Fiedra Marrow is a halfling kitchen worker and rogue played by Jasmine Don in Exandria Unlimited: Divergence.
Description[]
Fiedra was small for a halfling, scrawny, wiry, and tough-looking, with red hair worn in two pigtails. She had a tattoo of a cockroach on her shoulder. When first seen, she looked as though she hadn't been sleeping well recently.[4]
Biography[]
Background[]

Fiedra grew up orphaned in a city, and at some point became the leader of a gang there.[5] At around age 13,[6] she acquired a "dragon egg" (winning it in a game of cards),[7] and when it hatched into Crokas, she raised him.[8] When Crokas was ten or eleven,[9] they were both captured and brought to Rybad-Kol, where Fiedra worked in its kitchen, the Slop, gaining some amount of control there, and the trust of at least one of the guards.[10] Crokas acted as a bodyguard to Fiedra.[11] They worked in the kitchen for four or five years,[12] and with several other workers formed their own gang, the Roaches.[13]
"Give and Take" (E4x01)[]
A few days before the Divergence, while she and the other Roaches were working in the Slop, she persuaded Acherus Blix (using the secrets she knew about him to her advantage) to tell her that her dragonborn friend Crokas was going to be sent with other dragonborn as an offering to the Scaled Tyrant in the morning. Shortly after, Cyrulia (one of the local lieutenants) visited the kitchen and informed Fiedra she should prepare the best possible food for a dinner for eight to be served in the tower. Fiedra found Rei'nia Saph, the nurse, in the Mop, and told her about the dragonborn that were going to be sent away (since the half-elf had a friend among them too, Erro Mordaurum). Fiedra suggested they could use the dark markings Crokas had on his body to trick people into believing there was some sort of plague and those prisoners should stay quarantined instead of being sent to Tiamat; Nia agreed and left to tell the authorities, and in the meantime Fiedra stayed in the infirmary. When another prisoner, Garen, asked her for some bread, she gave him the best she had, although she got a bit annoyed when she saw he was offering it to the mice; while they were talking, two weird shiny fleas bit them. The halfling looked for some more food for dinner there, and when she remembered that the old dwarf had worked in many places of the prison, they started talking about how to rescue the dragonborn through the stone when they were sent to the Wandering Walls. However, first she had to go to the Steel Keep, in order to serve dinner to the eight favored followers of the Betrayer Gods; she stayed, pouring wine and listening to them talking about how they were slowly losing the war (and wondering how invested each of them really was in it). One of them, Lord Callister, had brought his wife and son with him, and the latter was annoying him, so he yelled at him and stabbed his hand with a knife to make him stay still. Lord Callister then continued as if nothing had happened, and Fiedra kept serving wine, avoiding the child's eyes. He whispered he wouldn't want to help him, either, and in response, she poured a bit of wine in his glass, telling him it was the best she could do; he used it to clean his wound. As soon as she could the halfling returned to Nia and Garen and looked for a point of the Wandering Walls that Garen knocked down with a hammer blow.
Fiedra was supposed to keep watch, but she was distracted and a guard shot at her with a crossbow, asking what was she doing there; in response, she and her friends jumped inside the wall, and when the guard tried to follow Garen killed them with the hammer, using their body to block the access to them. Fiedra told Crokas that they were going to rescue him (causing him to try to use brute force to open a new hole). They all moved through the Wandering Walls back to the door (with Fiedra being completely blind due to the darkness), where Crokas admitted that he couldn't use a breath weapon like Erro. Fiedra told him that he had other virtues, and indeed, his brute strength proved to be useful, while outside that space a cataclysmic battle shook the entire prison; Erro recognized it as gods fighting.
