Eugene Lee is a storyboard artist, and one of three episode directors for The Legend of Vox Machina, Season Two. His previous works include Voltron: Legendary Defender, The Legend of Korra, The Sea Beast, and Avatar: The Way of Water.
Lee studied at Pasadena Art Center of Design and got his start in the animation industry when one of his family's friends knew a friend at Cartoon Network, allowing him to get an internship there. One of the directors for Ben 10, Dan Riba, saw some of his homework and encouraged him to do freelance work for them, which grew into full time. Eugene's parents come from an Asian American background and they wanted him to be in a lucrative profession such as a doctor or a lawyer, but allowed him to go into art instead.[2]
About his various jobs, Lee has said, "As a director and a board artist, the board artist's job is to take the script and translate it into what you see. Sometimes the writing might get in the way of the staging, and it's the board artist’s job to fix that. The director's job is to make sure things are in line and let the board artists know if certain things make sense. It's a symbiotic relationship."[3]
