" (RTx06)[]
The group stopped in Janet's caravan for a bit to take some instruments to use against the whispers, and Heera revealed to the bard that she had an instrument of her own: a ram-like horn adorned with gold, that her ancestors used to call down their herds from the mountains; at first it didn't sound too good, but after Janet checked it, he made sure the tiefling could actually play it, if needed. On their way to the whispers' lair Heera stayed with Farah and told her that age didn't mean anything if someone was doing a good job (referring to Timpani's comments earlier), and although the blood hunter appreciated the sentiment, she also admitted she hadn't performed optimally in the last couple of battles; to cheer her up, the rogue tried to do a fistbump like Janet, but Farah, confused, shook her hand instead. They reached the lair, and after plugging her ears with cotton and climbing near a ruined boat to check on the people kidnapped by the ghosts, Heera helped destroy the mushrooms that produced the spores forming the whispers' bodies; shortly after she attacked the main enemy, the whispering mouther, and teleported on top of Frog, who was swimming, reducing some of the damage when the ghost attacked her next. She then teleported to the boat and used her last Philter of Freedom of Movement to free Igor, the member of the Slayer's Take, although that made him fall, being knocked unconscious immediately. After that she kept attacking the whispers and used Misty Step again to appear next to Janet and defend him from the undead, being both healed by Timpani's Mass Cure Wounds. Shortly after the tiefling attacked the whispering mouther and revealed its tangible core, Idrin put an end to the battle by destroying the whispering mouther with a Lightning Bolt. Heera then praised Janet and informed the group that Igor had been hit during the fight, asking them not to tell him that she let him fall.
When they returned to Josgren's Hollow Delphine saw them and asked if they had done it; in response, Heera blew her horn in celebration. The neighbors were very happy and clapped, but when Vaughn appeared trying to claim credit for the adventurers' success, Heera gave an improvised speech about the need of choosing better leaders; listening to the rogue, Delphine's father kicked Josgren, and then asked Janet for forgiveness, welcoming him into the community. After a farewell party the Re-Slayer's Take left the village with Igor (who wasn't angry about the fall), and they received a message via seagull about a new job, so they started making their way back to Vasselheim, while arguing with Timpani about going to proper shops for preparation, instead of his messy apartment.
"The Monster in the Mirror" (RTx07)[]
On their next mission the Re-Slayers went to Shoresight Isle with Timpani's Transport via Plants spell, but appeared on the edge of a cliff and fell; luckily, they were able to catch themselves in time and climb back up, in Heera's case using a crowbar to help going up. As they were walking towards the lighthouse they saw a strangely cheery villager, despite the bad weather, which made both Farah and Heera uncomfortable. They met Duderonomous, Timpani's old friend who had sent them a message asking for help; as they were talking to him, another villager walked by, making the exact same comment than the previous one, making Heera extremely nervous. They went to the local tavern, where people were acting weird too, making the rogue comment with Farah if a marionette might be involved, even though their weapons weren't reacting yet; there they were soon attacked by the villagers, controlled by some sort of invisible ghost tentacles.
After seeing Farah use the reflections to locate and strike the tentacles, Heera did the same before Misty Stepping to a beam in the ceiling. From there she saw that the bartender had a picture of his dog in the tavern, and she used it to talk to him and remind him of his life (amplifying her voice with Thaumaturgy), freeing him from the undead influence. She then kept attacking the tentacles, although at one point she decided to be direct and knocked the last controlled villager unconscious by hitting him very precisely with a ball bearing. After saving Frog from being sucked inside a puddle of ale in the floor, they returned to the lighthouse, and suddenly Duderonomous called the building his house, with a voice that wasn't his own, and with three glowing red eyes.
"The Lost Light" (RTx08)[]
Duderonomous, under the control of the entity (the ghost of an aboleth), manipulated the Magnificent Mansion spell affecting the lighthouse to send the adventurers to different spaces; Farah and Heera grabbed each other in time, so they were sent to the same place together. First they appeared in a dark cave that, and when they heard someone approaching, Heera hid, seeing how a younger version of her friend attacked her; the rogue encouraged Farah, and she eventually managed to defeat her younger self. Then the scene changed and they appeared in a destroyed village, where Delphine was crying. Although Farah warned her about it not being real, Heera acted by instinct and went to the child, who ran away from her; when she looked at her reflection, she saw a version of herself covered in chains and flames, whispering to her that it could turn her in something extraordinary that would make her family proud; to prove it, it blew her family horn, summoning fighting soldiers while the infernal reflection laughed. Heera felt some psychic attack, and she tried to respond with Hellish Rebuke, although she ended up hurting herself. Farah then reminded the tiefling to look for the three eyes of the aboleth, and when Heera saw them in her blowing horn, she crushed it with her hooves, getting rid of that illusion too.
When they reappeared in the same room as the rest of their friends, Farah explained to them that they were dealing with an aboleth turned into a reflection ghosts, using his powers and connection with the Ethereal Plane to travel through reflections; she noticed that Poogs seemed particularly shaken by the visions of the creature, but Heera indicated the half-elf to let the goblin rest. They went upstairs, finding a weakened Duderonomous near the darkened crystal of the lighthouse, surrounded by windows from where the reflections of the ghost laughed at them all, sending a wave of psychic energy that they resisted. After that, the combined efforts of Idrin and Farah caused the spectral aboleth to fly away and hide in a well on the other side of the island, leaving a trail of red smoke behind. Then, they helped Duderonomous regain his memories with some potions, and Heera helped Farah identify one of them by deciphering part of the elven mage's instructions.
