The Emerald Tree, also called the Tomb of Oma-Dua, is a green obelisk that acts as the place of rest of a powerful Gau Drashari named Oma-Dua. It is located in a shrine within a cave in the Irriam Canyon on the continent of Issylra.

Description[]

In the entrance there is an archway that reads, in Primordial: "Within the Verdant Tomb, we keep her spirit enduring". After a section of the cavern with crystalline formations, the Emerald Tree itself can be found. The obelisk has a green coloration (not unlike residuum, although its exact composition is unknown), and even though it glows, it has a dark space in its center,[1] presumably where Oma-Dua's spirit and/or remains are kept.

History[]

Centuries ago Oma-Dua managed to seal Evithorir, a dark fey entity, beneath the rock of Cofferfall Hills.[2] However, she ended up weakened by the Taker's mortal curse, and since she couldn't lift it, she spent the rest of her years transmitting her teachings to others and protecting the Irriam Canyon. When she died, a shrine-like tomb was constructed in that place, inside the cave.[3]

The Emerald became a fane of power for the surrounding region, being protected by a druidic circle that was able to communicate with the still enduring spirit of Oma-Dua;[4] the leader of the druids bears the title of "Hierophant of the Emerald Tree".[5] They lived in the Verdant Tomb itself, in their own rooms, and had a large creature guarding the entrance to the shrine.[6]

In 843 PD, the powerful magic of the apogee solstice caused Evithorir to be freed, and they attacked the shrine of the Emerald Tree, decimating its guardians and possessing their leader, the archdruid Hevestro, claiming control over their old enemy's tomb; however, the dark fey was defeated by a group of adventurers.[7]

Trivia[]

  • It is possible that the obelisk is made of residuum, but if that's the case, Hevestro doesn't known the term.[8]
