The Dunrock Mountains are large, spiky and snowy crags dividing the northern Dwendalian Empire from the Greying Wildlands further northward[2] and the last rampart against the corruption of the Savalirwood.[1] They were once a solid mountain range which was sundered at the Quannah Breach into ravines that share a similar shape.[3]

Description[]

The steep grades and icy terrain make the Dunrock Mountains hazardous to traverse, and few beyond smugglers and gutsy hunters find reason to climb far into its terrain. The sierras house many pine trees, giants and griffons.[1]

Notable locations[]

  • The Quannah Breach forms the border between the Dwendalian Empire the Greying Wildlands. A gate maintained by the Uttolot Family charges a toll to pass on its northern end, and a gate manned by Crownsguard guards the passage into the Empire at its southern end.[4]
  • Grimgolir, the dwarven stronghold carved throughout the southern part of Dunrock Mountains.[5]
  • Yardel, a stonemasons' village in the foothills of the mountains, north of Grimgolir.[6]
  • Rastum Den, a Dwendalian encampment for breeding and training military griffons.[7]
  • Bastille of Torment, a massive, multilevel dungeon where Torog tortured the enemies of the Betrayer Gods during the Age of Arcanum. As of 836 PD, it is run by a group of spirit nagas, who guard the many arcane secrets and treasures left by the Betrayers.[1]
  • A small mine at the base of the Dunrock Mountains to the north of Nogvurot.[8]
  • Сovert, collapsible passages utilized by the Kryn Dynasty to infiltrate the empire during War of Ash and Light.[1]