"The Dark Well" (RTx09)[]
As Timpani was healing his friends before following the aboleth Duderonomous explained to them that its ghost had kidnapped his pig companion, Thyme. Heera immediately sympathized with him, showing him a portrait of his calf Saffron, and telling him how bad she would feel if something happened to him. Eventually, she and her friends agreed on a plan to face the aboleth and bait it with its bones, and potentially rescue Thyme too. The rogue led the way going inside the well they found a cave with a portal, and a pool where the missing pig was floating; Heera immediately went to take her, and hid her under her poncho, declaring that she was ready to leave already. The plan continued, and Farah, using the aboleth's skull, made it appear in its ghostly form, and attacked it with her shortsword, but the monster responded by knocking her unconscious as it chased Frog (the one carrying the bag with the bones). Heera, had stayed hidden, but after seeing this she took the opportunity to attack the monster before it left; she then called Timpani (being hit as she was doing so), who came to heal Farah. After trying to attack it again, Heera followed the aboleth, taking off her boots to move faster using her hooves, being healed by Timpani's Healing Word as she was leaving. On the surface she found the ghost attacking her friends and failing to take its bones because of the shining lighthouse Duderonomous had turned on. Under the poncho, Thyme (who was, in fact, an awakened pig) thanked Heera for her help and encouraged her, so the tiefling used her rapier to destroy the aboleth. She immediately Misty Stepped in Idrin's direction, waking him up with dried fish, and praising his bravery when he asked.
They went to the sea cave to close the portal the ghost had been using, and as Timpani was doing so, a spectral black finger attacked him, leaving him confused and unfocused, talking nonesense; Heera asked Farah what was that entity, but the monster hunter didn't know. After Idrin determined that was likely a magical disease they tried to bring the firbolg to Duderonomous, as Heera used her horn to call him, but Timpani used his Hidden Step to walk away, still confused, running towards a tree and casting Transport via Plants. His friends ran after him and crossed the portal in time, appearing in the Utesspire Mountains. Recognizing the area, Poogs agreed to bring Timpani to his old home to help him.
"The Curse of Strife (episode)" (RTx10)[]
Poogs guided his friends through the mountains, and while he was doing so he talked to Heera about his past with the Curse of Strife, as well as his first encounter with Timpani; she admitted she wanted to help the firbolg even though her first impression of him wasn't good, and when she learned that both her and Poogs tried to steal from him the first time they met, she retorically asked who hadn't thought of it (causing both Frog and Idrin to raise their hands). Since Idrin had commented that his father had experience with something similar to the Curse of Strife, Heera also talked to him, asking him if he would inherit the curse, and offering to deal with him if he went insane; the wizard then clarified that his father had experience dealing with people affected by the curse of ruin (but he didn't have it), and shared with her some information about his family and culture in Xhorhas, including his concerns about his pasts lives (although the concept of consecution was confusing for the tiefling). When they went through an area of a tunnel with Goblin writing both Heera and Poogs confirmed that hobgoblins had arrived to the area at some point, and when the rogue tried to access the settlement by asking for help in Goblin, Poogs praised her accent. Idrin ended up using Vortex Warp so that Heera and his Unseen Servant could open the doors for them.
When they finally arrived to the goblin settlement, Hug Hive, they found it very welcoming, and were greeted by Freedom Windsong, the medic Poogs had told them about; Heera answered to him in Goblin, causing a good impression. They asked him for help, and the doctor agreed to examine Timpani, revealing the firbolg suffered from mindfire, an effect of the Contagion spell, and left him with his assistants, assuring the group that with a few hours and the proper ritual, Timpani would be healed; while they were at the doctor's place Heera drank some of his tea, feeling more relaxed after that. Freedom guided them through a tunnel, showing them a pillar with a goblin hand holding a cupcake, and telling them how Poogs indirectly helped free his community from the Curse of Strife; that made Poogs cry, and Heera told him in Goblin that sometimes even small gestures could help others. When Freedom repeated outloud the name of the settlement Heera expressed doubt about how it sounded, and the older goblin told her that since she seemed to be a very hopeful person, perhaps they would rename the place "Hope Hive" (something Farah found funny). Then the doctor recommended the adventurers to meditate there for a bit, and they did so, receiving a magical boon. Later, after Poogs told them that the Slayer's Take had defeated a mind flayer there once, they started investigating, and thanks to Heera's knowledge of the Goblin language they learned that the remains of the aberration (that used to decorate the entrance) had been gone for only a week. As the rogue and Farah were moving towards the door, the entire group suffered a psychic attack and heard a telepathic threat, falling to their knees.
"The Rotten Soldiers" (RTx11)[]
Scouts informed the people of Hug Hive that an army of undead was approaching, and the adventurers and some of the local goblins (who had also been affected by the psychic attack) took a moment to rest and drink some healing kombucha; Frog tried to thank them in Goblin, and Heera spend some time giving her tips to improve her accent, although they stopped when Poogs reminded them it wasn't the moment for that. The Re-Slayers decided to organize the defense of the settlement, and Heera used the promise of fun to gather people, since, although they were no longer violent, they were more than willing to make traps to cause chaos among the enemies, using, for example, the ribcage of a landshark. As the skeletons started approaching, the rogue hid behind a stalagmite, and once she saw how Farah attacked a big rotting tree, exposing the marionette bulb it carried, the tiefling attacked it too. Remembering Duderonomous advice about trusting her team, Heera used her rapier to teleport into the air, producing a flaming wave in the process that damaged her enemy, although it retaliated by moving skeletons towards her to attack her. She then went back to the tree to attack once more, but was unable to reach the bulb, so she tried to hide beneath its roots; being aware of her location, the tree tried to attack her, but ended up hurting itself, being destroyed shortly after by Idrin's Scorching Ray (although Heera was also damaged in the process). The tiefling went after the last of the big enemies attacking Hug Hive, a mushroom monster, and used a spell scroll to attack it with fire, after which she managed to find a weak spot, using it to expose the bulb at its core.
By then the missing illithid skeleton had appeared and was using its Psychic Assault against the adventurers, and Heera resisted it, but Frog got badly hurt; the mind flayer, determining she was weak, focused its attack on her, and although the monk was trying to protect the tiefling, both of them were affected by the enemy's power, feeling confused and with blurry vision. Heera found herself in the burning village the aboleth had used to torture her hours before, and saw the illithid there; she tried to free herself from its influence, but she failed. Shortly after, however, her friends won the battle, and she regained control, in time to see Timpani, completely healed, returning to the party.
