Cyrillia is the undead navigator on the Crimson Abyss, a ghost ship sailing the seas around the Shattered Teeth. As an NPC, Cyrillia is played by Matthew Mercer.

Description[]

Appearance[]

Cyrillia was first seen as a female smoldering skeleton holding "some station" within the crew. She had a blue flame flickering in one eye socket, but the other was dark and vacant.[2] She had little veins of smoldering light in between her bones.[3] After she shared her warmth with Captain Novos, the glow of her smolder became a a light grayish purple.[4]

Personality[]

Cyrillia was morose and protective of her territory, although somewhat shy expressing her emotions.

Biography[]

Background[]

While she was alive she removed her own eye to prove that she was still good at her job, and even after dying she was good at it, being the only one able to see through the Fool's Curtain with the aid of a spyglass.[5]

"Phantasmal Parley" (3x72)[]

During the battle between the crew of the ghost ship and Bells Hells, Cyrillia was in the crow's nest armed with a heavy crossbow sniping at the party, and hit Fresh Cut Grass at least three times, knocking him unconscious. Ashton knocked her from her perch to the deck to end that threat. After the party successfully parlayed their way onboard, Ashton climbed up to the crow's nest for a private conversation with her, discovering that she might feel some resentment toward the captain about her situation. He told her that things were changing, and even the god who cursed this ship might not be long for this world. Cyrillia had noticed Ruidus had been missing from the sky lately, and listened to him intently.

Cyrillia and Fearne by Elaine Tipping

While Bells Hells were on board Cyrillia kept an eye on them while escorting the captain some distance away. When she saw that Fearne began to interact with him more often she became moody and protective, and later aggressive and jealous, when she learned that Urlu and the druid had been spooning, and that the latter had shared her warmth with him. The navigator was willing to attack Fearne, but she (with some telepathic assistance from Imogen) convinced her to share her own warmth with the captain. Cyrillia ended up agreeing, and in a very confident way went to the captain's quarters, staying with them for a while, producing a lot of steam, and even changing the color of the lights of the vessel. When they were done, both of them were quite happy, and the fire genasi skeleton had cooled down a bit. After that she was much more relaxed, and when she was in the crows nest and noticed that her spyglass was missing (Orym had stolen it) she didn't worry too much. Before Fearne left with her friends the navigator thanked her for her help.

Relationships[]

Urlu Novos[]

Cyrillia was loyal to the captain, and was always watching and following him like a bodyguard. Her protectiveness towards him was mixed with jealousy, and she considered that anything that involved comforting him or giving him warmth could only be her business, despite not daring to do it. However, once she gained courage, she managed to express her feelings towards him, and they were reciprocated.
