Cosmo Grimm is an elderly bookshop owner in Newfaire. He is played by Liam O'Brien.

Description[]

Cosmo is 97 years old, thin, and wiry. When first seen, he was wearing a tweed jacket and bowtie that were both too large for him. He gets about using a brass wheelchair equipped with a supplemental electrical power source.[3]

Cosmo still enjoys field work, the thrill of the hunt, his own personal studies, and running his shop.[4]

Biography[]

Background[]

Eighty-seven years prior to the events of the Circle of Tide and Bone, Cosmo was traveling aboard a ship with his father Oscar, mother Cora, uncle Quentin, and sister Iris, when a ritual performed by The Serious Man split the ship in two. As Oscar tumbled into its center he pushed Cosmo back and away, although the rest of the family was lost.[5] Oscar was left with a strange immortality that costs him part of his memories and personality each time his life is restored and the two have spent the intervening years attempting to find a cure without success.[6]

Cosmo is the owner of The Antiquarian, a quirky little occult bookshop in a quiet side street of the Sidle, the westernmost neighborhood of Newfaire.[7] He has also been a member of Candela Obscura for many decades, and the shop now serves as a Chapter House for the organization.[8] Although he has been offered Lightkeeper status many times, he has always passed it up.[9] Cosmo is now afraid Candela Obscura is on the verge of locking Oscar up as a danger.[10]

However, during the course of "Candela Obscura: The Antiquarian" (CO3x01), it was revealed that Oscar is actually Cosmo's father, seemingly unable to die although having to give up a major part of his memories and/or personality each time he is restored to life.