"The Timberblight of Dead Man's Table" (RTx12)[]
After saying goodbye to Freedom and his people, they were given miniature horses to return to the tree that had brought them to the Utesspire Mountains; Frog's horse was very nervous, since the Aeormaton looked heavy, and although Heera tried to calm it down, Farah took the intiative and took that mount for herself, forcing Frog to choose a less nervous animal. Later, as Timpani was speaking to them and thanking them for being with him in that mission, Heera tried to encourage the team before their battle against the Timberblight, by explaining that each member of the party represented something that opposed rot; she also admitted that she had missed Timpani even if she didn't like him much at first, and Farah complimented her by explaining that she brought hope to the team (like Freedom had told them back in Hug Hive). With Travel via Plants they returned the Vesper Timberland, arriving through a tree near Dead Man's Table, which they climbed easily thanks to Heera's help; when they reached the top Putridius was already waiting for them. A battle ensued, and thanks to her eye for detail Heera was able to determine the enemy had a physical core they could hit, warning the rest of the team through the earrings as she cast Darkness; Putridius, however, turned Invisible and approached the tiefling to attacked, absorbing part of her Hellish Rebuke when she reacted. Since she got poisoned by the spores surrounding the Timberblight Heera moved away, but he followed her and knocked her unconscious, being healed by Timpani immediately after. When Idrin Confused Putridius, Frog, Farah, and Heera launched consecutive attacks at him, with the latter stabbing him with her rapier and then teleporting away (although the dark druid protected himself from the fire). Shortly after that Frog defeated him as she was taking the unconscious Poogs away from him.
Timpani healed the group with Mass Cure Wounds, Heera hugged Farah and Idrin, and friendly poked Frog's forehead before Poogs and Timpani joined them; then, following the rogue's own initiative, they all pounded it, putting their firsts together in celebration. Poogs suggested to go back to Himblewood to rest, and as they were making their way to the town, they were stopped, with Heera, Frog, and Farah being magically paralyzed. They were surrounded by people of the Slayer's Take led by Heldwell, very ready to kill them; however, one of them, Sweeny (a gnome), saved them by teleporting them to a bakery where Kashaw Vesh told the group Osysa wanted to speak with them.
"The Cat's Cathedral" (RT2x01)[]
While Kash guided them to the lair of Osysa, Timpani explained the origins of the Re-Slayer's Take, and when Kash commented that the firbolg had lied to his friends in order to create the group, Heera defended him, stating that the end justified the means; the cleric, however, assured them he wasn't judging them. When they finally were in front of the sphinx Heera tried to act tough in front of her, and even defended Poogs when the monster focused on him, refusing to be intimidated; however, when Osysa said that she wanted to see if they were worthy of her attention, the tiefling nervously asked if she was interested in hiring them (causing the leader of the Slayer's Take to point out how ironic the comment was, since they were supposed to be an altruistic group). Shortly after she isolated each member of the group with darkness and illusions, and made comments about Heera's dark family and how unloved she had been with them; the rogue told her that she didn't need nor could control other people's thoughts about her, but she could control the things that surrounded her and her friends. The sphinx commented that perhaps she had overlooked aspects of her family's environment that she could actually control, but Heera assured her she didn't have too much connection with them. Osysa cryptically told her that fate would drag her back to her family, and showed her a vision of her mother when she was younger, in front of a burning altar, touching an ugly tusked mask adorned with flaming red eyes and a spiky crown, causing marks of chains to appear in her arm, at the same time that Heera felt the same thing; then her mother aged to reflect her actual age, her head suddenly snapped to look at her daughter, crying a little, and pronounced her name before everything disappeared. When the Re-Slayers were released, Idrin, who was very affected by his own test, threw his magical beads to Poogs, and before the adventurers could react, the wizard crossed a portal to Xhorhas.
After returning to Timpani's house, Kash started talking to them again, but Heera, hurt and irritated, started making sarcastic comments until the cleric understood they wanted privacy, and left. Frog asked if Idrin seemed happy as he was leaving, but Heera told her that he seemed hurt and conflicted. Poogs was nervous about what to do with the beads, and Heera tried to cheer him up telling him that Idrin wanted him to protect them, although she mentioned that the goblin lacked ability, making him feel worse. Frog kneeled in front of him and helped him put the beads on his wrists, causing the moved Poogs to declare that he would do his best until they find someone worthy of the item. Again Heera tried to cheer him up by saying that he was already worthy, and the goblin commented that in the past he had been a thief, recounting the way he met Timpani; Frog replied that under other circumstances she could have ended up a criminal too, although she would not be as good as Poogs (making him feel bad again).
"The Masked Man" (RT2x02)[]
That night, sleeping for the first time in the new headquarters, Heera had a nightmare in which she was surrounded by smoke and flames, and a mysterious figure with red eyes noticed her and called for her, using chains to force her to walk towards him. When she woke up she was very nervous, and noticed in the mirror right in front of her bed that her reflection didn't copy all her movements; moreover, her forearm still had the chain marks, and there she could read the words "promised one" in Infernal. She distracted herself by swipping the floor for a bit before covering the marks with bracers. Shortly after Timpani knocked on her door and they went outside with the rest of the group. The druid gave them some money and left. Since Poogs had insinuated that the firbolg had a date, the group started following, but when he discovered them (and Heera failed to convince him that they were just looking for a present for him) he turned invisible to leave them behind. After that Heera went for a walk by herself, and in the street she found a man who had a draconic-looking lizard on his shoulders; she tried to take it, but the man used a blade to scare her away. After that, the rogue found a store in which she asked the owner (a purple tiefling) for a strong pet for her grandmother; she asked for a stirge, and thanks to her Ear for Deceit she was able to determine that the other tiefling did have illegal wares, he just couldn't sell them openly. After some coded conversation he led her to a basement in which he showed her a black egg with white dots and a slightly acidic shell, and Heera happily purchased it for 75 gold pieces.
After that she found Poogs, Farah, and Frog, and when the latter was telling them about how interesting the library was, Heera asked her if she was ever worried about discovering something about the past that she would rather not know, declaring that the present and the future were more important. The Aeormaton told her that that was very wise, but that she still wanted to learn new things, asking Heera and Farah about their favorite colors (gold and brown, respectively). Timpani joined them shortly after, looking embarrassed but unwilling to talk about it.