When they finally got free they found everything destroyed, although with signs that most of the victims were followers of the Betrayer Gods. Fiedra and Crokas tried to find the Roaches, and although they failed, they didn't find their corpses either. While they were among the ruins Erro advised Crokas to keep an eye on Marlath (a follower of the Dragon Queen that had been captured nonetheless) because he seemed nervous; the younger dragonborn, in turn, told Fiedra the same thing. They debated for a bit about what to do next (with Fiedra agreeing with Erro about a smaller group having more chances of making it), until they decided to move with all the survivors northward, staying hidden under the trees. The journey was exhausting, and eventually one of the survivors, the bugbear Gond Gulfsome, started carrying Fiedra on his shoulders, although after some time he too started feeling tired. At one point, minutes after one of them, Starmian Fiddleflask, died of dehydration, it started raining, summoned by the Stormlord as he strode across the country. The Lord of Storms told them that the gods were about to leave forever, and that these mortals were witnessing the last miracles; he told them to be strong and help others, since gods wouldn't be able to do it for them anymore.

Crokas put on his new belt (the Stormgirdle, a gift from Kord), and Fiedra complimented it, especially when it became obvious that it made him stronger; however, as the group continued moving, the halfling kept getting weaker, and Erro started carrying her on his back for a while, talking with her about their time in and out of prison. Due to the rain, she was getting sick, and eventually Crokas decided to give one of Celeste's children back to her so that he could carry Fiedra himself, covering her with his own body to protect her from the rain; Nia gave them a cloak to protect the halfling better. When they had only one day left to arrive to their destination, Erro focused his powers on creating a decent shelter for Fiedra with Mold Earth. Eventually they arrived to Torm's Hill; they started looking for help, since Fiedra was still very weak, and when she joked about not dying fighting against bandits, her bodyguard pointed out that at least in that situation he could do more to protect her. Nia brought a very weak Fiedra (who was hallucinating and thought her parents were with her) to the local infirmary, where she fed her bread and medicinal tea until she fell asleep (the halfling thought it was her mother feeding her cookies). After a night of rest, Fiedra woke up fully recovered, and after stealing a stiletto dagger, she met with Crokas; she told him how very proud she was of him, declaring that one day he would have his own bodyguards that would make him proud. When they found out that Otto and Taveen were in town too (they and Kephekedriel had saved themselves hiding inside a pot, although they ended up leaving the elf behind) they were very happy to see them, and Crokas told them to keep an eye on Marlath, just like Erro had told him days before. Tthe bronze dragonborn, in fact, approached them attempting to conspire with Fiedra shortly after, asking about her reputation back in Rybad-Kol and expressing interest in forming an alliance in Torm's Hill; she assured him she found the idea interesting, and that she would think about it.
Later seven soldiers of the Strife Emperor arrived to Torm's Hill, killing people and demanding the others to return to subjugation; however, after Erro used his fiery breath, encouraging people to fight, and a battle ensued. Crokas, who had been holding Fiedra up so she could see, let her go, and she immediately stabbed an enemy guard. When a local kenku killed a soldier, Fiedra encouraged Taveen to take their weapon, and the townsfolk to defend their home; she then continued fighting, stabbing another person in the gut. After she saw one of the enemies knocking Otto unconscious she approached and cut their throat with a deadly sneak attack; shortly after she gutted another soldier, and as soon as Crokas killed the last one, she started giving orders to people so that they would help the wounded. The local matriarchs, Klasara Bandy and Nez Pilch, immediately reacted and supported her words.
The group rested for the rest of the day, recovering from the fight, and Klasara gave Fiedra a soft pinch and told her that she was doing the right thing; when the gang leader notice that the townsfolk were looking at her with trust, she praised their actions and told them they had to keep their attitude. She told the Roaches that she believed that they could make a change in Torm's Hill, and Crokas, after confirming that she was ok, left to go clean himself in the Larksbrook river, nearby. Marlath appeared shortly after (having been missing during the fight), and told Fiedra about his new ideas, as well as their potential allies in town in case they wanted to make business; she, after admitting that she had underestimated him, told him to meet them after sunset, outside Torm's Hill. The Roaches spent some time drinking with Garen and celebrating, and the dwarf told her that she was a survivor, and had given others part of that spirit that day, to which she responded by admitting she had found purpose. After dusk they left to attend to the meeting with Marlath. While he was distracted talking to Fiedra (who was telling him that they could make him a member of their gang and give him an initiation ceremony), Crokas moved behind him, stealthily, and when the halfling gave the signal, Taveen and Otto grabbed Marlath as the other dragonborn stepped on his tail and opened his mouth; Fiedra took his documents, and after reminding him how he had sold his own people (including Crokas) and had been planning to take advantage of refugees, she declared that he talked too much, and cut his tongue. They all walked away, with the halfling saying they would be in touch. Later, when she was with Klasara, the old woman told her she was a fearsome whirlwind, praised her for what she had done in town, and offered help for whatever she needed. When she recognized Marlath's ledger, Fiedra simply said that it would be an interesting reading material eventually, but not that night (to which Klasara responded by saying that she was frightening). The Roaches spent a quiet night together, with Otto keeping watch.
