Dugger (pronounced /ˈdʌɡər/) is a dwarf involved in the criminal activities at the Prudaj Textiles warehouse in Jrusar. As an NPC, Dugger is played by Matthew Mercer.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Dugger had a pale sallow face, greasy pulled-back hair, and a patchy, nasty-looking chin beard.[2] When the Bells Hells has seen him, he has worn a dark cloak.[3]
In his mutated form, Dugger's veins were blackened and oozed glistening oily film. The eyes were almost completely black.[4]
Personality[]
Dugger was cold, demanding,[5] and generally agreed upon to be creepy.[6]
Biography[]
Background[]
Dugger was a member of the Hubatt Corsairs until a few months prior to the start of the campaign.[7] He also had worked with Emoth Kade.[8]
"The Trail and the Toll" (3x03)[]
The party followed Danas to the Weary Way Tavern and tracked her to a room with a closed door, through which they could hear a voice admonishing her and telling her that her talents were no longer needed. The party broke down the door when they started to hear choking noises, and were attacked by Dugger inside the room. He escaped before they could kill him. Later that night, when Bertrand Bell took a drunken walk, he was attacked and killed by Dugger.
"On the Trail of a Killer" (3x04)[]
After the party located Bertrand's corpse, Orym determined that the wounds matched Dugger's weapons. Ariks Eshteross was not familiar with a pale dwarf matching Dugger's description. The party then began to gather information, and Dorian was, with the help of Imogen and a Charm Person spell, able to learn that Dugger enjoyed gambling and was once an ordinary carpenter, but began both wasting away physically and working in an unspecified different job several months prior.[9]
"The Threat Between the Walls" (3x05)[]
The party learned where Duggar's home was from Yash Mangal and went to investigate. They broke into the house, which was locked and boarded up, and found the interior appeared to have been ransacked and was covered with a strange oily residue. As Fearne in rat form was exploring a tunnel similar to those found in the Weary Way Tavern, a stretched, elongated form of Dugger pursued her upward, reforming into a more typical dwarven form when he emerged. During the ensuing combat, shade creepers again emerged from a second tunnel to aid him, and a hit from Orym burst a strange hump on Dugger's back, releasing yet another shade creeper. When Dugger was killed by Dorian Storm's Thunderwave, he turned into ash.