"The Dire Descent" (RT2x03)[]
After Frog told them about her encounter with Devexian (which, after she saw the sketch of the Aeormaton, caused Heera to declare he was very attractive) and a potential mission to retrieve her missing pieces, the group agreed to go; when Frog, thankful, called them her family, Heera joked about them getting along too well to be family, but she refused to elaborate when the monk asked about her relatives. During the hour of preparation before leaving, Heera adapted her poncho to be able to put her new egg there and bring it with her; while she was doing so she noticed some movement inside, determining it would hatch in less than a week, and kissed its shell (burning her lips a little bit because of the acid). When they appeared in the Spectrum Gorge there was a landslide and they were attacked by a magma landshark controlled by marionettes, at which Heera shot an arrow as a first instinct, but without managing to hurt it. When Timpani's Wall of Stone caused Poogs to be thrown into the air, the rogue had to catch him; shortly after, when Farah became pink goo because of a experimental product she had purchased, Heera, shocked, started asking questions, but her friend told her that if she didn't she wouldn't ask about her egg either.
They took refuge in a mining company building, where they found a Disguised man who, after Heera noticed his illusory appearance, revealed his true looks and introduced himself as Xella. The tiefling quickly identified him as the merchant Devexian had told Frog about, and when Xella told them about his connections with a hag, who had acted as a foster mother of sorts, Heera declared they wouldn't judge him for that, since there were a lot of family types. The Re-Slayers decided that they would defeat the monster outside if Xella helped them, and after some preparation at a workshop (where Heera decided to leave her egg with Xella's mechanical bat, for protection), they descended through the tunnels guided by the merchant. While they were walking Heera suddenly crouched, surrounded by a dark aura, and Commanded Xella to sit, although his improved armor prevented him from doing so. Shortly after they discovered that the current that was supposed to keep the magma landshark away was hampered by fungal growth.
"The Monstrous Mine" (RT2x04)[]
When Heera saw that Xella seemed willing to help them deal with the fungus she decided to trust him, freeing him from her spell and letting him use Farah's crossbow, although he rejected it, since he had his own weapons; the rogue tried to give the magic item back to her friend, but she was still made of ooze, and wasn't able to use it. Since the landshark was approaching, Heera moved stealthily in the shadows, ready to attack it, although while she was doing so she felt as if something was observing her; when the monster finally appeared and the tiefling noticed its marionette bulbs, she leaped and using Booming Blade managed to destroy one of them. Shortly after Frog restore the river, and the landshark, scared of the current, tried to dig through the ceiling (getting hurt by Booming Blade again); Heera, to prevent it from escaping, used her Thaumaturgy to create water sounds above the monster, tricking it and forcing it to return, although it landed on top of her, making her fall to the ground. Seeing this, Poogs approached and used Idrin's beads to give Heera a protective ward, and Timpani used Healing Word on her too; she, worried about the goblin's safety, told him to step back (which he did, somewhat hurt by her lack of trust), and then attacked the last bulb, destroying it and getting rid of the vines and the landshark's body. The remaining spiritual energy in the battlefield was absorbed by Heera's through her Dark One's Blessing, but that caused her chain tattoo to burn and become more visible (although she avoided the questions about it).
After helping Sasha (Xella's bodyguard) the group left the mines with them, and the artificer was so thankful that he gave three magic items to the Re-Slayers: Heera's was a thin golden wand, which apparently would be useful for her magic. Xella's bat returned the egg to Heera, and the artificer informed the Re-Slayers about strange things happening in a gnomish village nearby, and adviced them that in order to be a better team they should avoid keeping secrets from each other, although no one acknowledged it as an issue; as they were leaving, the rogue noticed for a brief moment her reflection looking like her mother looking at them through a mirror, but then resumed her complaining about Xella not knowing what he was talking about, and didn't say anything about it.
"The Befuddled Bravehearts" (RT2x05)[]
The next morning, on the way to Seedfeld, Heera noticed that Poogs was annoyed, and when he told her that he didn't like it when they kept him away from danger when he was trying to help them, Heera made him smile by explaining he offered a lot of unique things to their team, beyond combat skills, but the Re-Slayers would be willing to train him if he wanted. After that the rogue asked Frog to Identify her chain mark, and when the monk told her that it helped her channel her magic, she admitted some of the weird things she had been seeing the last few days, asking them to kill her if she went insane (only Farah agreed); she also asked Frog to Identify her Quick Coil Wand, and she told her its properties.
When they arrived to Seedfeld Heera noticed that the town seemed to be empty, but when she saw a white monkey on a roof she got excited and called it, unintentionally casting Command. The animal obeyed and she tried to grab it, but as soon as her spell ended it attacked her with a harmless but violent blast of air, screaming and calling its pack. The wind gibbons seemed very aggressive, and rude, according to Timpani, so Heera suggested the druid to persuade them to let them go (he did so successfully, with some assistance from Frog). They entered the village and found a muscular gnomish woman absently cleaning the streets, and expressing concern about the soldiers finding the place dirty; Heera played along, claiming to be one of the soldiers and asking her to guide them. Shortly after that Norbert Klott appeared, ready to attack them, but stopped when the tiefling cast Friends and he realized they weren't bandits. He brought them to a tavern and told them that he was taking care of the local heroes, the Mega Magic Paladins, who had become incapacitated after trying to solve the mystery of the yellow cloud blocking the sun over their town; when he mentioned that the Slayer's Take had come to Seedfeld before Heera told Frog to check her tome, and the Aeormaton confirmed they had killed a troll in the mountain known as Oogleberg, a decade before. Frog tried using Identify to reveal what was wrong with the paladins, and when she failed Farah pointed out that it might be a curse, undetectable for her friend's spell; that caused Heera to move away from them, as a precaution. They tried using Lesser Restoration like they had done with Sasha, but it didn't work.
After leaving Poogs behind to take care of the paladins, Norbert guided them to Oogleberg. Farah used her new boots to climb first and reach the entrance of the cave, holding a rope so her friends could climb more easily, and warning them about the holes she had seen on her way up, since she was sure there were cave fishers there. Heera went first, but she was attacked by the fishers, pulled by one of their tendrils, and being stunned shortly after by a falling rock. Frog immediately climbed up too to help her, but the cave fishers tried to pull her too, and had to be assisted by Timpani and Norbert; during the process Heera regained consciousness and swore vengeance on the creatures attacking them. When they all reached the cave Farah seemed very worried, and when Heera lied down, putting a piece of her recently broken horn next to her, the blood hunter insisted that they take a break before entering.
