This article is about the thieves' guild in the world of Aramán. For the adventuring party in the world of Exandria, see the Crown Keepers.

The Crow Keepers is the oldest thieves' guild in Dol-Makjar,[1] thus demonstrating the intelligence and caution which they have displayed in order to remain viable this long.[2]

Headquarters[]

Their main center of activity in the city is a tavern in Caravan Hill called The Guard Tower, where members gather during the day to eat, drink, and plot.[3]

History[]

Campaign Four: Overture[]

Kattigan Vale investigated the room in one of Thjazi Fang's hideouts where several men (including one wearing very fine boots) had broken in and assaulted Thimble. Using the spell Clue and his own sense of how the footprints and fingerprints were placed, he pieced together that Thimble had fought back and killed three of the intruders, but was wounded within an inch of her life before falling through a grate. The dead intruders were removed from the premises, the Stone of Nightsong was stolen, and blood was cleaned from the hideout's secret entrance. Some left-behind crow feathers and the smell of pine resin, alcohol, and thick tobacco smoke that apparently emanated from the intruders' clothing immediately made Kattigan think of the Crow Keepers.[4]

Later, Thimble along with Kattigan and Occtis Tachonis visited the tavern known to be their center of operations in an effort to find Casimir Gavendale, a member of the guild and a participant in the failed plot to free Thjazi. When Casimir's name was mentioned, tension immediately escalated,[5] and despite Thimble's failed effort to get the Guild to stand down, battle ensued.[6] During the fight, the guildleader Solomon was killed. When the group interrogated another member, they learned that Casimir had owed the guild a massive sum which he had paid off the previous morning, and was in possession of new gear and the deed to a stronghouse north of the city. However, Talcydimir Pridesire had rushed in as this was happening, grabbed the title, and run out followed by Casimir. The thief tells them it's obvious Casimir had made powerful enemies and that they didn't need to anticipate any further problems from the Crow Keepers.[7]

Known members[]

Trivia[]

  • Their name is very similar to that of the Crown Keepers, a disbanded adventuring party from Exandria.
  • The Crow Keepers keep a list of debtors called "the gibbet".[12]
  • Thjazi Fang had the respect of the Crow Keepers and most of them wouldn't even think of attacking or robbing him and Thimble.[13]
