Sea Dreamer Galadawna is a storm giant from the fallen city-state of Tempestar, and the current leader of her people.

Description[]

Personality[]

Galadawna is usually very reclusive, although she overcomes it whenever she needs to represent her people in front of the other highborn giants, in whose society she has no interest.[1]

Biography[]

Centuries ago, presumably at some point between 512 and 612 PD,[2] Tempestar, the flying city of the storm giants, fell to the Lucidian Ocean. Although there were survivors, many of the glories of the realm were lost to the sea, and what is more serious, Woden, demigod of the storm and the representative of the storm giants in the Council of Seven Scepters , abandoned the people of Tempestar after its fall.[3]

Sea Dreamer Galadawna became the leader of the now solitary storm giants, and in Woden's absence she began to attend the Council's annual meetings, now held at Jovatthon. In these meetings she had no interest in the politics of the other giants, but she made sure that the other highborn did not forget about the storm giants and their powerful sorcerers[1] (in 812 PD the cloud giants were actually very worried that the remnants of Tempestar would attack them if they organized enough, which is why they tried to appease them).[3]

As of 836 PD the Sea Dreamer hadn't miss a single meeting, but despite that she refused to claim Woden's old throne, or his Scepter of Wodensdottr (kept in a vault in the Castle of Thunder), unwilling to take the responsibilities that came with both.[1]

Appearances and mentions[]

Trivia[]

  • Her title, "Sea Dreamer", may date back to the days when Tempestar still roamed the skies, but whether Galadawna began using it before or after the fall is unknown.
  • It is quite possible that she knew Woden in person, and in addition to her lack of interest in bearing the responsibilities that once belonged to the demigod, perhaps she hopes that at some point he will return to claim his throne and scepter himself.

  2. Tempestar fell "centuries ago", so at least 200 years ago; storm giants can live around three centuries, and there is at least one from Tempestar, Galadawna, that still lives, so presumably it happened during her lifespan.