"The Confounding Cavern" (RT2x06)[]
Timpani used sap, vines, and Cure Wounds to re-attach Heera's horn tip to her head, although he told her that the fix wasn't permanent, since his healing magic tended to work in a general way, not correcting specific features; the tiefling, after checking her reflection in Frog's metal body, expressed her anger towards the creatures of the mountain, declaring she intended to find the cave fisher that had made her fall, and eat it. Farah told her that later they could go back and find Xella to fix her horn completely, and Heera liked the plan, but got suspicious when she noticed her friend's nervous demeanor. They all entered the cave, just to reappear outside with some injuries but no memories; Heera was able to deduce that some of the damage had been caused by a fall. She, Farah, and Timpani went inside again, while Frog and Norbert waited outside, holding a rope tied to them. However, the rogue and the blood hunter reappeared outside once more, without the druid.
Heera contacted him with the magical earrings, and he talked to her very alarmed for a few seconds before the communication was suddenly cut. After Frog convinced Norbert to let them use the daggers of the Mega Magic Paladins, Heera took the green one and was the first one to figure out how to activate its power, giving Frog some advice about her posture so that she could do the same. After blindfolding herself, Heera entered the cave once more with the rest of the group, and they managed to reach a safer area, there she uncovered her eyes and noticed a clue in the ground, left by Timpani. Thanks to that, they arrived to a chamber in which they found a very alarmed Timpani coming out of a portal, followed by yellow gas that reanimated the skeleton of Ügel the troll.
"The Promised Pact" (RT2x07)[]
After Farah was knocked unconscious with poison for a moment, Heera approached after Timpani healed her and cast Protection from Evil and Good on her, producing fiendish red light for a moment. After noticing that some necrotic particles in the ceiling were draining the radiant energy of the battlefield, the tiefling used her new wand to Quicken her Darkness spell, obscuring the upper part of the chamber; after that she attacked the troll with Booming Blade, hitting it so hard it moved away from her. When a powerful blast of poison engulfed everyone but Heera, knocking Farah and Norbert unconscious, the rogue noticed a presence watching her, and without looking in that direction she said that if he helped her friends she would give him whatever he wanted. The Strife Emperor expressed his approval, and for a moment Heera heard the voice of her mother apologizing; then she felt dark satisfaction as the chain marks extended through her body and her eyes glowed with a dark red light. The portal in the chamber became black, producing chains that grabbed Heera and moved her friends away, as a cyclone of otherworldly fire engulfed both her and Ügel; a few seconds later Heera felt extremely exhausted, but so was the troll. Frog, noticing that her friend was exposed, drank her Potion of Flying and took her with her to move her away from the monster, but it chased them and hit them. As Frog was falling to the ground unconscious she managed to move in a way that would prevent Heera from taking damage; the rogue, unable to move despite Timpani's Mass Cure Wounds, took the loose piece of her horn and shot it with her crossbow, hitting the undead troll and defeating it.
Shortly after Grimm Heldwell became visible in the reflective walls of the chamber, mocking the Re-Slayers and questioning their morality, as he focused on Heera and her connection to the Betrayer God; she pointed out that the wizard himself seemed to have made a dark deal, but that at least hers was for good reasons, which led to her insulting him (briefly supported by Frog). Heldwell declared that even if Heera's words were accurate, he was no longer alone, and when the tiefling boasted wondering which of their dark master was more powerful, he wondered what would Poogs think when he knew he was traveling with the Harbinger of Strife herself. After that Farah and Timpani tried to prevent the wizard from talking through the mirrors, but the connection wasn't broken until Norbert encouraged the adventurers, and together used the power of the daggers to destroy the lair and get out of the cave (Heera was very sleepy but Timpani grabbed her so she wouldn't have to run herself); when they finally reached safety Farah confessed it had been her who dropped the rock that hit Heera, shocking the rogue.
"The Melancholic March" (RT2x08)[]
When the adventurers saw how the local cave fishers returned to the new caldera Frog asked Heera if she should hit them for her, and she told her friend to hit Farah instead; the blood hunter explained that she had thrown the rock remembering her promise of killing the tiefling if she ever was compromised somehow, and after a few seconds Heera started cackling. She was glad someone took the promise seriously, mocking her friend for not being able to actually kill her, and suggesting the old woman was fond of her. Since the rogue was still exhausted Timpani carried her, and on their way back to Seedfeld she fell asleep, staying unconscious during the whole celebration with Norbert and the Mega Magic Paladins, speaking in her sleep and sucking the tip of her tail, which was wrapped around her own body.
The next morning the Re-Slayers left, since Frog's compass was detecting one of her missing pieces westward, and they took a wagon with them to carry the sleeping Heera; on their way to the Utesspire Mountains she heard the conversation between Poogs and Timpani about the goblin learning new skills to use in a fight, and Heera started ennumerating the many flaws she had noticed on him while Frog started transcribing. Later, when the tiefling expressed concern about the fact that Heldwell had Gurt's lantern, Timpani agreed to go check on his friend and return the next day; while they were waiting for him Heera used the wagon as a tent and rested there for a bit. When Timpani returned he told them the tree used to access Gurt's bog had been burned, and following Poogs's advice, he used an owl to cast Animal Messenger and send a message to his friend, with the rest of the Re-Slayers telling him how to use the limited number of words for the spell. Frog told the rest of the group that they should keep traveling in the morning, since at night she couldn't see, not even with glasses; noticing this, Heera pointed out that the glasses weren't very useful as part of the monk's disguise, since she was always very direct about sharing her identity as an Aeormaton. When Timpani asked her if she was ok, Heera told Frog to be more careful, trying to sound more gentle, but got stressed again when she checked her legs and saw that the chain marks had grown there too. When she noticed her friends talking about last fight in a cheerful way, she approached, closed Frog's journal with her drawings, and shared her thoughts about their vulnerable position now that Heldwell was an ally of the Timberblight. Poogs suggested to finish their current task and return to Vasselheim to ask the Slayer's Take for advice, there was a brief argument about how trustworthy the guild was, and both Heera and Timpani admitted that the predictions Osysa had shared with them had happened already. Shortly after Frog told her friend that she would listen to her advice and try to be more discreet in the future. When they were about to go to bed Heera took her egg to sleep hugging it, but panicked when she noticed it was cold; Poogs, however, calmed her down by telling her that hook horror eggs needed to be warm during the day and cold during the night in order to hatch, and the tiefling, after admitting she had been doing it wrong, was thankful for the information, especially after they moved their camp to rest in a colder area to benefit the egg.