"Mirror and Key" (E4x03)[]
Before she and her group left Torm's Hill Fiedra said goodbye to the Roaches and told them to help Nez and Klasara; when Celwyn and Celdria were told that Crokas had to stay with the halfling to take care of her, she confirmed that he was a very good bodyguard (she also made the young dragonborn hug his friends). When Celeste gave Crokas an amulet, Fiedra wanted to ask if it was made of silver, but left them alone, not wanting to ruin their moment. She and her friends traveled until they reached Snowgrave Pass, where they found an obsidian tower with only one soldier: Gubbling, a former follower of the Strife Emperor, to whom they convinced (after Crokas intimidated him and Erro told him that his god had fallen) to abandon his position as the last defender of the tower, sending him to redeem himself in Torm's Hill; Crokas told him to find the Roaches there, and Fiedra confirmed that if he was honest he would be fine with them, so he should make good use of that chance. They spent the night inside the tower and took some gear (Fiedra chose a crossbow). Next morning they arrived to Erro's former home, next to a lake, and he told his friends about his former partner, Donaea (killed there) and about his own past as an Issylran refugee, and how he had given up, crying a bit. He was comforted by the others, and Fiedra told him that his actions were proof that he hadn't completely given up; when the older dragonborn felt better, he told his friends to try the water of the lake, and, Crokas jumped inside and started swimming after a few moments of hesitation (scaring Fiedra in the process, until she saw her bodyguard could actually swim well). They kept traveling until they found a promontory in which Fiedra, after noticing a strange shape resembling a face, used her stiletto to reveal a secret sanctum filled with trinkets, documents, and magic items. Fiedra took a single gold piece and an impressive crossbow; then she noticed that out of a chest an orb floated until it became part of the amulet Celeste had given to Crokas. While they were there Nia finally found her sister, learning that she had been a mortal incarnation of the Moonweaver all along, and that the cleric, through their loving bond, had to be an example for other mortals, showing them that their divine magic and connection with the deities would remain even if the gods left Exandria; thus, the group decided to travel to the coast, with Vasselheim being their next destination. As they talked about it, Crokas started thinking about it, and his thoughts started changing, as his improved amulet influenced his mind, making him smarter (realizing only in that moment that his belt was a magic item too); Fiedra examined the orb (getting several visions from events recorded by it) and confirmed that it was the source of the dragonborn's increasing intellect, explaining its recording properties to the group. Before they left, the halfling also took with her the key they had found in the door.
They kept traveling, and days after a positive encounter with treants (who gave them some magic nuts before leaving) the adventurers ended up in the middle of a battle between the armies of Asmodeus and Corellon. During the fight Fiedra attacked the enemies with her new crossbow, but she was knocked unconscious, being healed shortly after by Nia's magic; she then returned the favor using a magic nut to heal the cleric when she fell unconscious. When the battle was over they were approached by unicorns, and they provided some advice and healing before leaving. Eventually the group arrived to a village near a road, and after exchanging advice and resources with the de facto major (he offered them water and Fiedra gave him a magic nut) they got a guide (Tristan, a part-merfolk young man) to the area of the coast in which they might find a boat. When they finally arrived there was nothing there, but that night, Fiedra started talking to her new (and apparently sentient) key, which asked her about her purpose (to take care of her people) before explaining that it sensed a door nearby in a boat. The halfling then woke up Nia and told her about it (causing a brief argument with the key, who didn't want her to share its secrets), and they ended up agreeing that if the sentient item could bring the boat to them, it should do it. After Fiedra asked very nicely, as requested, the key produced a bright red light from its ruby; everyone woke up because of it, but they ended up falling asleep again. Next morning an Issylran vessel arrived, and a very old friend of Erro's family, Grenalin, announced that they were looking for survivors. He agreed to take them to Issylra, and when Garen told his friends that he wasn't sure if he had enough strength for such a journey, Erro assured him that he did, and that he would personally help the dwarf get to Uthtor after their current mission. As they climbed aboard, Fiedra thanked the key for its help, and although she was somewhat confused about a joke about pudding only the item understood, she said that if there was pudding, they would find it together.
