Eclipse is a deva who serves the Dawnfather in the Material Plane.

Description[]

Appearance[]

Eclipse hides his celestial appearance posing as a humanoid priest.[2]

Personality[]

Eclipse is extremely loyal to his god, to the point where, in his zealotry, he tries to manipulate mortals to achieve the goals he thinks would please Pelor. As Father Larkylai, he's considered an affable man.[2]

Biography[]

At some point before 836 PD Eclipse arrived to Exandria and visited Bronbog, a village in Tal'Dorei with a great devotion to the Dawnfather. Using his powers, Eclipse created a humanoid persona for himself, Father Larkylai, and settled in the village, gaining a good reputation and conducting services from within the town's tavern. His main objective was to brainwash the Bronboggi to create a loyal Army of the Dawn to fight against Pelor's enemies.

In the adventure hook Morning Glory in the Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn, Eclipse tries a new trick to impress the townsfolk, summoning several glowing obelisks from the swamp that cause the most devout villagers to marvel, calling them "heralds of the Dawnfather, the rising sun", but all others are disturbed by their neighbors' feverish attitude.[2]

Character information[]

Abilities[]

As a deva, Eclipse is able to change shape, appearing as a humanoid priest without raising suspicion. He also has healing abilities that help maintaining his facade as an affable priest.[1] Additionally, Eclipse is capable of summoning bits of architecture from Pelor's ancient temple.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Eclipse chose his current name (a reference to the the total or partial obscuring of one celestial body by another), which suggests that originally he had an angelic name.[2]
    • Having astronomical connotations in his name is a trait he shares with Perigee, another deva and servant of Sehanine.[3]
  • It is unknown if Eclipse's ability to summon the shining obelisks is due to his affinity with Pelor (the deity to whom the old temple was dedicated) or if is something more direct (such as control of the stone itself).[2]