"The Restless Retreat" (RT2x09)[]
After a small surprise when they found a swarm of eidolon ghosts in the area (which Heera recognized), the adventurers went to bed, and Poogs stayed awake alone for the first watch, being followed by Farah. While that was happening, Heera had a dream in which Timpani woke her up for her watch, and asked her about her family before wondering if they would be as disgusted with her as he was; the dream then changed, becoming more nightmarish as the terrain was destroyed and the gargantuan form of of the Strife Emperor appeared, followed by fearsome warriors. Heera started holding her family's horn and claimed she was not afraid, but the Betrayer God told her that she was lying, but that she was meant to lead, since her mother had promised her to him; when the tiefling asked why her and not her siblings, the deity declared that they had renounced her but she had let him in, and was unimpressed when she tried and failed to destroy the horn she was holding. She woke up suddenly before Farah told her to, and when the old half-elf asked her friend if she was ok, Heera responded she wasn't at all; she stayed awake until it was time to wake up Frog. In the morning, when they woke up, Poogs suggested Goodberry pancakes for breakfast, and him and Timpani made them together, for the rest of the group; when Frog expressed her excitement about the possibility of tasting food, Heera was surprised that the Aeormaton was interested in food she could not taste nor digest, and when it was suggested that they could find a piece that allowed her to do so, the idea of her friend having an actual tongue disgusted the rogue. Later, while they were eating, Heera took one of Timpani's pancakes with the excuse that she needed to recover her energy, but she was watching him all the time; when the rest of the group assumed that the tiefling had noticed Timpani manipulating the food with his dirty shirt, he apologized, but still got confused when Heera kept watching him closely, even while they were moving the wagon.
They continued advancing through the mountain pass until they came across a large nest with four eggs; Timpani identified it as a roc nest, and was very concerned, since he suspected the mother roc was near. He got very alarmed when Heera approached one of the hatching eggs, telling her that they couldn't keep it; it was then when the mother flew down, furious, and Heera left the firbolg with the egg, dodging an attack from the gargantuan bird. Farah tried to knock the monster unconscious with her sleepy cupcakes, but smashed the food on its chest instead of the beak, and Heera tried to distract it using Thaumaturgy to make hatchling sounds away from them; when the roc grabbed Timpani with a claw Poogs approached and managed to push some of the cupcake inside its mouth, causing it to fall asleep. As they were leaving the area Poogs tried to relieve some tension joking about Heera's hook horror egg, but she started weeping because of the stress, complaining about how uncomfortable she felt recently, and how her looks were ruined (comparing herself to "Crooks", a tiefling with crooked horns she used to mock when she was young). The group comforted her, with Frog and Poogs encouraging the idea of finding a golden piece to fix her horn, and they ended up hugging as a group. Timpani also assured Heera that regardless of what she thought, he was a simple man without hidden motivations, but she didn't seem completely convinced, remembering her dream. After that Farah approached Heera to make sure they were ok, despite she being the reason her horn had broken; the tiefling declared that her horror hook egg was supposed to be a gift for the older woman once it hatched, but that if she could keep it they would be ok, so Farah agreed. They kept moving, and when they heard some detonations in the distance, they went in that direction. Farah said it sounded like ship cannons, but Poogs argued that none of the bodies of water in the area was big enough for a boat with those weapons. After a while they came to a valley with a solitary cabin and a sign written in Dwarvish (which Heera could read) that threatened trespassers, saying they would be thrown off the top of the mountain.
"The Hermit's Hill" (RT2x10)[]
When they started climbing the stairs they soon discovered that there were hidden traps, when Timpani activated one that left him hanging from a rope. Heera, slightly amused by the situation, examined the trap and determined it was a Snare spell, theorizing that the person in the cabin might have trapped multiple steps of the stair; said person, Professor Alexander Parade, opened his door and told them which areas of the stair to avoid, and following those instructions, Heera was the first to arrive to the cabin. The tiefling talked to him for a bit, and when she found his broken radio she tried to fix it, without success; when her friends arrived she told them to be respectful with Alexander. The group was curious about the mechanical arms the dwarf had attached to his back (identifying them as Frog's missing piece), as well as the pet-like automaton he kept in the cabin, even though it didn't work anymore, but he didn't reveal much. While they were drinking tea Heera opened a door and found a strange puppet-like twig creature, which Alexander destroyed with his blunderbuss (startling the rogue); several of those creatures attacked the cabin and the adventurers helped defending it: Heera used her Thaumaturgy to put out the flames Farah had summoned near the window, and shot an arrow to a twig creature trying to steal Alexander's weapon. When everything calmed down, as they were talking, Heera decided to examine the broken automaton, Douglas, with Frog's help: they determined it had a missing piece, and because of that it didn't work; after Alexander explained that some thugs had damaged Douglas, Heera deduced based on the notes written in the walls of the cabin that the professor, despite his interest in Aeorian technology, had a very speculative knowledge about his field of study. They ended up agreeing to help their host with his current problem in exchange for some useful information.
"The Terrible Twigmen" (RT2x11)[]
Alexander brought them to a crater where he showed them how to use the black powder, causing an explosion that exposed several diamonds in the ground. He explained that although he preferred Aeorian technology, he used those gems to buy food in a town; when Heera asked how much food did he get for each diamond, the professor told her that one jewel was worth several biscuits, and she, realizing they were taking advantage of him, expressed interest in visiting said town. Shortly after a twigman appeared and stole Frog's screwdriver, so they went to their lair; on their way there Heera wondered if the dwarf's actions and their damage to nature were the actual cause for the twigmen's weird behavior, and Timpani rejoiced knowing the tiefling was worried about the environment like him (she admitted she was worried about the animals). She took that chance to tell Frog about an old woman she knew that used to talk about Scanlan Shorthalt being dead and replaced by a plant Vecna used to send secret messages with music, and compared her musings (harmless but unreliable) with Alexander's own theories about Aeor; both she and the Aeormaton agreed they should find a way to tell the dwarf to focus on a different area of study without offending him. When they arrived to the area where the twigmen lived they talked with a pine tree via Speak with Plants, and it told them that those creatures had been created by a night hag; when Alexander commented he had interacted with a woman that fit the description of the witch Heera remembered Xella and his origins and asked about it, getting confirmation that during his encounter with the hag, Alexander had seen a young boy with her. The professor told Timpani to approach the twigmen's lair and use the black powder against them, encouraging him to use a great amount of it; Heera talked to him and gave him a candle so that he wouldn't have to light the powder near it, and as she was doing so, she took some of the black powder from him. Even with that precaution, the detonation was huge, and angered the twigmen.
