Gormalay is a region of Timmony in northern Pasitar.[4]

Description[]

There are temples of the Candescent Creed in Gormalay, as well as fort-like stronghouses.[5]

The wilds in that northern region are considered dangerous as of late.[6]

The Barony of Sloak[]

Main article: Sloak

Sloak is a small and very humble barony on the southern border of Gormalay. It is destitute, and most of the agriculture is subsistence farming and stunted trees because of the lack of sun caused by the tall mountains to the east.[7] The tiny village of Sloak is the home of the small, crumbling castle of the Baron.[8]

Tybry's Lea[]

This area, further north into Gormalay, is the seat of the Earl of the region, and presumably acts as its capital.[9]

History[]

House Halovar gained influence in Gormalay through their new religion, and they ship Filament there.[10]

When Thjazi Fang was to be executed, Casimir Gavendale left Dol-Makjar chasing after Talcydimir Pridesire, who had stolen his deed of title to a stronghouse in Gormalay, before running away.[5] He intended to speak to one of the local barons (unaware that it was a member of House Tachonis, Lord Doset) and make the case that Casimir shouldn't be rewarded in Gormalay because of his treachery in Dol-Makjar.[11] He, however, ended up being caught,[12] and the deed of title was taken from him and brought to Sloak, so that Casimir could take possession as the new Baron of that small settlement.[13]

While preparations were being made for the new Lord Sloak to visit the court of the Earl of Gormalay, he was defeated and killed by the Soldiers who, after taking control of the barony, decided to give it to Dame Winifred Cosgrove; she would later be advised by Dame Morgaine to wait for King Augustus Valian to return from Dol-Makjar and get the confirmation of her title from him directly, instead of dealing with the earl in Tybry's Lea.[14]
