Devana Vessar is an elven cartographer who lives in Syngorn with her husband, Syldor Vessar, and their daughter, Velora Vessar. She is also the stepmother of Syldor's half-elf children, Vax'ildan and Vex'ahlia. As an NPC, Devana is played by Matthew Mercer in Critical Role, and by Toks Olagundoye in The Legend of Vox Machina, Season Two.

Devana is described as having bright blonde hair that she keeps braided and tied up.[1]
In Vox Machina Origins, she is depicted with dark brownish gray hair tied in a loose bun. She has tan skin. When Vox Machina met her, she was wearing a dark teal dress with loose sleeves over a purple blouse.[2]
Similarly, in The Legend of Vox Machina she also has darker skin, black hair and dark purple eyes.

Devana is a kind and polite woman, warmer than her husband. She is easily shocked when hearing her daughter saying bad words.

Background[]
Vox Machina first met Devana while doing odd jobs in Emon. Her husband Syldor was there on business as the ambassador for Syngorn, and hired the party to search for his contact in the Tal'Dorei Council, who had gone missing.[3]
"Heredity and Hats" (1x60)[]
When the twins and visited their fathers' home in Syngorn they reunited with Devana, who, despite her initial surprise seeing them and their friends, invited them inside. During that visit Devana acted as a good host, bringing tea to the adventuring party and also introducing her daughter Velora to her half-siblings; despite the good attitude between the cartographer and her guests, she did express some discomfort when they began to swear in front of Velora.
"Dalen's Closet" (Sx47)[]
Devana was invited along with her husband and daughter to Vex and Percival de Rolo's vow renewal in Dalen's Closet, although they, like most of the guests, eventually fell unconscious when Sylas Briarwood interrupted the rehearsal for the event. They would wake up, although by then Vex and Percy had already renewed their vows, with only their friends as witnesses.

Devana is polite and kind to her stepchildren and treats them with respect, encouraging her own daughter to maintain a friendly relationship with the twins.