"The Hexed Hive" (RT2x12)[]
When the battle started, Heera climbed the still sentient pine tree, who encouraged to attack the "sap stealers", and so she did, shooting at one of the biggest ones, who had two faces; shortly after she was joined by Poogs she shot again, and killed that giant twigman. The tree used its own branches to prevent the smaller enemies from reaching them, and helped by Poogs, who lit a torch, Heera sent flaming arrows against their enemies, hitting one of them in the point where Alexander had hurt it, causing massive damage. Shortly after, when Frog disappeared inside the crater, Heera and Poogs approached, stopping for a moment so that the goblin could help Timpani, who got stuck in the hole; when they finally reached their friend, Alexander had already finished the last enemy off. Exploring the tunnels they found the night hag's old lair, and investigating Heera noticed a cauldron with runes that contained a trap set to release the Circle of Death spell, so she drew a circle around it so her friends wouldn't touch it. Farah, who had noticed a small door in a wall, asked the rogue to open it, and she agree, although declaring she wanted to deal with witchcraft no longer; she discovered a small room with toys and drawings that proved Xella had grown up there. Moved by this, Heera took the drawings and bluntly asked to Frog to keep them in case they found the hexblood again.
After they recovered Douglas's heart piece and Frog's screwdriver they returned to Alexander's cabin, where he fixed his robotic dog. After a brief period of celebration the dwarf offered them to stay, but the Re-Slayer's Take had to leave. As they were saying goodbye Heera suggested Alexander to limit his excavations to the one crater he had already created, and tried to persuade him by declaring there was Aeorian technology below, but he told her that ultimately he would explore whatever terrain he deemed adequate. After that the adventuring party left with their wagon.
"The Decomposing Domicile" (RT2x13)[]
After returning to Vasselheim, the Re-Slayer's Take spent a couple of quiet days, and Heera recovered from her exhaustion; even then, she wasn't feeling well, being constantly under the impression that someone was watching her, and finding her own reflection odd, even when it looked normal. Still, she tried to keep her room tidy, and created a nest for her hook horror egg, which moved from time to time. When Poogs came to check on her before leaving to do some errands, she heard him coming and opened her door before he knocked; Timpani asked her if she had rested at all, and she, irritated, told Poogs to watch his back without taking her eyes off the druid. The goblin then proceeded to announce that Kash has sent them a letter offering them a mission investigating Heldwell's mansion, where people had gone missing. Frog assured the Poogs that he and Timpani could leave the mission to them, and Heera declared that she would like it that way, since she needed some time away from Timpani, whose visage had been tormenting her in dreams, even if she knew the real Timpani wasn't smart enough to plot against her; somewhat hurt by the comment, he agreed, apologizing for whatever his dream self had done to her. When Poogs noticed her tattoos and pressed the matter, the tiefling admitted she might have had sold her soul without knowing, and Timpani realized that had been the source of the fire that saved them in the fight against Ügel. Poogs offered her to find a way to break the deal, but she said she had to face the consequences of her own actions, and that they could thank her by being better teammates and less impulsive (referring to Farah, who had left suddenly following a whim). Shortly after, when Timpani suggested Freedom might be able to help her, she found the idea ridiculous, and Disguised as the Strife Emperor to show them how serious the issue was. She managed to terrify Poogs, but before leaving with him, Timpani told her that she was family now, and they wouldn't give up on her that easily. Frog then fixed the poncho her friend was wearing, and they went find Farah.
The three adventurers found the mansion surprisingly deteriorated, although with signs of four people having been there recently, and entered while Heera used Disguise Self pretending to be Heldwell, who had forgotten his keys; inside, when Frog noted how rotten everything was the tiefling mocked Heldwell by saying those were the consequences of making a deal with the Timberblight. Later the rogue found a tankard from A Taste of Tal'Dorei with a letter inside, connecting the four missing people (adventurers) with the Spectral Hand; she then declared that she hoped that the power of their weapons stayed with them and not the missing adventurers, and Frog argued that they should try to finish the mission with no one getting hurt. While Heera tried to open a door (claiming she had never had needed a key, even though that lock was proving to be difficult) Frog and Farah checked the second floor; when they contacted the tiefling through the earrings she told them she needed five more minutes, and later she contacted them, announcing that the door was open. As they were returning to the first floor the stairs broke under Frog's feet, and although she landed gracefully she asked her friends not to tell anyone about it; Heera argued that she knew no one outside the adventuring party. As they kept moving Farag gave Heera a book in Druidic she had found, and the tiefling used her family's horn to activate her Eyes of the Rune Keeper, revealing it was a tome about eidolon that they would want to check later. When Farah mentioned she had also found a necklace Heera assumed she had checked with Frog if it was cursed before taking it; both of them told her they had, and they all agreed the half-elf could keep it. Eventually they came to a room with an obelisk covered in Druidic runes, and with her powers Heera was able to identify its nature; although she initially tricket Farah into sharing a secret from her past (she had gambled all her money away) as a sort of bonding activity, she ended up revealing the obelisk actually required them to admit (verbally or mentally) their biggest fears. The tiefling proved it by revealing she feared to be seduced and doomed by the desire for power, causing the structure to start glowing. After the other two did their own confessions, a passage opened.
"The Hopeless Hostages" (RT2x14)[]
The three adventurers continued and Farah helped Heera open a door and deactivate a gas-based trap. When the blood hunter noticed that one of the portraits of Heldwell was torn and hid another door, that one led them to a dungeon in which the Spectral Hand adventurers were being held. Heera approached first and was recognized as one of their "rivals", so she started teasing them, first by addressing someone who clearly wasn't their leader, and then clarifying she knew they weren't competent enough for the job they had been sent there to do. However, since she knew Frog would be heartbroken if she left them there, she freed them from their magical shackles (and felt somewhat awkward when Dronk called her "sweet angel" as he thanked her).
