The Graviturgy Boots are boots with a dunamantic enchantment that alters gravity.

Description[]

These boots have thin metal pieces and leather buckles.[2]

The book can be in their "neutral" mode, in which they work like normal shoes, or can activate two other modes:

  • Light: In this mode the person wearing the boots is under the permanent effect of a Jump spell, can climb as fast as they can walk, and have disadvantage on checks and saving throws to escape a grapple, the restrained condition, and avoid being shoved.
  • Heavy: In this mode the person wearing the boots is eight times heavier than usual, can grapple creatures up to the Huge size, and gains advantage on everything that the Light mode puts as disadvantage.[3]

History[]

In 839 PD the artificer Xella Blacktongue gave these boots to Farah Vallari as part of a promised reward, after she and the Re-Slayer's Take helped him rescue his bodyguard Sasha from a marionette-controlled magma landshark.[4] The next day Frog Identified the boots for Farah. She used them for the first time in Heavy mode when she thought wind gibbons were going to attack them; later she used them to climb Oogleberg, putting them in Light mode to move more easily, and then activating the Heavy mode to hold the rope that would allow the rest of the team to climb.[5] When they had to rescue Timpani inside the cave, Farah activated the Light move to move easily inside the mountain,[6] and she did so again when they were leaving the area so that she would be more easily carried with a wagon.[7]

Trivia[]

  • Their properties are similar (although not identical) to the Adjust Density ability.
