Clemain Astural was a powerful arcanist who lived during the Age of Arcanum. According to legend, he was known as the Sight Shepherd and went mad after a pact with an otherworldly entity he called The Sightless, who fueled his power. This power allowed Clemain to devastate southeastern Tal'Dorei until he was defeated, buried in the rubble of his tower, Wrettis.

History[]
Clemain Astural lived during the Age of Arcanum. According to the few legends that survived history, known as the Sight Shepherd, he was a powerful arcanist who had peered into a realm beyond the Planes of Existence in search of power that would allow him to cease war around the world. He found an entity he called The Sightless, whom he made an agreement with, mistakenly believing that The Sightless would serve him. Astural's sanity subsequently crumbled, but his power, fueled by The Sightless, grew, allowing the mage to sweep devastation over southeastern Tal'Dorei.[1]
During his reign, Astural wrote thousands of pages of parchment with writings that would later become known as the Astural Scrolls. Earlier notes ranged from alchemical formulas, spells, and star charts, but his later notes descended into paranoid ramblings. At some point, Astural made his tower, Wrettis, his base of operations, containing his secret creations.[1]
Eventually, a group of heroes of the land rode to Wrettis with the intention of ending his reign of terror. As a result, Wrettis was destroyed and Astural was killed, his corpse buried in the rubble of his tower. One of the heroes that defeated him was Atz Yuminor, who later took many of the Astural Scrolls, bringing them with him to the Dividing Plains.[1]

- Astural Scrolls: A collection of scrolls containing alchemical formulas, spells, star charts, and paranoid ramblings. After his death, many of the Astural Scrolls were taken by Atz Yuminor, eventually hidden away and guarded by the Scions of Yuminor in Westruun's Westhall Academy.[1] One of the Astural Scrolls is the Fourth Astural Scroll, detailing the creation of Exandria.[2]