"By Heart Alone" (E4x04)[]
After days of journey the group arrived to the Dawn City, and Fiedra, despite being familiar with urban areas, felt somewhat lost and didn't even try to hide it; however, when she noticed Lord Callister and his son in the crowd she focused and warned Crokas about it. When they all visited the Shadowbrook neighborhood and Nia approached the clergy of the Moonweaver, High Priestess Eldanwyn was convinced by their story and brought them to the Runekeep to talk further and help Far-Seer Volsting, who had fallen ill. There they all talked about the gods and how they were starting to leave Exandria leaving them in a vulnerable position; the group offered their help and spoke in favor of Nia's skills, with Fiedra declaring that even though she wasn't religious she believed in her friend. When the cleric healed Volsting, Fiedra noticed that it was Nia's own belief that was making the divine magic happen. Later, when Rux Tallheart, a kobold paladin, guided the group outside to find them warm clothes and food, he asked Fiedra about her religion; she was evasive at first, declaring that she believed in her friends and wasn't actively following a god at the moment, but when Rux assumed she followed the Changebringer she played along. After he left Fiedra told her friends that she had to learn more of Avandra as a precaution, and they were amused, joking about her wearing a habit.
While Nia catched up with her parents, Casimir and Marsa, Crokas and Fiedra started looking for the Callisters, and while they were doing so, the dragonborn started asking why the halfling treated him just as a bodyguard, even though she had raised him since birth; she tried to explain how much she appreciated him, how she had acquired his egg calling it the best prize ever, but he replied that she should analyze her own words and how they made him feel. After a few seconds Fiedra asked him to kneel to speak face to face, and apologized, expressing how much she loved him, and how she was trying to give him a good future and an easy life. She added that she had never shared her feelings or teach him how to do it because she wasn't as smart as she pretended to be, and joked about Crokas needing smarter friends around him; in response, he told her that he needed a mother, and walked away. Fiedra was left alone, and after a bit her key offered help with the task at hand, and managed to locate Lord Callister and his son sleeping in a room nearby. The halfling climbed inside very stealthily as her vestige awakened, and turned it into a dagger to threaten the sleeping lord; when he woke up she tried to make him believe she was a follower of the Strife Emperor, but he Charmed her, took her weapon, and knocked her unconscious. Crokas arrived seconds later and, furious, wounded the warlock, but was Charmed and convinced to take care of his friend while the two humans left with the Infiltrator's Key; Fiedra could barely hear Lord Callister speaking to "his lord", telling him he had found the vestige. The dragonborn, after taking Fiedra with him, tried to locate the Callisters, unsuccessfully, so he used his belt to move as fast as possible back to the rest of their group. Nia healed Fiedra, and Crokas immediately reproached her for her actions, since she had almost died. After Nia Communed with the Moonweaver they confirmed that Lord Callister wouldn't leave Vasselheim for the time being, and that while they tried to locate him they should also try to find the avatars of the Platinum Dragon and the All-Hammer. When she got the chance, Fiedra apologized to Crokas, calling him her son and praising his talent and great heart and stating that even if he didn't forgive her, she didn't want him to suffer; they hugged, and Crokas confirmed to his boss that everything was ok, and that they would find her stolen key.
