Aeormatons, although fitting the definition of a construct, are nevertheless classified as humanoid,[28] and at least one, Fresh Cut Grass, is known to have a soul.[29]
History[]
The Founding and the Age of Arcanum[]
Moradin created forge guardians to protect the smithies where the first dwarves were created. In turn, the dwarves of the Age of Arcanum were the first mortals to succeed at creating golems;[30] they created legions of golems to protect their settlements.[31]

Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep[]

Official art of a ruidium elephant rampaging in the streets of Ank'Harel, by Zoltan Boros.[art 5]
In this adventure set in 836 PD, the Allegiance of Allsight acquired from Cael Morrow a ruidium-infused marble figurine of an elephant, which becomes an object of contention between factions in Ank'Harel. Depending on which faction the Player Characters (PCs) join, they are tasked with recovering the figurine from different places. If they join the Allegiance, they must subdue the rampaging ruidium elephant, a construct spawned from the volatile figurine.[32] If they join the Cobalt Soul, they find on one mission that the Consortium of the Vermilion Dream has just successfully experimented with summoning two uncontrollable ruidium elephants from one figurine, and must stop the creatures.[33] And if the PCs join the Consortium, they may discover that the Allegiance's Emerald Ibis Relic Hall is protected by half a dozen green-glass statues of ibises that animate and patrol the public parts of the hall during off-hours.[34]
Around this time, a Consortium spy in the ranks of the Allegiance, Galeokaerda, has a shield guardian named Crescent.[27]
And one of the persistent dangers of the Netherdeep is a prowling ruidium golem in the shape of Alyxian that actively hunts the PCs.[21]

- Willi: Adamantine golem created by the Mighty Nein in the golem workshop of the Folding Halls of Halas, later transferred to Yussa Errenis
Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep[]
- Ruidium elephants
- Alyxian the Hunter: A relentless ruidium golem resembling the human champion.
Campaign Three[]
- Automatons of the Division of Public Benefit: Apple Pie, Oatmeal, Pussy, and Thunderstorm
- During the preparations of the Exandrian Accord before attacking the Red Center, some automatons were activated to fight alongside them.[36]
Trivia[]
- Because constructs do not have blood, they are unaffected by hemocraft (blood magic).[37] Likewise, their lack of life force makes them immune to the Call of the Shadowseeds ability of druids of the Circle of the Blighted[38] and the Wraithstorm ability of wraithroot trees.
- Barbarians who follow the Path of the Juggernaut deal extra damage to constructs with their melee attacks.[39][40]
