Fusaka is a cooking spice used to season meat. It is commonly traded on the continent of Marquet[1] and the Menagerie Coast.[2]
Description[]
Raw fusaka appears similar to shavings of wood, which is then processed into a powder before being used in cooking.[3] Fusaka has a pungent smell, like a mix of dried cheese with a hint of cedar.[4] Its flavor is zesty with an almost meaty aftertaste.[5]
In the Menagerie Coast, a popular dish is fried fish cutlets spiced with fusaka.[2]
History[]
Jarett Howarth asked Vox Machina to bring back some fusaka for him when they went to visit his home city of Ank'Harel.[6] While in Ank'Harel, Scanlan Shorthalt came to believe that fusaka was some sort of illegal drug, and he was scammed into spending 400 gold for an amount worth only 20 gold.[7]
Cidrick Gillsman sold some fusaka to Chetney along with some more useful supplies.[8]
Trivia[]
- A recipe for "fusaka" (featuring brewer's yeast and powdered mastic gum) is included in Exquisite Exandria: The Official Cookbook of Critical Role.[9]
