The Daggerbay Mountains are a cluster of mountains in western Tal'Dorei. They are framed by the Dividing Plains to the East, the Bladeshimmer Shoreline to the North, the Ozmit Sea to the West, and the Verdant Expanse to the South. [1]
Description[]
Only in recent years have the Daggerbay Mountains garnered interest as anything but a natural barrier; the elves of Southern Tal'Dorei had long found the mountains to be the home of cyclopes and typically avoided the region. Their proximity to the Emerald Outpost means that the mountains are easy to scout, although as of 812 PD the only things uncovered were more cyclopes, and some strangely intelligent bulettes.[2]
Notable locations[]
The Emerald Outpost, a military installation shared between Syngorn and the Republic of Tal'Dorei, is located at the northern edge of the range.[1]
History[]
The Daggerbay Mountains were created during the Founding, when a primordial known as the Molten Titan was defeated by the earliest elves and buried in the earth. Much later, the range served as the default boundary between human and elven lands after humans began to colonize the continent after the Calamity.[1]
In the adventure hook A Metal of Memory in the Critical Role: Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting and Reborn, an extremely rare metal left behind by the Molten Titan called orichalcum was discovered far below the surface of the mountains. Its discoverey sparked a rush of entrepreneurs to mine into the earth, who eventually discovered some essence of the titan that still lived and sought vengeance.[3][4]