The floor suddenly collapsed, and Heera, Farah, Gavain von Eitel, and Maurice Fiddlefoot ended up separated from the rest. Although Gavain tried to tell them that Frog would be safe with the other chosen of the Spectral Hand, when Heera inquired and Maurice told her he had been "chosen" in a casting, she told them to shut up. When Farah was attacked by a ghost Heera came to help her and cast Protection from Evil and Good; the blood hunter, noticing the faint chain tattoo caused by the spell, as well as its fiendish energy, shared a look with her friend, but didn't say anything, and instead boasted in front of the other adventurers that she and the tiefling were good teammates. They kept moving, led by Gavain, at Heera's request, and the knight, treating her as the leader of the Re-Slayer's Take, asked her why they were missing a member, since his own group still had four people; in response, the rogue (remembering a comment Farah had made about a certain Captain von Eitel) stated that if she was related to Gavain she would have abandoned him too, making him cry. Shortly after she had a vision of Poogs coming out of the shadows, although she immediately knew it was Bane. The Betrayer told her he was disappointed by her attempt of breaking her family's horn, and that even though she believed there were better candidates to do his bidding, he thought she had potential commading people, although she was wasting it by adventuring with her friends, and mocking her nickname, "Heera the Hopeful". The tiefling replied that if he wanted her to work for him, they would have to establish some rules, including not using her friends' faces against her. The Strife Emperor admitted he was using Poogs to annoy her, and when she replied he was just angry because the goblin was out of his reach now, he admitted he was planning something more "ironclad" to fix it, refusing to let acts of kindness be his downfall again. However, when he mentioned he needed Heera's help, she told him he shouldn't show his cards like that; he, seeing he couldn't intimidate her or outsmart her at the moment, decided to leave with their general understanding in place. Before the vision ended, Bane casually mentioned that the rogue should help her friends, since they were being attacked by ghosts and she had been saved only because the god had kept them at bay. As soon as the vision ended she used Friends to convince Maurice the vision of a seagull attacking him wasn't real; then, with Farah's help, she destroyed a ghost with Booming Blade. After that they decided to rest and light a fire so their friends could find them, and the tiefling advised against making the fire green or purple, since those colors were very associated to the undead spirits of the dungeon. When the others finally appeared, one hour later, Heera ran towards Frog to hug her, but ended up containing herself and simply stating she was glad the monk was ok. Shortly after Dronk ran towards a multicolored light Farah had recognized as a ghostly lure, and the floor collapsed beneath him. When the rest went after him (with Heera descending safely using her hooves) they ended up inside a funerary chamber with a mummy.
Relationships[]
Idrin Shadowstep[]
Idrin gained Heera's initial trust when he offered food, and she praised him when he showed how to cook fish with his magical skills. She seems to like his company, although she has misinterpreted his motivations for joining the Slayer's Take. In any case, she appreciates working with him, and kept some of the fish they shared when they met for the first time. He also trust her enough to talk to her about his family and his past lives, something that tortures him deeply.
When Idrin left the group she was the one that better understood what he was feeling as he did.
Frog[]
Although she cares a lot about Frog, a part of Heera doesn't like her because of the way she's always moving forward, researching about her own past without fear, and forcing others to move out of their comfort zone; she doesn't like the fact that the monk writes and draw everything, because that would mean that Heera's flaws and mistakes are immortalized.[17]
Farah Vallari[]
Farah and Heera are similar in many ways, being both cautious and sceptic, being in good terms despite their disagreements. Being uncomfortable causes Heera to lean more into her friendship with Farah, which is complicated since the blood hunter is less eager about making friends.[18]
When Farah admitted (tricked by Heera, who wanted to bond with her) she had had problems with money in the past, she declared she was surprised the rogue hadn't deduced it by herself, being the thief of their group.[19]

Behind the scenes[]
Jasmine Bhullar was particularly interested in playing a Marquesian tiefling because of its implications (to be defined later in the story).[36] Her character was inspired by Batman Beyond and Terry McGinnis, and her backstory was partially based on Jasmine's father and his own upbringing, as a person with big dreams but limited resources; going from there, she wanted to play a character that would inspire others like her.
Jasmine also admitted that while she created Heera to be a rogue, by the time they leveled up she didn't feel like she had earned a new level in that class, and instead decided to explore the narrative of her being a tiefling and her family having a pact with an otherworldly entity.[37]

Heera: Kind.[38] - Bane: (in her dream, before sending his chains after her) Why do you hide, Agneheart?[39]
- Bane: (after Heera agrees to serve him in exchange for help) Your promise is fulfilled.
Heera's mother: (as a voice) I'm sorry, my little owlet.[40]
Trivia[]
- Her name derives from the Sanskrit hīraka (diamond). The first half of her surname, agne-, could derive from the Latin agnus (lamb). Her surname could be a reference to her family's profession as shepherds.
- In universe, Heera's name is Marquesian.[41]
- Heera is the only one of the four adventurers Timpani recruited that doesn't have a mechanical aspect of her character built (such as her ancestry or her subclass) tied to Critical Role and its setting.
- Her horn is an item she got from her character's background.[42] A possible option that includes something like a family heirloom as an item is the Inheritor background.
- Although she has been described as Marquesian, she told Osysa she had been born "here" (presumably referring to Issylra).[43] It is unclear if this means she was born in one continent and raised in the other, and/or that she was trying to convince the sphinx that her ties to Marquet weren't important. In an interview Jasmine implied Heera is indeed Marquesian in origin.[44]
- Her association with peacocks is a trait in common with another tiefling player character, Mollymauk Tealeaf.
- She is not used to the cold.
- She has a perfect manicure.[45]
- She knows how to write in cursive and how to draw.
- Her favorite color is gold.[46]
- In the new headquarters of the Re-Slayer's Take, Heera lives on the fourth floor,[47] and everything there is carefully organized.[48]
- Jasmine briefly considered taking a level in paladin with Heera, but she didn't feel she was dedicated enough to anything.[49]
- If Heera hadn't joined the Re-Slayers she would probably be in jail because of her actions as a "white hat" thief.[50]
