A Frost Brand is a type of magic sword with several properties related to coldness.
Description[]
Pike Trickfoot's Frost Brand shortsword had a thick blade of faintly shining blue metal that shed a frozen mist at all times.[3] It spread a protective layer of cold across her metal armor, counteracting any fire.[4]
Once per hour, when drawing a Frost Brand sword, one can extinguish all nonmagical flames within 30 feet. When holding the sword, it grants resistance to fire damage, and in freezing temperatures, it sheds dim light. On each hit, the sword deals 1d6 additional cold damage.[5]
History[]
Campaign One: Vox Machina[]
Pike Trickfoot bought her Frost Brand from Gilmore's Glorious Goods.[6] She first used the shortsword, purely for personal protection, during Keyleth's trial against the fire elemental Wild Shapes of the Pyrah Ashari.[7] She later carried it when chasing Umbrasyl.[8]
Pike also used the Frost Brand in "Critical Role Q&A and Battle Royale: Take II" (Sx10) to strike Percival de Rolo, leaving the wound sealed with ice.[9]
Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep[]
In Cael Morrow, in the armory of a guard tower where the personnel were devoted to Corellon, god of arcane magic, there is a Frost Brand longsword.[10]
