Dolabos are tiny, winged, amphibian-like creatures, similar to pixies, that inhabit the island of Slival in the Shattered Teeth.
Appearance[]
The dolabos are only one inch tall, with insect wings, fuchsia toad-like skin, and an amphibian-like anatomy, with thin arms and stronger legs. Their faces end in a snout with a horn, and their eyes are cloudy and yellow-green in hue. At least one tribe of these creatures didn't use clothing,[3] and used their own teal-colored faeces to cover their bodies, hiding their scent from "The Smelly One", a large predator with a good sense of smell.
Abilities[]
Dolabos are able to fly, emitting light as they do.[4] They produce excrement that smells like lavender.[5] They have a great sense of smell, recognizing each other in this way, and ignoring the use of names.[6]
History[]
In Slival the dolabos were considered "eternal children of the island".[7] They are wary of predators and hide their homes, whether on the ground, in bushes or in trees.[8] They seem to have an innate fascination with fire.[9]
Campaign Three: Bells Hells[]
In 843 PD, when Bells Hells visited the Shattered Teeth after the apogee solstice, they encountered several dolabos who followed them as they traveled. That night, Laudna allowed them to get closer,[10] and Fresh Cut Grass interacted directly with them, at first without a common language, and later, thanks to the Tongues spell, having full conversations with one of them, "Me", who warned the aeormaton about the island and its inhabitants, including Bari Mondolo.[11]
Following the dolabos' advice that they create a large fire to draw the attention of Toriz, Bells Hells went to a volcanic rock hill the following morning, where they received a rain of lavender-smelling faeces, and they lit a bonfire, which attracted Bari Mondolo, but also Toriz shortly after. During the whole process the tiny creatures were enthralled by the flames whenever they were burning.[12]
Notable dolabos[]
- "Me", who was named by the cleric FCG after they discovered that dolabos didn't have names.
