Divine Intervention is a cleric ability used to request a deity's aid.

Description[]

Beginning at 10th level, a cleric can call on their deity to intervene on their behalf when their need is great. The caster describes the assistance they seek, and rolls percentile dice. If they roll a number equal to or lower than their cleric level, their deity intervenes. After a success, a cleric can’t use this feature again for seven days. If it fails, they can use it again after they finish a long rest.[1]

At 20th level, a cleric's call for intervention succeeds automatically without a dice roll.[1]

After the gods became mortal in 843 PD, Lieve'tel Toluse's use of Divine Intervention still succeeded although there were no divine entities at the time. It was noted that "Whereas normally such a grand ask and focal calling of will and intent is an outward request, this seems to emanate from within."[2]

  • The first time Ashley Johnson mentioned Divine Intervention in "The Temple Showdown" (1x11), she and Matt Mercer mistakenly referred to it as "Divine Inspiration".[58]