For almost two weeks the group investigated, and Fiedra, using her criminal knowledge, spent time in taverns where she heard that her target had been seen with the key near an empty chapel of the Moonweaver, and although there was chaos in the streets (since the fall of Ghor Dranas had just been announced) they decided to face the warlock. As they arrived to the chapel Fiedra could sense the presence of her key, and as soon as she saw Lord Callister she used her now Exalted Condemner to cast Hold Person, telling him to stop fidgeting (in reference to the phrase he yelled to his child in Rybad-Kol; the latter, Timothy, recognized the halfling as their servant in the prison, and she told him she would try to help him this time. Fiedra recovered the key, and while Crokas killed Lord Callister (telling him to never touch his mother again) the vestige got Exalted and very grateful granted Invisibility to the halfling; she, however, got suspicious when they key urged her to move Timothy to a specific part of the temple, and she realized that the ruby at the center was being used by the Lord of the Hells to manipulate her. The god himself himself, through a planar rift, tried to tempt Fiedra, telling her that one way or another she would end up with him, but she argued that she had survived without his help. Timothy confessed he had only been created as an empty vessel for Asmodeus to use, but she grabbed him and turned him invisible too; when he asked her why was she nice to him, she replied that the situation wasn't about him. The rogue convinced Timothy that he didn't have to do the bidding of others, and when she asked him if he was capable of goodness, he declared that he could try; Fiedra then pressed the key against the boy, breaking its ruby and losing her connection to the vestige, but freeing the spiritual energy inside it to give Timothy an actual soul (making both him and the key unusable for Asmodeus). When Erro was killed by the archdevil's Fire Bolt, they all decided to flee. Through Nia's Major Image, the Moonweaver closed the rift, leaving the Lord of the Hells locked in his infernal realm, while outside, the Platinum Dragon arrived to the Dawn City to announce the Divergence.
Later life[]
Erro's body was brought back to Gwessar to bury him next to Donaea, and Crokas and Fiedra (along with Timothy) returned to Torm's Hill to reunite with the Roach Gang. Crokas approved the idea of Timothy being adopted by Fiedra and the group, and saw it as a second opportunity for the halfling to be a mother; however, he needed to be alone for a time, and after promising to return to his family eventually, he left town. Fiedra and the Roaches took care of Timothy and she raised him as a son, being very proud of his tendencies to intimidate others, and taking care of his Roach tattoo herself when he turned 12. Two or three years after that the Roaches found Kephekedriel and his own gang, who were considering causing destruction across the continent; Fiedra argued that he could choose a more peaceful existence, and the elf accepted, casually slitting the throat of someone who disagreed as he did so. They both hugged, and Keph told Fiedra that she was a freak.[14]
They stayed in the swampy region that would become Stilben, creating a criminal network, and Fiedra and Garen found each other again when he traveled there to help people build things in such a complicated terrain.[15]
Relationships[]
The Roaches[]
Fiedra was the leader of the Roaches and even though she showed predilection for her dragonborn bodyguard Crokas (considering him her son, although she didn't always expressed it),[16] she considered that whoever was accepted and got their tattoo would be a member permanently, no matter how annoying they were.[17] All of the Roaches survived the battle at Rybad-Kol by hiding under a gigantic pot. They traveled northward and met up with Fiedra again at Torm's Hill, although Kephekedriel met some friends along the way who seemed to be part of a strange cult of some kind (believing that all the gods were dead and they were the new gods) and stayed with them.[18]
- Otto: A goliath with a beard, very strong and prone to violence.
- Taveen: A fire genasi with ember-like eyes and coal-like teeth that kept the fires of the kitchen burning. He seems to like Fiedra's softer side.[19]
- Kephekedriel: A weird elf and one of the cooks. Despite his eccentricities, he listens to Fiedra (who from his own point of view is also a freak).[20]
- Timothy Callister: A young human child, originally created as a soulless vessel for the Lord of the Hells. The first time they met Fiedra didn't want to take great risks to help the boy, but when they fought his father in Vasselheim she protected him, gave him an actual soul, and later adopted him, actively raising him as a mother instead of seeing him just as a gang member.[21]
Acherus Blix[]
Fiedra knew this bugbear guard enough to know that he had a mark of Asmodeus on his chest, even though he pretended to be a follower of Bane. Because of this, she could convince him to look the other way when she overstepped as a prisoner, and gave her information from time to time in exchange for drinks.[22]
