The Exandrian Accord is an international alliance of Exandrian nations and factions opposing the Ruby Vanguard and their plans of releasing the God Eater.
History[]
Background[]
When the Ruby Vanguard, through the years, began to develop their plans of releasing Predathos, those involved obtained documents connected to the Ruidusborn as well as making an assassination attempt on the Voice of the Tempest in Zephrah. Both of those things drew the attention of the Grim Verity and the Air Ashari, which led to the adventuring party Bells Hells getting involved and beginning to investigate suspicious activities in Marquet in 843 PD.[2][3][4] Their involvement became more personal after Otohan Thull, an ally of the Vanguard, killed one of their own temporarily.[5]
As knowledge of Ludinus Da'leth's plans to use three Malleus Keys on three different planes to free Predathos from Ruidus became better known, the Grim Verity began to act too, sending teams (including Bells Hells themselves) to the Shadowfell and the Feywild to destroy or damage two of the machines, and then traveling to the Tishtan excavation site in the Hellcatch Valley to destroy the main device.[6][7] At the same time, the temples of Vasselheim, having recently lost documents connected to Predathos, discovered the Ruby Vanguard's plans and sent their own forces to Marquet.[8] Keyleth, after dealing with a suspicious cult on Terrah, sent the Air Ashari forces to the Hellcatch Valley at the request of Orym. This led to what became known as the Battle of the Red Center, a conflict devised by Ludinus as a trap to attract Keyleth and use her to summon the Champion of Ravens, who was sealed into an orb and used as the final piece to activate the main Malleus Key. The machine emitted a red energy beam (weaker than it should have been, due to the successful sabotage) that connected directly with Ruidus, anchoring it in the sky above the excavation site.[9]
Creating the Accord[]
The creation of the international alliance was gradual and took place over the following weeks.
Several nations were concerned about the red beam anchoring the Moon of Ill Omen over Marquet, which, combined with the concern about its repercussions on the solstice, the weave of magic, and divinity as a whole, led some political forces to act. Initially, many Marquesian powers considered an alliance among themselves, and to discuss such matters, leaders and envoys (including J'mon Sa Ord, ruler of Ank'Harel) gathered in Jrusar.[10] They were joined there by forces from the Clovis Concord of the Menagerie Coast, sent to Jrusar on their way to the Red Center.[11] With the assistance of the Grim Verity and Vilya of the Air Ashari, more forces got involved, including Whitestone, the Tal'Dorei Council, Yios and the Tangulan Keep.[12]
The temples of Vasselheim, for their part, had been the first to suffer war casualties even before the Battle of the Red Center, and after the activation of the Malleus Key they sent even more troops to Marquet,[13] settling around the ruins and fighting both the Ruby Vanguard and the reilora, strange red entities coming from Ruidus.[14] They were joined by allies from different countries and factions, as well as independent mercenaries and followers of different deities. By then, the Exandrian Accord had already been established, and they sent Bells Hells to the Moon of Ill Omen as their scouts. To help the group reach the Bloody Bridge, they launched a carefully organized attack as a distraction, and while the enemy forces faced machines cloaked in illusory magic, Keyleth took the adventurers as close to the excavation as possible before going to assist her allies on the battlefield.[15]
When Bells Hells returned, they found the forces of the Exandrian Accord were better organized, with several encampments surrounding the Red Center, at least one of them being magically reinforced and turned into a small fortress.[16] The information they had collected on the Moon of Ill Omen, as well as the valuable presence of Evoroa, a rescued bormodo scientist, were very well received by the alliance. At this point the Accord had many fronts open around Exandria, dealing not only with the forces of Ludinus Da'leth, but also with the consequences of his philosophical demagoguery among the citizens, as well as the monsters and magical phenomena that had been unleashed due to the prolonged apogee solstice. Based on the information offered by Bells Hells about the most recent whereabouts of the leader of the Ruby Vanguard, they were offered a new mission: go to Eiselcross to obtain more information. As escort they were assigned Essek Thelyss, in disguise as Seth Domade, introduced as an archivist of the Cobalt Soul to whom the adventurers were presented as champions of the Exandrian Accord, worthy of great respect and support. They also received 10,000 gold pieces as financial support.[17]
Less than two days after Bells Hells left with "Seth", the forces of the Accord observed how a fortress-like structure started to form around the Malleus Key to protect it, and shortly after a new attack against their west camp was successful; when the adventurers returned they found it nearly destroyed, with many Vanguard soldiers and reilora, as well as Ruidian beasts such as vidulches massacring the few survivors. The group Teleported to Vasselheim quickly, after being told by Keyleth (via Sending) that many refugees and important members of the Accord had withdrawn to the Dawn City.[18] The party arrived while a council meeting of Exandrian rulers was taking place inside the Platinum Sanctuary there.[19] In this meeting, Keyleth confirmed that the Exandrian Accord had lost control of the Hellcatch Valley, and were now organizing to define new missions against the Ruby Vanguard and the Ruidian forces with the help of different nations, while some also tried to advocate for better understanding and compassion towards the non-hostile Ruidians, with Evoroa being presented as a representative and example of the latter.[20] The next morning, a smaller meeting took place in the Trial Forge to prepare specific plans to propose upon returning to the Platinum Sanctuary. After some debate, three potential missions were defined: to attack and destroy the Malleus Key, to send a team to Kreviris to kill the five members of the Weave Mind, and to infiltrate the Hallowed Cage and stop Ludinus and his forces before the release of Predathos using the two Ruidusborn members of Bells Hells.[21]
After the aforementioned group of adventurers completed a mission disturbing diplomatic relations between the Unseelie Court and the Ruby Vanguard, they were sent to Lake Umamu, where they would meet with the Mighty Nein; both parties would travel to Ruidus together, with the latter being the chosen team to defeat the Weave Mind. By that point the Exandrian Accord had their forces distributed between Vasselheim, Ank'Harel, and Whitestone, and were preparing to attack as soon as the teams on the red moon were positioned; for this purpose they had several skyships capable of transporting hundreds of soldiers, as well as several spellcasters who, although they did not wish to enter battle, offered teleportation services to the Accord.[22]
Members and allies[]
This international alliance appears loosely organized, with a few political leaders being active members and commanders, while other individuals are more like independent agents, like Bells Hells, coming and going, or sending support in the form of resources. Those marked with an asterisk ( * ) were known to be present for the meeting at the Platinum Sanctuary in Vasselheim.[23]
