Desmond Dragonstrike is a dwarf who helped found Kraghammer in the wake of the Calamity. As an NPC, Desmond Dragonstrike is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.

Description[]

Appearance[]

When Garen Hearthheart first encountered Desmond in Vasselheim's Brightforge neighborhood, Desmond was wearing a big, wide-brimmed hat, and his clothing bore a symbol that crossed a shepherd's crook with a hammer.[5]

Personality[]

Garen was an amiable leader. He grew somber at the mention of Uthtor.[6]

Biography[]

Background[]

Desmond remembered the city of Uthtor from his young days, before the city's fall. He left that city in a hurry.[7]

"By Heart Alone" (E4x04)[]

As the wars of the Calamity came to a close, Desmond coordinated multiple groups of the "subterranean devout" and their families that were set to return to the halls of Uthtor. Word had reached Vasselheim that the ruined halls of Uthtor no longer felt the touch of the Crawling King. Desmond told Garen that those returning intended to re-light the fires that lit the halls, but he would only stay there briefly before heading out again across Gwessar. He readily accepted Garen's offer to help as a stonemason.[8]

After the Top Slab of Kraghammer had been dug out, Desmond, as one of the new lords of Kraghammer, asked Garen for one last favor: to go to Bend, a new town in the K'Tawl Swamp, and help out some of the dwarves who had fled there during the Calamity. Demond hoped that, by helping, Garen could also guide some of them back to Kraghammer, and recover any family records, stonework, and runes that they had after being scattered in the fall of Uthtor.[9]

Trivia[]

  • History would record that Clan Jaggenstrike led the construction of Kraghammer, uniting thousands of dwarves, gnomes, and other subterranean races, and became the city's first ruling clan.[10] The clan quietly died out centuries later, though it survived at least to the Scattered War.[11]
