Eisfuura are a humanoid birdfolk known to live in the lands of Marquet.[4] Eisfuura may be a different term for an aarakocra.[5]

Eisfuura appear to have arms that double as wings, or conjoined arm-wings, rather than having separate limbs for each purpose.[6][7] Cerrit Agrupnin, an eisfuura in the Age of Arcanum, however, seems to have separate arms and wings, so the distinction between eisfuura and aarakocra is not entirely clear.

History and society[]

Eisfuura existed in the Age of Arcanum before the Calamity; Cerrit Agrupnin was a prominent example in the city of Avalir.[8]

Eisfuura are explicitly identified as living in Jrusar. It's unclear whether the "people with the faces of...birds" in Niirdal-Poc are eisfuura, aarakocra, or kenku.[9]

During the apogee solstice of 843 PD Imogen Temult used the Staff of Dark Odyssey to Teleport herself, along with Fearne Calloway, Chetney Pock O'Pea, Deanna Leimert, FRIDA and Fresh Cut Grass, to Jrusar, but due to a low roll they ended up appearing in a settlement of birdfolk (aarakocra and/or eisfuura) who were very insistent on leading the adventurers out blindfolded so they couldn't remember the way back.[10] Although both the Flotket Alps and an ocean were visible there[11] (which would seem to indicate this place was in the Dunrock Mountains), it was confirmed that the settlement was, in fact, Vol'antim.[12][13][14]

Trivia[]

  • One of the eisfuura Ability Score bonuses goes to Dexterity.[15] This is similar to the aarakocra's bonus, which goes to Dexterity and Wisdom.
  • The lifespan of the eisfuura race is currently unknown. However, it is mentioned that Maya, Cerrit Agrupnin's daughter, is seven years old, and by that age she's sneaking out going to parties and stealing alcohol; her younger brother, Kir, is only five, but his behavior also seems more mature than that of a human of the same age. Since this race seems to be connected to the aarakocra race to some degree, it can be presumed that eisfuura reach maturity sooner than other humanoids, and if Maya and Kir are typical examples of eisfuura children, around seven would be the eisfuura equivalent of adolescence. That would nonetheless be a slower maturity than aarakocra, since that race reach adulthood at three and usually live no longer than 30 years.[16]
  • Eisfuura is similar to an Arabic word for a small bird, عصفور, which may be written in English script as "eusfur" or "asfoura".
