A Figurine of Wondrous Power is a pocket-sized statuette of a creature, usually a beast, that can turn into the creature itself for a limited time up to once per week.

Onyx Mastiff[]

The Onyx Mastiff Statuette is a figurine of wondrous power that Vox Machina obtained from wisher pixies in the Feywild.[2] Posing as satyr named Garmelie, Artagan tried to steal it from Vex'ahlia but was caught red-handed.[3] The dog was summoned twice: in "Cloak and Dagger" (1x68)[4] and in "The Deceiver's Stand" (1x83)[5], both of which involved climactic battles that rapidly obliterated the onyx dog and unconditionally returned it into the statuette form.

Onyx Mastiff properties[]

The command phrase of "good doggy" is etched in Elvish on the bottom of the statuette. If the bearer uses an action to speak the command phrase and throws the figurine to a point on the ground within sixty feet, then it becomes a living mastiff for up to six hours. The mastiff has an Intelligence of eight, can speak Common, and can see invisible creatures and objects. It has a bite attack and can make sight and hearing checks.

At the end of six hours, or if the creature drops to zero hit points, or if someone uses an action to speak the command phrase again while touching the creature, then it reverts to its figurine form. Upon reverting to a figurine, the statuette cannot be activated again for seven days.[6]

Marble Elephant[]

The Allegiance of Allsight acquired from Cael Morrow a ruidium-infused marble figurine of an elephant. In Call of the Netherdeep, set in 836 PD, this figurine becomes an object of contention between factions in Ank'Harel. Depending on which faction the Player Characters (PCs) join, they are tasked with recovering the figurine from different places.

The Consortium of the Vermilion Dream sends the PCs to steal the figurine from the basement vault in the Allegiance's Emerald Ibis Relic Hall, but they may be attacked by assassins hired by the Sentinels of Memory who are attempting to recover the figurine for that faction,[7] despite the Consortium's support for the Sentinels.[8]

The Allegiance may learn that the figurine is for sale at the Bone Garden, a dubious shop in the Suncut Bazaar, and send the PCs to retrieve it. However, as soon as the PCs try to retrieve it, the figurine is activated and the ruidium elephant goes on an uncontrollable rampage until it is defeated.[9]

If the PCs join the Cobalt Soul, on the other hand, they are sent to the Consortium's temporary headquarters in the Suncut Bazaar, a tavern called the First Eclipse. Unbeknownst to them, the Consortium has just cleared out the First Eclipse, and two of its members there have just conducted a successful experiment with the figurine. The PCs arrive at the Bazaar to discover two ruidium elephants rampaging in the streets; when the elephants are defeated, only one figurine appears.[10]

Should Alyxian be redeemed or slain, the ruidium disappears and the figurine becomes much less volatile, summoning a typical elephant for up to 24 hours.[11]

Ruidium elephant properties[]

A ruidium elephant can't be controlled; it simply attacks everything nearby. Those in its space when it appears must make a Dexterity saving throw to avoid taking force damage and being pushed to the nearest open space.[9] Unlike typical elephants, this creature is a construct that cannot be charmed or frightened. It is all-around more potent in combat than a typical elephant. It is stronger, it is significantly harder to damage, it takes far more damage to subdue, and its attacks are more dangerous than a typical elephant's—more likely to hit and dealing more damage, including psychic damage.[12]
